Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3

The company founded by Bill Gates, Microsoft, has been a key player in the development of gaming consoles. Many companies over the years have tried to compete against one of the best known in home gaming consoles, the Sony Playstation with some success. The Xbox however, has certainly been one of the only gaming consoles that has truly been able to compete with the Sony Playstation and really amped up the type of games and gaming systems that are on the market.
Microsoft developed the Xbox and began marketing it in the late 1990's. This gaming system was greeted with initial reluctance by the public, as other systems that had competed were good but not quite to the standard of the Playstation. However, word got out that the Xbox was definitely a contender in the video game market and soon became a huge success. Anymore, most homes boast both the Xbox and the Playstation units as each gaming system has their own unique features or games that are made exclusively for that system.
What Is The Xbox 360 Elite?

Xbox 360 Live: Massive Multiplayer Online

Xbox 360 Classic Led

In the days of Pong, it would have been hard to imagine all the video games we take for granted these days. Handheld, high-tech, dancing on a mat that’s recorded by the TV. It would have seemed surreal.

Well, the surreal has become real and the newest addition to the video game revolution is Xbox 360 Live, a truly multimedia, multiplayer experience that surpasses anything we’ve previously understood about video games.

Though many people like to play video games with a friend, it is largely seen as a singular, solitary activity. But with the addition of Xbox 360 Live to the video game lineup, things are socially kickin’ now.

Simply put, Xbox 360 Live is an online gaming service using your Xbox or Xbox 360 video console. You subscribe to the service, and then can play games with or against friends or other players around the world. There are more than 100 Xbox games that are enabled for this service, and all Xbox 360 games are at least “Xbox 360 Live aware”.

What’s most striking about Xbox 360 Live is the method by which you communicate with others. Through a headset that’s either bundled with your gaming system or purchased separately, you can voice or text message your friends or other players. While you are signed on, you can see what your friends are doing, even to the extent you can tell what game they are playing and what level they are on.

Truly, this is not your dad’s Atari.

So, how do you get in on this interesting form of play? First, you should own an Xbox 360 video gaming system. Then you have to subscribe to the service, and given the features, it is surprisingly affordable.

There are a variety of ways to subscribe to Xbox 360 live. If you choose the gold package (most popular), you can get:

- Access to online multiplayer games

- Ability to download Xbox 360 content and access to other downloads

- Enhanced ability to manage your list of friends

How do you purchase these services? There are a few ways. You can purchase a bundle at a store (currently available with rebates) and install. You can also purchase cards with time on them.

For example:

- You can purchase a 12-month Xbox 360 Live subscription card for about $50 or a 3-month subscription card for around $20.

- If you purchase the 3-month premium gold pack, you receive a headset, a 3-month gold membership, 100 Microsoft points, and the Xbox Live arcade game, Joust. This costs about $40 but currently has a $10 rebate.

- Go for the big daddy and purchase the 12-month premium gold pack. This will get you a 12-month membership, the Xbox 360 headset, the Xbox Live arcade game, Bankshot Billiards, and 200 Microsoft points. This costs about $70, but currently has a $20 rebate.

If you’re not sure you want to pay for a membership, there is a free 48-hour trial offer, which allows you to try the service before deciding if you want to subscribe. Like any free trial, this is a great way to decide if this is the right service for you.

Repairing Your Xbox 360 – It’s All Microsoft’s Fault

Microsoft has been sued for violation of consumer protection laws for continuing to sell the Xbox 360 despite being aware the hardware is (allegedly) likely to suffer the Red Rings of Death and fail. "Microsoft cannot deny that the console has a problem, after all it has extended the warranty on all units to cover the general hardware failure indicated by those three flashing red lights for a full three years.

One thing that Microsoft will not do, however, is come clean with the exact size of the problem, although some analysts estimate this to possibly be as high as 15 percent. In many cases, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will charge over $150 USD for repairs to your video game system. If you have ever shipped your video game system to Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony in the past for repairs, or you visited your local video game retailer, undoubtedly you have found that you are just a 'number' on a long list of pending repair orders.

Looks like even the Elite version of the Xbox 360 is not free from the red rings of death. A good thing is to take advice and direction from XBox 360 users just like yourself who got just as frustrated as you are but who also have experience in electronics repair. A few dollars for their troubles and you can have proven, permanent, safe, and easy instructions for fixing your own XBox 360 right now and fast. If it just doesn’t work, get your money back for the manual and send your XBox 360 to microsoft or your local booked-up repair center like you were already planning to do.

Presently, they are all that’s available and more than enough to get your XBox 360 running permanantly. If you didn’t already know it, Microsoft has admitted that there are some serious flaws in this product and Xbox 360 system repair is needed. This has caused more and more people to send their consoles out for an Xbox 360 system fix, and the repair centers are simply too overloaded which makes wait times last up to a month or more. So, if you are experiencing this dilemma and want your Xbox 360 up and running without having to send it away then you are in luck.

First of all, realize there are lot’s of stories, blogs, and other free remedies floating around the net about how to fix Xbox 360 system but alot of them will just end up damaging your Xbox 360. However, there are legitimate manuals that can be purchased and downloaded which are written by experienced Xbox 360 repair people that have proven methods and real guarantees for quick and easy fixes in times as little as an hour or less. Being hesitant about actually taking apart an Xbox 360 may not be a problem since many fixes do not even involve disassembly.

These become permanent fixes for the Xbox 360 and worries about break-downs happening again are vanished. Many people have reported using such Xbox 360 system repair guides and actually getting their Xbox 360 back in working order in under an hour. This certainly seems faster than the alternative turnaround times and expenses by going through the Microsoft repair Xbox 360 system plan. All at home xbox 360 system repair manuals are presently available for under $40.

The Colorful Lights Of Xbox 360 Power Supply How To Determine If There Is Trouble Brewing

Xbox 360 Controller vs Wii & Gamecube Controllers

The Xbox 360 is Microsoft’s revolutionary game console. It is one of the most competitive gaming gadgets in the market. The main console is powered by the Xbox 360 power supply. It is fondly called, the brick by Xbox gamers.
You will notice a LED light on top of the Xbox 360 power supply. This is not a decoration. The light is an indicator if your Xbox 360 power supply is working perfectly. The Xbox power supply indicator may change color. This colorful display could sometimes spell trouble for your power supply.
Here are some tips which could help you in understanding the light indicators of your Xbox 360 power supply.
Green is a Go
If you plug your Xbox 360 power supply to an electric outlet and plug it in to your gaming console, the light indicator should turn green. This means that your Xbox 360 power supply is in perfect condition.
You can now power on your Xbox console and blast the enemies behind the TV screen. You need not worry if you spend hours using your Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 power supply comes with a built-in protection feature against overheating, power surges, and temperature changes.
It will automatically turn itself off if the system detects overheat. It will also turn off if you experience a sudden burst of energy due to lightning surge or power fluctuations.
Orange Means There is Something Wrong with It
If you plug your Xbox 360 power supply to an outlet and see an orange light display, you need to check if the power cord has been plugged incorrectly at the main console. Sometimes this is the cause why the LED indicator of the Xbox 360 power supply is orange. It indicates that the power supply is in standby mode.
If there is nothing wrong with your connections and the light at the Xbox power supply is still orange, try powering on your console. If the Ring of Light at the console will not turn red, orange, or green, then the problem could be with the console.
If the problem persists after checking the game console, then the Xbox 360 power supply could be in trouble. It stays at standby mode which means the brick cannot supply enough power to the console.
Getting Xbox 360 Power Supply Replacement
It is best to just buy an Xbox 360 power supply replacement than attempting to repair it. You can save a lot if you buy a new one than having it serviced by a repair man.
You can find an online retailer that sells genuine Xbox 360 power supply at less than $50. You can save as much as $10 from such retailer. An online Xbox 360 power supply retailer can also deliver the item at no cost to you. Shipping is free and you can get a replacement in less than 24 hours.
If ever a trouble happens with your Xbox 360 power supply, just buy a replacement from an online retailer. It is a more convenient option and practical too.

Learning About The Xbox 360

Gaming systems have always been the wave of the future for many companies. Microsoft is no exception, and the company worked for years to determine the right type of gaming system.

In the late 1990's the gaming market was being dominated by Sony Playstation. This in home game system was definitely a hit with people around the world, and Bill Gates from Microsoft could see the potential for a competing system.

The original Xbox was released in 2001 and Microsoft has certainly reaped the benefits of jumping into the gaming the market. One of its unique features was its memory system built into the console. Other systems required a memory card in order to save the advancement in the game. The Xbox was able to store this information in its hard disc drive, something that gamers found convenient and much easier to use.

Microsoft had to work on designing controllers that would work well with the gaming system and this did take some time and changes of designs. The original controllers were bulky and criticized for being too large. Eventually, the design of the controllers was streamlined to accommodate players and the rapid motion required by players during games. The Xbox 360 also has wireless controllers allowing for players to stand up and move around while playing games.

The Evolution Of The Xbox 360

Microsoft continued to work on and advance the gaming console. Eventually, the Xbox 360 was developed and has been a huge hit with gamers everywhere. The Xbox 360 is one of the most popular gaming consoles ever, and this is in large part due to the graphics and ability of play that is allowed in games.

The Xbox 360 can also attribute its popularity to the games that are designed specifically for that console. The series of games under the Halo name are one of the driving forces behind the popularity of the Xbox 360.

Gamers who love the Halo series have to have an Xbox 360 in order to play Halo. This game itself has boosted the sales of the Xbox 360, generating the growth of the desirability of the system itself.

Microsoft has continued to expand the capabilities of the Xbox 360 by adding a live feature to the system. This allows players to play with others by going through an internet service. Players can enjoy playing with people from around the world.

The Xbox 360 will continue to dominate the gaming market, as long as popular titles are released exclusive to the gaming system and the graphics keep pace with a generation of people who are looking for upscale games.

Searching For The Xbox 360 Emulator

December 26, 2010 by Goldenchute · Leave a Comment

xbox 360 'elite' or better than your current 360

The Xbox 360, manufactured by Microsoft, is probably one of the most versatile and powerful gaming consoles that you will come across. And because it provides the ultimate gaming experience with its high definition graphics and lifelike action, it is no wonder that true gamers wait with baited breath for an Xbox 360 emulator to be released.

The Xbox 360 features an easy to operate interface that even novices have no trouble handling. It allows you to go directly to the option you want by using either using the controller or remote control. Plus, the latest movies look great when they are played back on the Xbox 360. Its multimedia capabilities also allow you to play your favorite movies and view pictures. Plus, the Xbox 360 itself contains its own Xbox emulator making it backwards compatible for previous Xbox games, so there is no need to rush out and purchase new copies of your favorite games.

Games that have been developed for the Xbox 360 are extremely popular and sought after. For this reason, many who play video games look forward to the day when an Xbox 360 emulator will be developed. They wish to see hardware and software made available that allows personal computer users the enjoyment of Xbox games via their PCs.

Those new to video gaming or do not care for this form of entertainment may be wondering what the purpose of an Xbox 360 emulator really is. Why not just buy the Xbox 360 and be done with it? However, it seems that many gamers prefer playing on the system they feel most comfortable with. And for a vast number of them, this system is the PC. In order for video game manufacturers to broaden their market, it does make sense in the end to provide cross platform compatibility.

Basically, video game emulators are systems created to behave like the gaming console that can be operated from your PC or Mac. There are a couple different types of emulators that video game enthusiasts can employ.

The first type is a software emulator, which is installed on your computer just the way that any other type of software is. What it enables your PC to do is to operate on a video game type platform allowing you to play games. It is akin to having dual operating systems installed for your PC - one for work and one for play.

The second type of video game emulator is hardware. It is just like any other hardware device you might purchase for your PC. You connect it and install the software to run it. Video games are then inserted into the hardware and played via this device connected to your computer.

Of course, software developers love emulators because it broadens the appeal of game software while expanding the market. Video game console developers, though, are reluctant to part with the technology that gives them the market share advantage. To console developers, emulators mean less profit and indicate that it is time for a new, more powerful console.

So unfortunately for avid gamers, the Xbox 360 emulator does not yet exist. However, you can be sure that many look forward to the day that one is released.

The New Xbox 360 Elite Video Game Player: Overview And Opinions

As you might have heard, there's a new console in town: Xbox 360™ Elite. For those of you who are not hardcore gamers or are parents of one, you may not know much about the Xbox 360 Elite that was recently released by Microsoft. The Xbox 360 Elite is the third and most expensive variation of the Xbox 360 console in addition to “core” and “premium.” Xbox 360 Elite is equipped with a premium black finish, three powerful core processors, full surround sound, a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cable, and DVD playback. Xbox 360 Elite is now the premier Xbox 360 console package that includes a large 120GB hard drive, a HDMI port, a high-definition cable. The Xbox 360 Elite is set up to extend the entertainment experience of the regular Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 Elite is based on the Zephyr motherboard, which features a HDMI port and an improved GPU heat sink. The $480 Xbox 360 Elite is black instead of white, includes a hard drive that is six times as large as the previous 360s and twice as big as the rival PS3s. The HDMI output makes for easier hookups to HDTVs. While it's primarily a game machine, the Xbox 360 Elite is a digital media hub as well. Users report that initial setup of the Xbox 360 Elite is easy; you just select the language and then either establish your Xbox Live account or re-link to an existing account. The consensus of opinion on the web seems to be that the Xbox 360 Elite is mainly for people who haven't bought a Xbox 360 yet and that the Xbox 360 Elite is a great choice for only $80 more than the premium version. The Xbox 360 Elite is still cheaper than Sony's 80GB console, but does lack some features such as a Blu-ray drive or any other integrated WiFi solution, as some gamers necessitate. The bottom line opinion, though, seems to be that while it's neither a must-have upgrade for existing 360 owners nor as feature-packed as the PS3, the Xbox 360 Elite's combination of top-notch gaming and digital media features make it the current game console of choice.

Xbox 360 Elite Features and News

The Xbox 360 Elite also includes a black wireless controller and black Xbox LIVE® headset. There is currently a rumor of a price drop on the way that the core and premium will get a $50 price drop but the Elite will only get a $29 price drop.

Microsofts Xbox 360 Vs The Sonys Playstation 3

Microsoft has tried to catch up with some of the titans of the gaming world, such as Sony with the release of the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 offers many new features that players will love:It offers great media features including listening to music while you play games, the ability to create custom playlists and your own custom soundtracks, the ability to rip songs from original CDs to your Xbox 360 and stream music from your MP3 player to your Xbox 360. You can also create slideshows of photos to share with friends and family. Xbox 360 has a wireless controller. No more tripping over the wires, although it can support two wired controllers through USB ports in the front. The game console is not only great for gamers, but developers as well. It is a powerful machine with an unprecedented amount of RAM - a feature added on the request of developers.Their Japanese third party support is lacking - While some Japanese developers offer software for the Xbox, it is small in number when compared to what the same developers offer for Playstation. While the controller is wireless, it eats batteries rather quickly. Standard alkaline batteries only last about thirty hours, so if you buy Xbox 360, invest in rechargeable batteries to save yourself some money in the end. When they were set up in WalMart stores before days before the launch, many suffered what is known as the Xbox "360 screen of death," an error screen. The Xbox 360 had also had some problems with overheating. Some report the Xbox 360 system as being very noisy when playing an Xbox 360 disc. Here are a few attractive features of the Playstation 3:Here are a few reported cons and problems with the Playstation 360:The launch of the Playstation 3 has already been delayed due to disk problems.

Both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are incredible gaming consoles. It seems that although the Xbox 360 came out first, the best bet is still the Playstation 3. The strongest point of the Xbox 360 is its online functionality, but Sony may be working on something similar to Xbox Live right now. However, Microsoft is closing the gap with Xbox 360 and probably will eventually catch up with Sony in gaming consoles. For some users, it may come down to something as simple as which one is more compatible with the games they already own.

Features Of The Xbox 360

My XBOX 360 Setup 1

Do you know what's special about the Xbox 360? Here are some of the features you can expect from Xbox 360:

Ring of Light and Xbox Guide Button. The ring of light is the power button and it is divided into four quadrants that can display a number of different colors depending on what is going on.

The Xbox Guide button is prominently featured on the controller as well as the Xbox 360 remote. This will allow you to instantly access information on person who just challenged you on Xbox Live. Or you can even jump right to where you can find downloadable content for the game you are currently playing. The Xbox Guide button will also allow you to turn the Xbox 360 system on and off from the comfort of your couch. That is one great idea that is has long been overdue.

Xbox Live – There will be two types of Xbox Live for the Xbox 360.

The Silver version is free. It allows you to access the Xbox Live Marketplace as well as communicate with your friends using voice chat. However, you cannot play games online.

With the Gold version of Xbox Live, you get all of the possible features. Most importantly, you can play games online. Your achievements and statistics will be stored so you can check them whenever you want. You will also be able to use video chat and video messaging. Microsoft has announced that all new Xbox 360 owners will get Gold Service feature for the first month. After that, the pricing will be similar to Xbox Live on the current Xbox.

Xbox Live Marketplace. Another great feature of Xbox 360. The marketplace is an area where you will be able to download game demos and trailers as well as new content for games such as new levels, characters, vehicles, weapons, and many others. Some things are free of charge but you will have to pay for some premium content.

Digital Entertainment. The Xbox 360 allows you to rip your music to the hard drive to be used during games. It will also stream music off of any MP3 player that you plug into the USB 2.0 ports. This is including Sony PSP.

You can also upload photos to the hard drive and share them with your friends on Xbox Live. The Xbox 360 also features DVD movies. Unlike the original Xbox, the Xbox 360 can display them in progressive scan. It seems like DVD playback will be available out of the box and will not require the purchase of an extra remote or anything. Definitely an improvement.

Personalizing your console. With the interchangeable faces of the system itself, you can change the color of your system whenever you want by simply snapping on a new face.

You do not even have to buy new faces because you could simply paint the stock face yourself. It is guaranteed that Microsoft will roll out a line of limited edition and collectible faces to lure people in, though.

You will also be able to customize the look and feel of the Xbox Guide browser on the system. Suspiciously similar to changing themes in Windows on your computer. Customization is always a good thing and while these features do not really mean anything in the long run, they certainly provide a nice change every once in awhile.

Xbox 360 and its great features are a great deal unto itself.

Basically, the hard drive is the one playing a major role in how you can use the Xbox 360. You are given the choice of saving the progress of the game on the hard drive, as well as rip your CDs to it.

You can transfer music, videos, and photos from your mp3 player or other USB devices. It will also be necessary to spend more time on Xbox Live because custom content, patches, and other downloadable content needs to be put stored somewhere and a little 64MB memory card isn’t going to cut it.

The hard drive is required for backwards compatibility. The other bonus to having such a hard drive is that loading time is faster especially in some games and other performances boosts.

With all these Xbox features up for grabs, what more can you ask for?

XBOX 360 Controller Cupcake

When it comes to graphics, the Xbox 360 has superior graphics compared to the Wii; however the PS3 is more than likely going to be the winner in the graphics department. But still, the Xbox 360 isn’t a slouch. If you take one second to take a glance at “Gears of War”, you will see the real future for high definition gaming. The Xbox 360 was the very first next-generation gaming console that was released, so it already has a year’s worth of accessories and games on hand.

The Xbox 360 Premium version sells for three hundred and ninety nine dollars, which is about two hundred dollars less than the top shelf offering price for the PS3. For one hundred and ninety nine dollars and ninety nine cent, Microsoft has released a HD-DVD drive for this Xbox 360 gaming console. In the event that you want to watch one of your favorite movies in high definition, this would be a really good option, particularly if you already have the Xbox 360 gaming console.

In a manner that is nearly hassle free, Xbox Live offers online gaming with multiplayers. After you have completed the sign up process, all you will have left to do is pop in your absolute favorite game, and then connect to the service and you are all set. This service also provide a wide variety of downloads that are completely free, which ranges from music videos to some movie trailers and then to demos of all of the upcoming games for the Xbox 360.

Beginning on the 22nd of November, the Xbox Live Marketplace is going to be selling television shows and movies that are in both high definition and standard. So, in other words, this is really Microsoft’s answer to the popular iTunes. The exact price of these shows and movies hasn’t been actually set in stone and there are still a couple of questions over exactly how the twenty GB hard drive is going to be able to store all of the high definition content which hogs the memory.

The only major criticism that the Xbox 360 has received is that it is mainly geared toward all of the hardcore games. The casual members are very hesitant to spend so much money on an expensive toy that they are not going to be using on a regularly basis. More than likely, the Wii is going to fill this void because of its price and its highly enjoyable and simple games.

Even though the Xbox 360 is truly a powerful gaming system, the PS3 approaches supercomputer performance with the cell chip it has. However, in the long term, the Playstation 3 is going to have games that are more advanced in relationship to the graphics. In the event that you think the price for the PS3 is too expensive, the Xbox 360 can be just as pricey if you ever decide to purchase the HD-DVD drive also.

Overall, the Xbox 360’s power supply is nearly the size of a red brick, so even though the console may appear to look stylish and sleek, you are going to need to find a really nice hiding place for its very ugly appendage. Keep in mind, that everyone has their very own opinion about the Xbox 360; it is up to you to decide whether or not the Xbox 360 is the right gaming console for you. Most likely, you are going to determine that the Xbox 360 is exactly what you are looking for. In the event that you decide to purchase an Xbox 360, make sure that you take the time to look around for the best deals on the prices, because some places offer better prices on the Xbox 360 than others. All-in-all, enjoy your new Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 Mod Chip – What Is It, And Why You Should Have One!

As a serious gamer myself, I love to see games before they hit our shores here in North America. But more than that, I am always looking for the hottest and most unique games I can get my hands on. Unfortunately, many of those games just don't come to our side of the ocean from Japan. Typically, since the days of the original Nintendo NES, Japanese gamers have enjoyed much more unique and often times much better games than their North American Counter Parts. I've been very fortunate to be able to play many of these Japanese games while I was living in Japan, but when I returned back home to Canada, I simply could not find many of the games that I had played with such pleasure while in Japan. So I searched and researched and found exactly what I needed to be able to just put those Japanese games into game console and really start playing again. What I found was a Mod Chip, for my Playstation console. And I've been using mod chips ever since then. Having most recently purchased and installed my Xbox 360 Mod Chip into my system - and I've got games from Japan on the way.

So Just what IS a mod chip? Let me explain. A modification chip or mod chip is a device used to play import, backup, or home brew games. Mod Chips first came into "fame" when die hard, hard core gamers who were tired of the slim offerings that were made available for them in the USA, wanted to get their hands on the often better and more unique Japanese games that were coming out for their game console. This is nothing new, even the Nintendo NES has a device that allowed gamers to plug Japanese Famicom cartridges into their USA NES system so that they could play those really unique Japanese games, or the latest Mario offering that was only available (or came out much sooner) in Japan.

Mod chips are available for all the major video game consoles, including the Xbox 360, Xbox, Sony PSP, PlayStation, Playstation 2 and GameCube. Almost all modern console gaming systems have hardware-based schemes which ensure that only officially sanctioned games may be used with the system and implement regional lockout similar to the scheme used in DVD movies. The specific technical nature of these DRM systems varies by system, and may include cryptographic signing (Xbox), intentionally unreadable sectors (PlayStation, Sega Saturn), custom optical media (GameCube, Dreamcast), or some combination thereof. Modchips are available also for some DVD players, to defeat region code enforcement and user operation prohibitions.

Modchips typically require some level of technical ability to install. Most commonly, modchips must be soldered on to a console's motherboard, although there are no-solder install kits (which instead rely on the precise positioning of electrical contacts within the case) which work with some revisions of the PlayStation 2 and Xbox hardware.

As console systems got better and better, a whole following of home brew developers starting making their own software for their consoles. Software like the Xbox Media Center (XMBC) as well as their own little games and programs to stream video and audio. But in order to play / run this software, users are required to be able to load unsigned / home brew code onto their system. This is where mod chips come in. Not only do they allow you to play the latest game offerings from Japan, which as stated earlier, are often much better both graphically and in the way of originality than the games that are for the North American market.

As with any new system, and the new mod chips that first come out - we're always hit with loads of "compatibility" issues. Much like when the ps2 mod chip first came out, they had chips (different chips) for each "version" of the ps2 console. And the Xbox 360 mod chips are no exception. The very first chips that came out were for very specific "versions" of the XBox 360. First it was a mod chip for the Samsung drives .. Which means that if your XBox 360 had a samsung DVD drive, then you needed to buy an Xbox 360 mod chip that worked on the SAMSUNG drive, to bypass the current firmware.

Then the Team Underdog chip came out, this chip had 2 versions. One for the samsung drives, and another one for the LG/Hitachi Drives. So again, you were "stuck" having to find out exactly which Xbox 360 you had, in order to select the right chip for your console.

Now, as with most developments in the mod chip manufacturing world, eventually, some very smart programmers and developers finally get it right. Naturally, it is common sense to assume that customers would be much more likely to buy a mod chip for their Xbox 360 is they could do away with the "version" checking, and buy a chip that they KNOW will work in their Xbox 360 console... Of course, when they take it apart after receiving their chip, they WILL have to find out which model they have so they can use the right installation directions - but they don't have to fret or worry that the chip they have purchased may NOT be compatible with their XBox 360.

Much like any product, customers want the peace of mind of knowing that what they are buying will simply just WORK, and in the case of mod chips, will work in their Xbox 360 console regardless of the version of the Xbox 360 that they purchased.

In comes the Globe 360 Xbox 360 Mod Chip. The Globe 360 is the world's First Xbox 360 mod chip that is compatible with ALL DVD Drives currently on the market! Rather than having to figure out which model drive you have, as you do with other chips, the Globe360 Xbox 360 Mod chip works in ANY drive model to date. And the home brew software that is available is outstanding - and I expect it to get a whole lot better. My Xbox already acts as a complete media center, even streaming Google Videos directly from the Internet. And my Playstation 2 has been transformed from just an awesome games machine to a DVD Player, DivX Player, MP3 Player, and streaming content directly to the console from the Internet makes it something that I could not do without.

To sum it up, if you have an Xbox 360, then you should really consider getting an Xbox 360 mod chip. Not only will you be able to protect your expensive investments by making backup copies of your own original games, and putting the originals away for safe keeping, but you'll also open up a whole new world of games that you simply would not be able to play otherwise. There are truly very unique (and playable) Japanese games that we'll simply never see otherwise. And if home brew or cool utilities, applications or add-ons are your thing, then having a mod chip is an absolute must.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 vs. The Sony’s Playstation 3

Microsoft has tried to catch up with some of the titans of the gaming world, such as Sony with the release of the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 offers many new features that players will love:

Free limited subscription to online gaming - This allows players who have not been participating in online gaming a chance to see what is available at no charge. All Xbox 360s come with Live-aware - This means you can get a friend invite or see who is online and what they are playing from your Xbox 360. The button in the middle of the controller makes all this very easy.

It offers great media features including listening to music while you play games, the ability to create custom playlists and your own custom soundtracks, the ability to rip songs from original CDs to your Xbox 360 and stream music from your MP3 player to your Xbox 360. You can also create slideshows of photos to share with friends and family. Xbox 360 has a wireless controller. No more tripping over the wires, although it can support two wired controllers through USB ports in the front. The game console is not only great for gamers, but developers as well. It is a powerful machine with an unprecedented amount of RAM - a feature added on the request of developers.

But, Xbox 360 still has some problems that need to be worked out:

Their Japanese third party support is lacking - While some Japanese developers offer software for the Xbox, it is small in number when compared to what the same developers offer for Playstation.

Many people are eagerly awaiting the release of Playstation 3, which may occur as soon as November of this year. It has been said that the Playstation 3 has an outward feel (which allows it to stand vertically or horizontally on its own), as opposed to the Xbox 360's inward feel. It is a much larger console than the Playstation 2 and closer to the original size of the Xbox. Game discs slide into the console like CDs slide into a car player.

Here are a few attractive features of the Playstation 3:

It is always on, so you can access your Playstation 3 from anywhere as long as you have an Internet connection. With a Playstation Portable, you can connect to your Playstation 3 and transfer media such as music and movies. The Playstation 3 appears to be much more powerful than that Xbox 360, Ninetindo Revolution, and Playstation 2. Initial reports say it will be twice as fast as the Xbox 360. Developers and publishers of over 230 games have announced titles for Playstation 3 games.

Here are a few reported cons and problems with the Playstation 360:

Comes with only 256 MB, less than the 512 MB the Xbox 360 will come with. Their Playstation Network Platform (the online service) is still in development and may not be ready by the time Playstation 3 is released.

The launch of the Playstation 3 has already been delayed due to disk problems.

It was a game that both you and your friends enjoyed, but had not beaten yet. If you know how to copy Xbox 360 games then you have a back up, if something does go wrong.

Making an FTP Connection between your PC and Xbox

Before copying Xbox 360 games, you will need to have a modded Xbox. You will also need a crossover cable that fits your computer Ethernet port, a new or custom hacked dashboard on your Xbox, FlashFXP (an FTP program). Your Xbox will also need to be flashed; auto installers can do this step.

Once you have all these things You will need to do the following steps:

Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter

1. Turn on the Static IP on your Xbox 360

2. Set your IP to 192.168.0.100.

3. Set Subnet Mask should be 255.255.255.0.

4. Save these settings on your Xbox 360

5. Connect the Xbox to your PC with the cable to the Ethernet port.

6. On your computer go to Network Connections and then Properties, set the IP and Subnet Mask to the same as the settings on your Xbox 360.

7. Turn off your computer's firewall before booting up your Xbox

8. Open FlashFXP

9. To connect click on the quick connection symbol (a lightning bolt) and then put the IP address that is on your computer and Xbox as the URL.

Creating an X-iso File Before this step you will need Qwix that is a freeware software that you can download to help make ISO files.

1. Click on the create ISO button and then select FTP folder.

2. browse the games you want to copy.

3. If you are copying games stored on your Xbox hard drive or Xbox DVD drive then browse where these games are stored or select from your D drive.

6. Remember to make sure that the save as type that you have chosen is ISO file.

Your Xbox needs a MOD-chip to run copied games on it. A MOD-chip will also allow you to play xbox 360 games from all over the world as well as any free download games. Ask around and see what MOD-chips are considered reliable. The other option is to reprogram your BIOS so that it will play your copied games.

The modification of any part of the Xbox 360, or its games, can be seen as risky. This article has a strong disclaimer against and copying of games for them to be pass on to others, or any type of modification which would be against Microsoft terms of use. This is purely advice, which should be checked before use.

3 Red Lights on Your XBox 360 – Don’t Try the Towel Fix

Filed under: Video & Online Games

As you are reading this article then there is a good chance that you have come across the red ring of death on your XBox 360, which is indicated by 3 red lights displaying on your gaming machine XBox's ring of light.

There is a also a good possibility that you have searched the internet for ways to fix this error and come across a method of repairing your XBox 360 called the towel fix or towel trick.

This seems like a quick and easy way of getting your XBox 360 back up and running, but you need to be aware of the drawbacks of using this method.

* What is the towel fix?

Basically the towel fix involves wrapping a towel around your XBox 360. In short the fix goes as follows:

1. Wrap a towel around your Xbox 360.

2. Switch your XBox 360 on for around 10-15 minutes.

3. Turn off your XBox; remove the towel and leave to cool down.

4. Switch your XBox back on.

If this doesn't resolve your problem then try again.

* Why is the towel fix supposed to work?

The 3 red lights on your XBox 30 error is caused by overheating which makes the solder connections inside your machine to loosen and crack. Supposedly the towel fix raises the temperature inside your XBox to such a degree that the solder softens and causes the connections to re-join.

* Why shouldn't I try the towel fix?

Because it is only a temporary fix. Those who have tried the towel fix and got it to work have also reported that their XBox 360 was repaired for only a short while. In some cases it has a caused their XBox to work for a few weeks, but in most cases it has only worked for a day or two.

Also, the 3 red lights on your xBox 360 is an overheating error, think about it, how can wrapping a towel around your XBox 360, consequently covering all vents and causing your XBox to overheat even more be a permanent fix.

There is a potential for bringing the temperature inside your XBox to such a high degree that it can start a fire which could transfer to the towel and possibly your home.

* So what can I do?

1. Get in touch with Microsoft support and send it away for repair. The main drawback with this option is that it could cost you around $150 if your XBox is no longer covered by its warranty and it could take between 1 and 2 months to be repaired and returned to you.

2. Buy a new XBox 360. Some people with this error (especially if it is out of warranty) have simply decided to purchase a brand new to enable them to get back to gaming as quickly as possible. In some cases they have sold their faulty XBox 360 on eBay in order to cover some of the cost of their new purchase. Many people who know how to fix the red ring of death buy faulty XBox 360's in order to fix and resell them. Of course there is a potential for your XBox to either not sell or only sell for a few dollars.

3. Your third choice is to fix the XBox 360 red ring of death yourself. This is not as hard as you may think, there are many guides to fixing the Xbox 360 red ring of death which you can get for much less than the price of a new XBox 360 or the cost of sending it back for repair to Microsoft.

These Xbox 360 repair guides give you full instructions, many with instructional videos, to enable you to fix the 3 red lights on your XBox 360 error yourself, with tools you probably already have in your home, in around 1 - 2 hours.

At the end of the day it's up to you if you want to take a chance and try the towel fix, but you do so at your own risk. Just be sure you have taken into account all the points and options raised in this article and make sure you do not leave your Xbox 360 unattended.

Xbox 360 Faceplates To Customize Your Xbox

Now that you have your Xbox 360 and you're spending every minute you can with your new toy, how do you take your gaming to the next level? Let everyone know how serious you are by getting custom Xbox 360 faceplates. Any schmuck can have an Xbox but what sets you apart from those who dabble in gaming is having your very own customized Xbox 360 faceplates. With customized faceplates you can put your own distinct personality and take on gaming onto your Xbox. Whether you want Xbox 360 faceplates to match you or your favorite games there is a faceplate out there for you.

Xbox 360 Mastuff...

Why Bother?
Your first thought might be why bother at all with getting faceplates. Your Xbox is fine the way it is. Think again, your shiny new Xbox is not always going to stay that way. Over time there are going to be scratches on your Xbox. Do you really want that? To keep your Xbox looking new and shiny get Xbox 360 faceplates and protect your Xbox from scratches and at the same time make it uniquely yours.
Retro to Out There
You can make your Xbox look seriously old school with Xbox 360 faceplates that come in wood grains for that cool vintage look that?s always in. Or find a design that says you whether in color or the design. You can even customize your Xbox 360 faceplates yourself by designing your own faceplates with a skin template. The point is that whatever you want your Xbox to look like there is something out there that will definitely make you want to pimp your Xbox.
Look for faceplates that are easy to remove so that the next time you feel like upgrading the look of your Xbox you can without leaving any of that sticky stuff that most stickers leave behind. You want something that will stay on but not something that is impossible to take off. Having the same faceplates all the time would be so boring so leave yourself the option of future customization.
And if you really like your design make sure that it?s something that will last. Look for faceplates that have a protective layer. This will keep your faceplate from fading any blurring into a mess when it?s exposed to heat and direct sunlight. Vinyl faceplates are probably your best bet. They look great and they will last long while you?re in between faceplates.

Xbox 360 vs ps3
dear, Readers

Since the xbox 360 and Ps3 have been released there have been, disscusions, debates, arguments, fights about which console is better, but thats enough, i will give some information about these consoles and tell you about my opinion

Xbox 360:
The good thing about the xbox 360 is its High Definition and the graphics.

The xbox 360 is clear winner in graphics. When you buy the Xbox 360 Premium it contains loads of accessories like:headset, internet cable, 1 wireless controller,1 game, 20Gb hard drive and other accessories that you have to buy for a small amount of money.

The xbox Live service (online) is absolutely fantastic. On xbox live you can download demos of new games and trailers, also you have media center so that you can transfer files from your Pc to your xbox 360.

Another notable thing is that the 360 is very cheap (except Elite)compared to the Ps3 and because of that most people buy the 360 instead of the Ps3. The other reason why people buy the 360 instead of the ps3 is because the 360 has much more games, and better games then the ps3.

Also the long awaited release of Halo 3 on the 26 of september wil make people buy the xbox 360 .

Ps3:the good thing about the ps3 is that its got blue ray. the graphics arent bad on the ps3 but xbox 360 is still much much better. The Ps3 has 60 Gb hard drive and has rechargeble game controllers.

The Ps3 is at the moment the most expensive console on the market, also the ps3 has got a nice design and loads of media features, and full internet connectivity.

As you can notice the ps3 is more like a computer instead of a game console.
also the online service is crap because it keeps crashing or is very slow.

So far sony are dissapointing because they havent sold as many consoles for the ps3 as they expected coz of the expensive price and because of the low number of ps3 games released.

So the answer is easy.

Xbox 360 vs. PS3: An In Depth Look

October 6, 2010 by Goldenchute · Leave a Comment

Red Ring of Death: RRoD 1 Microsoft Xbox 360

All gamers are awaiting the release of the Xbox 360 and the PS3. This article takes an in depth look at how the two systems compare.

Graphics:

Everyone has seen an Xbox and a PS2 in action and we are all waiting to see which of the two next generation consoles for the two systems will have the edge when it comes to graphics. We have all seen the screenshots of the games on the two systems but what about actual gameplay graphics. Despite the hot debate, when you look at the numbers the two systems use a different but equally effective method of delivering graphics processing power. The XBOX uses a custom ATI processor with 48 graphics pipelines and the PS2 has a custom NVIDA graphics processor with an estimated 24 pipelines. The numbers are misleading because the PS2 piplines are more powerful than the XBOX pipelines. In the end the two different graphics processors will deliver about the same amount of power, we can expect to see impressive results from both sides.

Games:

Both systems have several franchise titles such as Halo2 for the XBOX and Gran Tourismo for the PS2 that you will see in the next generation systems, but what other games can you expect to see. If you are a fan of genres such as role playing that are dominated by Japanese and other foreign developers such as Square, you should look forward to the PS3. There is no indication that the XBOX 360 is going to gain much more support from foreign developers and buyers than the original XBOX. An article on GameSpot.com reports that only two percent of Japanese gamers are interested in buying an XBOX 360, with sixty percent looking forward to the PS3 and eight percent to the Nintendo Revolution. Overall you can expect to see more games on the PS3 than the XBOX 360, reflecting the selection for the current generation systems. Only time will which console will have the quality of games which all of us are been expecting

Media Type:

Will the media storage type be a factor in the quality of the games? Since PS3 is owned by Sony and BLUray is Sony’s next high definition storage medium, the PS3 games will be stored on the BLUray discs which hold approximately 54 gigs. The Xbox 360 games will be stored on Double Layer DVDs which store 9 gigs. Obviously the BLUray discs can store a lot more data, but at the current stage of game development, any game developed will fit just as well on the 9 gig DVDs, so this is not a major factor but one that may come into play later on.

Processing Power:

How do the two systems compare when looking at brute processing power? The PS3 uses a Cell processor with a PowerPC-based core with seven synergistic processing units while the Xbox comes with a Custom IBM PowerPC CPU with three dual-threaded cores that can handle six total threads at a time. An important comparison to look at is the number of dot product calculations per second the systems can perform. The reason this number is important is because it is used extensively during gameplay in 3d math to calculate various things such as vector lengths, projections, transformations, and more. Both systems are clocked at 3.2 Ghz. The PS3 can handle 51-billion dot product operations per second and the Xbox can handle 33.6. There is a debate over which system has more brute processing power and these numbers can be confusing to the average person, but overall it seems that the PS3 has an edge over the Xbox when it comes to overall processing power.

Media Type:

Since PS3 is owned by Sony and BLUray is Sony’s next high definition storage medium, the PS3 games will be stored on the BLUray discs which hold approximately 54 gigs. The Xbox 360 games will be stored on Double Layer DVDs which store 9 gigs. Obviously the BLUray discs can store a lot more data, but at the current stage of game development, any game developed will fit just as well on the 9 gig DVDs, so this is not a major factor but one that may come into play later on.

Games:

When considering games, you have to look at the XBOX and the PS2. The XBOX is very popular in the US and has a few great franchise games such as Halo, but the PS2 has an international reach and several popular game franchises such as Gran Tourismo that the XBOX has yet to beat. The XBOX 360 will need to appeal to foreign game developers and consumers to compete with the PS3. Only time will which console will have the quality of games which all of us are been expecting

Controllers:

The controllers on the two systems retain the basic shape from the original systems with some modifications. The PS3 controller has the most dramatic change; it has a streamline shape that looks more like a stealth airplane than a game controller. The XBOX controller is basically the same shape as the previous system with a different color scheme. From the pictures released, it seems the XBOX controller will be more comfortable and natural to use. The PS3 controller looks like it would just slip out of your hand but we will not know how the controllers feel during actual gameplay until we get our hands on them.

Xbox 360 PGR4 Prize 4

This Christmas, you can expect great prices on wholesale Xbox 360 and wholesale PlayStation 3. Microsoft, the creator of Xbox and Sony, maker of PlayStation 3 will surely make some great announcement for the coming Holiday Season. This is sure in coming as what they usually do when Holiday season approaches.

This actually, can be assumed as one of their own ways of thanking the gaming public for patronizing their product every year.It is expected that with the ever increasing sale of their products, Microsoft and Sony will go a long way in handing out to the gaming public very affordable prices for Christmas gaming equipments. This will indeed be a big help to many parents who are intending to give either Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 as their Christmas present to their children.

We do hope that a surprise announcement will be made anytime by these two companies in relation to the much anticipated Christmas discounts on prices of wholesale Xbox 360 and wholesale PlayStation 3. For wholesalers, just keep your fingers crossed and hope the big price discounts will come true.

To be truthful about it, this has been the much talked about situation between rivals of when will announcements will be made and if there is indeed a big time discount that will happen considering the economic turbulence that has been sweeping the nation for the past months. Recent news about the Xbox 360 and why it will be a hot sell this 2008 Holiday Season and how to take advantage of it. Many people had been eagerly waiting for any news about Holiday Season wholesale discounts coming from Microsoft and Sony, makers of Xbox360 and PlayStation 3.

Their expectations were granted when barely three weeks ago, Microsoft reduced the price of the Arcade Xbox 360 to GBP 129.99, the premium unit to GBP 169.99 and the Xbox 360 Elite GBP 229.99. Although these announcements were quoted in pounds, you can just imagine the wholesale discount that you, as a wholesaler of Xbox 360 can take advantage of.

In terms of other currencies, this price cuts offered by Microsoft for their Xbox 360 gaming consoles can translate anywhere from 10 to 15 per cent in discounts from their regular quoted price. You can surely take advantage of this wholesale Xbox 360 price cuts. For wholesale PlayStation 3, I think price cuts will also be forthcoming.

With this move coming from Microsoft, it is expected that the overall sale of Xbox 360 will jump this gift giving season. Many wholesalers have already readjusted their sales target in anticipation for a mad rush by online buyers to take advantage of this holiday price cuts from Microsoft. It was fully noted that just two weeks after the announcement, many wholesalers have already increased their orders and are now readjusting their sales target for the season on their Xbox 360 gaming equipment.

Even buyers of gaming equipments are now beginning to reassess their priority from PlayStation 3 towards the more cheaply priced Xbox 360 because of the new price cuts of Microsoft. This development should undercut the marketing effort of Sony and would surely bear on them to make their own price cuts to counter the effects of a much cheaper Xbox 360. This surely will be to the advantage of wholesalers if the wholesale Xbox 360 and the wholesale PlayStation 3 will have price cuts that you will not want to miss!

Xbox 360 Elite

Game controllers used to be tied done by bulky cables that forced gamers to plug and unplug their controllers into their console. However, with advancements in the transmission of wireless data, Microsoft was able to fit a access for their Xbox 360 system. If you would like to be free from the clutter of wires, check out an Xbox 360 wireless controller.

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Features

The Xbox 360 wireless controller has many different features that gamers should find very appealing. Lets look into them in detail:

1. Up to four wireless controllers - Games can use up to four wireless controllers at any given time. They also have a range of thirty feet for access. This could very helpful for any games using the larger screens. This would allow you to sit back in comfort and play from a distance rather than having to be in cable distance.

2. Headset Port - For online gaming, the Xbox 360 wireless controller comes with a headset port, This allows you to hook your headset to the controller to transmit the data back to the bass unit.

This streamlines the Xbox Live service, and gamers will have much more freedom and be more effective while playing games.

The integrated Xbox 360 guide button allows gamers access online menus so that they can check other online players statistics and achievements, something that has become a major part of the Xbox 360 game advantage.

3. Improved battery life - The controller has had the expected battery life improved and recharging (or replacing) the batteries as easy as possible.

4. New left and right shoulder buttons are designed for ease of use - An improvement over previous design.

5. Adjustable vibration settings - This allows gamers to preserve battery charge by using less power. Vibrations in controllers have been used for years now to enjoy games, but gamers can now preserve battery charge by lowering the settings.

Also the Xbox 360 wireless controller also has a built in warning light so that when battery power is getting low, they have plenty of time to recharge the batteries. (2 AA batteries)

My prediction for recharging is that they will go the same way as up the quality PC mouse cordless mouse, which will only require plugging into the base unit, and no batteries at all.

The Xbox 360 wireless controller is a huge upgrade over the pervious wired models. Long range and power control features set this controller above the rest, and other smaller enhancements like the headset port really make it a major advancement compared to the previous Xbox.

If you're still using a wired controller, you owe it to yourself to buy the new Xbox 360 wireless controller - it is the future here now.

Xbox 360 Red Ring Of Death – Causes, Prevention And Fix

First XBOX 360 hands-on images?

There have been a lot of questions on the internet as to how to fix or repair Xbox 360 red lights or red ring of death error. Working as a test engineer and testing Xbox 360 games every day, I got interested: my Xbox 360 at work has never experienced such a problem, but after consulting my colleagues I understood that the issue is far from being resolved. So, I tried my best to disclose the red ring of death mystery and offer some methods to help those who are in despair.

THREE RED LIGHTS ISSUE CAUSES

I found out top 3 reasons why Xbox 360 red ring of death error appears.

Reason 1: Overheating

It is evident overheating may damage electronics and Xbox 360 console has got the same components inside as a high-end gaming personal computer.

Reason 2: Poor Xbox 360 graphics processor unit technical side

Your console video card may require too much cooling, and the fan might not cope with that task.

Reason 3: Bad Power Brick Position

The power brick in the console may be responsible for overheating.

3 RED LIGHTS ERROR PREVENTION

In order to prevent the red ring of death error you are advised:

* To keep your console far from heating devices like radiators,

* Not to keep your power brick on the floor,

* To use additional fans or other cooling devices available on the market.

XBOX 360 RED RING OF DEATH FIX

You are sure to have heard about several ways to fix Xbox 360 red lights issue if you have been studying the topic for at least some hours. You should have then found out something about the "towel" method, which I find exotic and really harmful. After finding out that the problem consists in overheating one should be crazy to cover his or her Xbox 360 console into a towel!

The only safe way to fix the red lights issue is to exchange your console for a new working one. It is possible as Microsoft released a statement formally announcing the problem and offered a 3-year warranty for this specific fault. The only down side of this was that the console had to be sent back to Microsoft, who would then send a new one "within a few weeks". You are getting a free Xbox 360 console with free shipping so really there is no real harm in choosing this option.

If your MS warranty is void, you might need to try the ways to repair your Xbox 360 console yourself. The Do-It-Yourself way consists in taking Xbox 360 apart and then reassembling it. It is possible to do everything using a mere screwdriver. All you have to do is to take the cover off, take the hard drive out, leave the console like this for some time and then reassemble the console. This way may guarantee that your console will work as usual if the red ring of death appeared due to overheating, and as you see overheating is the major 3 red lights error cause.

If that doesn't help, you had better try looking for a new console as your console might suffer from a hardware failure that cannot be fixed using usual house tools.

The Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Powerful Gaming In A Box

Gone are the days of drab, underpowered gaming consoles with limited features. The Microsoft Xbox 360 is here! It doesn't matter if you are a serious gamer or a mere hobbyist, the Xbox 360 that Microsoft launched in November 2005 is suitable for all players. It claims to have taken into consideration all the facets of ultimate gaming experience with this much-improved version of the original Microsoft Xbox that came out in November 2001.On the other hand, if you are one of those to whom "money is no object," you may just go ahead and buy the entire Microsoft Xbox 360 system, where everything is all in (i.e., the console with premium chrome finish, a wireless controller, the Xbox Live headset, component hard drive-AV cable, the Ethernet cable that allows you to connect with the other players, and the hard drive that contains an array of original Xbox games and allows you to download even more games. Since the Xbox 360 allows up to four wireless controllers operating on one console, it lets you play with three other players simultaneously for that added fun and challenge in live competition. When attached to your TV, the Microsoft Xbox 360 takes advantage of the high-definition TV resolution in its full color and size that makes the game movie-like. Its anti-aliasing capability renders the animation flawlessly smooth and non-jerky, and the characters seem as though they are jumping out of the wide screen! When you are connected to the Internet via the Ethernet card, you have the Xbox Live headset, a facility that allows you to voice-chat with other players, thus combining active gaming with socialization.Pressure is on for movie makers and game programmers/manufacturers to properly and visibly indicate the appropriate rating of their products on the packaging to provide guidance for buyers. In this regard, it is an added attraction to parents that the Microsoft Xbox 360 has settings that allow them to control how it is used by their children. The box has Family Settings which enable parents to shield their children from unsavory or unwholesome contacts. Family Settings perform two functions on the Xbox 360 console-to allow or restrict access to offline games and/or DVD movies, and access to online contact and content via the Xbox Live environment. The rest of the ESRB ratings are: T (teen), which may also contain minimal violence, mild-to-strong language and/or suggestive themes; M (mature 17+) containing mature sexual themes or more intense violence and language; AO (adults only, for players aged 18+), which may include more graphic sexual themes and/or violence; and RP (rating pending) for games that have not been officially released yet.

With the safeguard placed by the Family Settings of the Microsoft Xbox 360 console, the parent feels safe buying the system for their kids. So, whatever the gaming preference of the child - or the parent! -- Microsoft Xbox 360 promises to satisfy them.

The Battle Of The Game Consoles: Playstation 3 Vs. Xbox 360

Car Personality Axis, And Where XBox and XBox 360 Are

The Battle of the Game Consoles: PlayStation 3 vs. XBOX 360

The gaming world was once dominated by the one and only game console known as the PlayStation but When Microsoft entered the gaming world with the XBOX , Sony’s PlayStation found a very close competition. PlayStation and XBOX are now in their seventh generation era and they are battling it out for the lead. The XBOX 360 has gained the lead because of its early release last November 2005 but when Sony’s PlayStation 3 hits the gaming market on November 2006, it is likely to take the lead. So the question still stands: Which game console will win- PlayStation 3 or the XBOX 360?

Both the PlayStation 3 and the XBOX 360 belong to the seventh generation era of video game consoles—an era that began with its development phase in late 2004 although head to head battle between the consoles is yet to begin late in 2006. There are actually three main video game consoles that are battling it out in the competition, the third one being the Nintendo Revolution. But with the Nintendo Revolution’s features appearing to be less competent, people expect that the battlefield will be left to the PlayStation 3 and the XBOX 360 to contest.

So how do the PlayStation 3 and the XBOX 360 fare against each other? The XBOX 360 has already been released and all its features and specifications are already out for the public to enjoy. The PlayStation 3, however, is yet to be released, with the release date now set to November 2006. But while the two consoles are yet to meet on the actual gaming battlefield, the two are already entangled in a numbers and features game. Before the XBOX 360 was released, the companies behind the two consoles are already releasing figures and specifications that aim to outdo each other. The question, however, is which of the numbers really matter?

Let’s start with the processor. Upon release, the XBOX 360 came equipped with a 3.2 GHz Xenon processor – a PowerPC-based processor featuring the multicore processor technology. The said processor has three dual-core threads and capable of handling six threads at a time. The PlayStation 3, on the other hand, will be equipped with a 3.2 GHz Cell PowerPC-based processor comes its release date. The processor would feature eight Synergistic Processing Elements (SPEs), with one SPE serving as a redundant unit. With this specs, the PlayStation 3 would emerge a winner, if only processing power is concerned.

On the graphics arena, much were delighted with the PlayStation 3’s performance. Even without getting into the actual specifications, the graphic capabilities of the PlayStation 3 have clearly edged out that of the XBOX 360 in various demos. The XBOX 360 is equipped with a 500 MHz ATI Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) while the PlayStation 3 is equipped with an RSX 550 MHz NVIDIA GPU.

As to which console has a better style is subjective, so there should be no winner in this category. It is worth noticing, however, that the two consoles have opposite styles. The XBOX 360 has a concave shape while the PlayStation 3 is convex.

XBOX, however, leads the race for versatility, although at a very slim margin. The XBOX 360 supports more video systems as compared to the PlayStation 3. The Microsoft console also supports more media and electronic devices. In fact, the XBOX 360 inputs from rival electronic products like iPod and PSP. The XBOX 360 also boasts of its online capability, although Sony revealed just recently that the PlayStation 3 would also have a similar feature.

So will PlayStation 3 or the XBOX 360 win the battle for supremacy? Now is definitely not yet the time to conclude anything. Microsoft has already taken an early lead with the early release of the XBOX 360. Sony, on the other hand, has been given the luxury to further enhance its PlayStation 3 with the latest technologies to give it an edge over the XBOX 360. In the end, however, one can only decide which game console is better when the PlayStation 3 is finally released.

Is The XBOX 360 Right For You?

Admittedly the specs of the upcoming XBOX 360 are fabulous and enticing especially to those comparing the look of games on the older XBOX with current spec PC gaming platforms.

Aside from the raw specs of a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, an IBM CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz and a high definition capable graphics system from ATI, the XBOX 360 is also much smaller than its predecessor. Measuring only 3.3 x 12.2 x 10.2 and weighing in at 7.7 pounds, the XBOX 360 has a more living room friendly stature.

One of the most anticipated features is that of the ATI graphics capabilities for high definition output. For those with suitable displays the XBOX 360 will support 720p and 1080i and importantly, the games will take this into account also.

The DVD-ROM drive not only plays the game media but also allows the showing of non interlaced DVD movies. The new XBOX will save media and game information on separately sold detachable hard drives and flash memory units. The hard drive will also make the XBOX 360 backwardly compatible with some of the older XBOX library.

XBOX 360 uses a new button layout for its controllers. The black and white buttons of the first XBOX controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. The controllers are now wireless and the XBOX 360 can accept up to four of them or three via USB 2.0 ports.

Without networking the XBOX 360 would be a dead duck. An Ethernet port allows connectivity to the new XBOX Live Silver. The included service lets anyone create a Gamertag and gamer card to express your online identity, chat live with voice chat, and connect to the XBOX Live Marketplace to buy expansions, maps, and other digital goodies for your games.

Considering the specs and possibility of 20 launch titles including Perfect Dark Zero and Project Gotham Racing 3, it seems the XBOX 360 will be a must buy. Before you do however, take a look at the Playstation 3. Or just get both of them!

The Apple XBox 360 is generally considered to be the big cheese when it comes to home video game systems. And why shouldn’t it be? The XBox 360 is a popular video game player on the market, and Microsoft is continually updating, upgrading and offering more accessories and products for their device than any other manufacturer out there today.

However, even though the XBox 360 is the world’s most popular video game system, that doesn’t mean that you should simply run out to your nearest electronic goods retailer and pick up the first XBox 360 that you see. As with any vital purchase decision, research is the key to making an informed buying choice.

Even though the XBox 360 enjoys unparallel popularity, there are certain things that you should bear in mind before you ultimately purchase your XBox 360:

•IS THE XBox 360 RIGHT FOR ME

There’s the original XBox, the XBox 360, and the Xbox Online too. Each variation of the Xbox or Xbox 360 has different features and functions than the other. And while the new XBox 360 should be easy to locate in a wide range of stores, other versions might be difficult to locate if they are discontinued or sold out. You should definitely research exactly which XBox you want before you purchase it.

•DO I WANT ACCESSORIES

You can easily purchase a simple XBox 360 for your pleasure, but you’ll then have to consider where you will use your XBox 360 and how you’ll use it. Will you just keep it with you at home for playing? Will you take it with you to a friend’s house, or even work and school? For each use of the XBox 360, there are many accessories that you can purchase to store and protect your device. You will have to ask yourself if you are willing to spend the extra money for the wide range of XBox 360 accessories that Microsoft has to offer.

•HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH FOR ME

Are you a video game fanatic, playing everything your eyes can possibly take all the time? Or do you have a limited amount of games that you absolutely love? If you’re the former, then you will want to get an XBox 360 with the greatest memory capacity that you can afford. The larger the memory capacities, the more games you can download, store and play on your Xbox. But, if you are the latter, then you won’t need to spend so much on an XBox 360, as you will not require an exceptionally large memory capacity.

•ASK WHAT YOUR XBox 360 CAN DO FOR YOU

We all know that the XBox 360 is great for playing games and movies. However, XBox 360s can be much more than simple video game system. Your XBox 360 can connect you online to the world if you want. You can shop for Microsoft and Xbox 360 items right from your console if you want. If you want your XBox 360 to be everything you need, then you should expect to shell out extra money for it. However, if you just want your XBox 360 to play games and nothing else, then you won’t have to spend as much money.

No matter what kind of XBox 360 you get or how you plan on using it, you should do a bit of research before you make that purchase. It’s never a good thing when you buy something you don’t really need, or when you purchase something that does not meet your needs and expectations. However, when armed with knowledge, you will be certain to purchase the right XBox 360 for you.

The Xbox 360 Information Online

At one of the gaming industries events in Amsterdam, the industry felt that Microsoft would use the event to announce the Xbox 360 games lineup for its release in North America and Europe. The problem with that is it didn't happen. In its place is more confusion on what Xbox 360 games that will be available.

Peter Moore the corporate vice president of Xbox marketing and publishing bragged that there were 200 Xbox 360 games in development at the time. At the same time Chief Xbox officer Robbie Bach just promised they would have the best games and launch lineup of any console yet. But neither would list all the games that will go on sale in November of that year at the launch of the Xbox 360 in the United States.

Now to add to the confusion is a Microsoft press release titled "Xbox 360 launch line-up announced". It has only three first party games listed under a heading a heading of Titles that will form part of an impressive Christmas holiday portfolio. Project Gotham Racing 3, Perfect Dark Zero and Kameio Elements of Power. Then they have a second category of games called "Other great games" announced or shown at X05 that included FIFA 06, Saints Row, Too Human, Crackdown, just to name a few.

Xbox 360 playing Kameo

The finally the release listed a third category, "Franchise titles that will make their debut on Xbox 360" this included Superman Returns: The Videogame, Call of Duty 2, Tom Clancys Splinter Cell 4 and more. Now the fact that about half of these have 2006 release dates and some were just announced it would be impossible for the game to be contained in the Xbox 360 launch lineup as the title indicates.

A effort to clear up the confusion David Reid, director of platform marketing for the Xbox 360 was asked exactly what games would be available at the launch. He stated there would be 15-20 Xbox 360 titles available on launch day and another halfdozen by the end of the year. So more double speak? He would only confirm eight being available on November 22. They are Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Madden NFL 06, NBA Live 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, Need for Speed Most Wanted, and FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup.

As for the other seven to twelve Xbox 360 games that were to be available, Reid stated they would be announced in the next few weeks. According to him "They are currently in the final stages of certification" this is referring to the quality assurance process all third party games must go through from each console maker. With that said it would be likely if any of the submitted games that were not mentioned did not pass this process it will not be available at the time of Xbox 360 release on November 22 in North America.

The decision to rush games is a two headed sword. On one hand, release dates are made for a reason: to take advantage of a holiday sales season. On the other hand, thanks to word of mouth and game sites the gamer of today can tell if a game was rushed and a games reputation can be destroyed faster than it was built. In the Xbox 360's case there has been an extreme amount of pre release publicity and hype, which will make or break the success of the console and games themselves.

Three of the games that were verified to be available on release date are Microsoft titles and they would have an advantage. But none of the twelve titles are make or break titles for the Xbox 360 so the console should be spared, and hopefully PS3 will have the same launch questions.

As with any Microsoft release the Xbox 360 is shrouded in rumor, speculation, and expectation. Microsoft fuels this by being very closed mouth with any specific information. It looks like right now we can just sit and wait.

How to Repair xBox 360 Problems and The Red Ring of Death

Xbox 360 Launch Party White Carpet

SquareTrade, a web site responsible for managing warrantees for xBox 360, reported that the failure rate for xBox 360 game consoles are well over 16 percent. This is an alarming amount of failure for a game system, especially coming from Microsoft. The xBox 360 crashing and other problems are widely, known among gamers, but I didn't realize the problem was this rampant.

Among the biggest problem gamers face is overheating of xBox 360 game consoles causing flashing 3 red lights called "Red Ring of Death." I have experienced similar problem in the past and there's a simple solution to repair this xBox 360 problem by using the famous 3 towel trick.

Three towel trick is a temporary repair that may last for a few days or even several weeks, nobody really has any idea how long this temporary fix will last. However, if you are desperate to repair your xBox 360 from red ring of death problem, following procedure is how you fix your infamous xBox 360 "Red Ring of Death."

The reasoning behind the 3 towel trick is to get your xBox game console very hot thereby reconnecting the possible loose connection on the game board. And if all goes according to plan, after using the towel trick, hopefully the game console will function normally again.

Repair xBox 360 Red Ring of Death Problem with Towel Trick

First thing you should do is turn the main power to your system off and disconnect all network cables, leaving only the power supply. Then turn on the power back on and with 3 or 4 thick towels, wrap the game console loosely. Turn the power back on. If you can't locate the power button with wrapped towels, you can turn the power on before you wrap your towel. Let the game console heat up for about 25 to 30 minutes. After heating it up for 25 to 30 minutes, take away the towels from the game console. Be extra careful not to burn yourself, because the console will be extremely hot at this point. Let the game console cool down for about 15~20 minutes and reboot your xBox. Do not connect your network cables at this point.

After applying the towel trick, your xBox 360 still flashes "Red Ring of Death," you're out of luck. You need to have it fixed by a repair personnel. However, if you find that the flashing red lights are gone, then your xBox is good to go again. Reconnect all your network cables and play your favorite game. Your xBox may operate without any problems for few hours, few days or even weeks or months without a hitch until you run into same problem again.

Remember, the towel trick is a temporary fix for your xBox 360 problems and you should seek a long-term solution. The reason for the dreaded three "Red Rings of Death" is because of the overheating of the game console. You can apply some of the tips below to keep your xBox from overheating.

Keep the xBox 360 game console in an open space. Keeping the game console in a tight space prevents the vent on the side to get clogged, causing it to get hot. You might also try to keep the main power supply from overheating by keeping it off of the floor. Some gamers use a tiny fan on the game console and/or power supply to keep the xBox 360 from overheating.

There is a product called Niko Intercooler, which has a 3 built-in fans that attaches directly to your xBox game console. Having this useful add-on for your xBox will keep your game console relatively cool while playing the game. It is a handy add-on that every gamer should have to avoid the ring of death and overheating. Intercooler is available for about $15 to $20 at most of major retailers and Amazon.com

You can avoid many of your xBox 360 problems simply by using these common sense tips. However, if these tips do not fix your xBox problems, you'll need to send it out for a repair to Microsoft or other third party repair center. If you are under warranty, Microsoft if your best option, but the repair may take up to 4 to 6 weeks plus shipping time and cost. And if your warranty has expired, you should consider other repair center for quick service. Most third party repair centers charge anywhere from $140 to $200 depending on the severity of your problem.

Many smart gamers choose another option to repair their xBox 360, which is using a self repair guide. There are number of xBox 360 repair guides that are available online which can help you repair xBox 360 yourself. Just remember, if you try to fix it yourself and break the game box for good, you may not be entitled to warranty coverage. So, decide wisely if doing a self repair is a good option for you.

Xbox 360 Setup

As you probably already know, the supply of Xbox 360 ’s isn’t anywhere near the demand of the consumers. Xbox and 360 together

Xbox 360, amazing experience at your hands

Millions of fans of console video gaming all over the world welcomed Xbox 360 with one of the hottest hugs possible: amazing sale figures in just few hours after its initial release. But the real question remains, was Xbox 360 worth that entire buzz? Does the 360 live up to the high expectations of the addicted gamers all over the globe? Well, it appears that even if the Xbox 360 doesn’t score a bull’s-eye 10/10, it definitely was not far from achieving that.

Well, the first thing to learn about Xbox 360 is that it comes in 2 packages; the Xbox premium witch is priced at 400$ and the Xbox basic witch you can get for something close to 300$.

The basic package contains the completely new Xbox 360 console, a wired controller as well as the basic version of the Xbox Live service. Now, for about 100 extra bucks you will get many more things; this is something that will probably turn the majority of buyers towards the premium package.

Xbox 360

The premium bundle will provide you with the 360 console, a wireless controller, TV linking cables, a portable 20GB HDD and headphones. Additionally, this Xbox is fully backwards compatible with the games of the original Xbox; this means that you are able to play the games you already have from the original Xbox! Of course, you will also be given a basic subscription for the Xbox Live service too. Look closely at the differences of the 2 packages; was I wrong when I said that the majority of gamers would prefer to add 100 extra bucks and get the premium pack?

Straight for the meat now! The new Xbox is completely redesigned, with elegant, chic lines and light, beautiful coloring. The overall design is probably what would come out as a result of cooperation of Hummer’s & Porsche’s designers; I think Microsoft has done a great designing job. Regarding the core of the Xbox, its computational power, the graphics of the new games can speak for themselves. Amazing, curved surfaces, vivid backgrounds and detailed characters bring games as close to reality as possible. As a matter of fact, the 360 features an IBM PowerPC processor and a powerful graphics card by ATI.

The new Xbox 360 is also more family-friendly in the sense that it comes with a built in CD and DVD player. You can always listen to your favorite music while playing a game or you can watch a DVD along with friends or family in your HD TV screen.

I believe that Xbox 360 has too much potential; especially when the Xbox Live community will expand and there will be more blockbuster titles available. The brand new 360 definitely stands up to the expectations and the best has yet to come.

Power Up with Xbox 360 Power Supply

The Xbox 360 especially requires substantial power, more than twice that of the original Xbox and other consoles on the market. In order to cover the need for electricity, the Xbox 360 power supply is huge.

The Xbox 360 power supply is so large in fact that many gamers buy more than one AC adapters to leave at different houses just so they do not have to carry it around. However, with so much power in such a condensed space, it is no wonder that the Xbox 360 suffers from many heat problems.

Troubles with the Xbox 360

The Xbox 360, one of the newest game consoles available, has already had numerous complaints. It is frequently hounded with problems, from hardware failures to overheating.

A lot of these problems, however, can be pinpointed to the power supply. Simply put the Xbox 360 power supply alll the time, especially if hidden beneath shelves. The large current from the AC adapter, needs to breathe; it needs to have fresh air in order to cool down.

Many companies have sought to introduce an Xbox 360 power supply less prone to overheating. Similar to PCs with built-in fans, these supplies have proven even less reliable than the official Microsoft versions.

Microsoft claims they are developing a better, stronger, Xbox 360 power supply. Many gamers have taken things into their own hands, especially when their AC adapters burn out and they are need to buy new ones.

By modifying existing PC power units, they have constructed, supplies that appear to work better than the originals. While it is risky when modifying the Xbox 360, including the loss of the warranty, many players refuse to suffer through interrupted game play anymore due to the sad Xbox 360 power supply.

Xbox 360: A Revolution In Console Gaming

It wasn't so long ago that kids who got the "new" Nintendo 8-bit gaming console or the Sega system for Christmas were the envy of every less fortunate and burned out Atari owning neighborhood playmate. As time elapsed, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and NES's Turbo Graphix 16 became all the rave. Anyone now in their twenties can recall being impressed by the awesome advancements in playability and graphic display of the Nintendo 64 and Sega's Dreamcast system, and even more recently (only five or so years ago) the advent of Microsoft's Xbox, Nintendo's Game Cube, and the Play Station by Sony. The Video Gaming industry has made great strides in the past twenty years: from slow-moving, barely recognizable forms on screen in original Atari games such as Pac-Man, Calga, and Tron, to the extremely vivid and life-like graphics of Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, and Tekken; available for the Xbox and Play Station. Now, just in time for Christmas 2005, Microsoft has made the next move in the continuing race for Video Gaming Supremacy with the introduction of the Xbox 360. The result is truly phenomenal.

The Xbox 360, as with all video game consoles, is basically just a computer with hardware and software dedicated to the function of running video games. The original Xbox was pretty much just a Microsoft PC with a modified Pentium III processor, some powerful graphics and audio capabilities, and a modified version of the Windows 2000 operating system, all packaged in that distinctive black box.

This year Microsoft has released two versions of the Xbox 360: the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Core System. The Xbox 360Core System is "plug and play", that is, that in addition to the console, it includes an integrated controller and an AV cable. The Xbox 360 (not the "Core system") comes with a wireless controller, an HD AV cable, an Ethernet connectivity cable, a headset, a media remote, and a removable 20-GB hard drive.

For anyone who thought the original Xbox was a technological marvel, you must try this out! As amazing and realistic as the play on the first Xbox was, the Xbox 360 makes its predecessor look tired and worn-out. Microsoft has rebuilt the Xbox from the ground up. From the name to the look, from hardware to features, the Xbox 360 is a radically different and more powerful machine than the original Xbox. Far more than a video game console, the Xbox 360 is a total media center that allows users to play games, network with other 360 owners; rip, stream and download all types of media, including high-definition movies, music, digital pictures and game content, as well as play DVD movies and audio CD's.

The Xbox 360 will revolutionize the gaming world. Microsoft has definitely set the new standard in video game technology.

Xbox 360 Red ring of death

On November 22, 2005, Microsoft released the long awaited XBox 360, the next generation of its popular XBox gaming console. The XBox 360, however, goes farther than any game system that users are currently accustomed to. The XBox 360 is more like a fully functional, broadband connected entertainment gadget that appeals to gamers but is equipped to entertain the whole family.

Although smaller than the original XBox (The 360 weighs in at a mere 7.7 lbs), this version packs so many nifty features in a small package. If you also happen to own a HDTV, you will truly be able to appreciate the advanced graphics features and support for windscreen (16:9) format. Of course, the console will work on regular television as well, but the depth of the graphics will be particularly stunning on more advanced televisions. The XBOx 360 carries a ATI graphics processor and 10MB of embedded DRAM. This setup allows the XBox 360 to draw up to 500 million triangles per second for the ultimate in realistic graphics.

The XBox 360 unit also has a 12x dual layer DVD Rom drive that serves the dual purpose of playing XBox games as well as ordinary DVDs. There is also additional support for surround sound audio for the ultimate home theater experience and realistic gaming.

For game save and other media storage, you can optionally purchase a 20GB external harddrive which also serves to make the XBox 360 backwards compatible with original XBox games.

The XBox 360 goes well beyond the range of gaming and video with its built-in Ethernet port that allows users to connect via their broadband connection to XBox live (available in various flavors). XBox live will allow you to play live over the Internet, use voice and even video chat and, of course, purchase additional goodies for your XBOx. In addition to ethernet connectivity, you can optionally purchase wireless adapters that comply with the standard wireless 802.11 protocol for integration into your existing wireless network. For other data transfer tasks, such as uploading of your digital photos, digital home movies, and music, you can use the integrated USB 2.0 port. With all of these features, it is a piece of cake to stream all of your digital files.

As you can see, the XBox 360 offers a little something for everyone. Kids can enjoy the futuristic gaming capabilities (check game ratings for age appropriateness), and Mom and Dad can enjoy the file sharing, music and video streaming, and home theater features.

The Microsoft Xbox 360 Console: Powerful Gaming In A Box

Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3 Controllers

Gone are the days of drab, underpowered gaming consoles with limited features. The Microsoft Xbox 360 is here! It doesn't matter if you are a serious gamer or a mere hobbyist, the Xbox 360 that Microsoft launched in November 2005 is suitable for all players. It claims to have taken into consideration all the facets of ultimate gaming experience with this much-improved version of the original Microsoft Xbox that came out in November 2001.

Check your budget. Depending on what you can afford, you may start with the very basic core system composed of the light console, the wired controller and the composite AV cable; and when your budget allows you to purchase other peripherals one by one for the enhancement of your total gaming experience, maybe you'd want to change your wired controller with the wireless model, or maybe you'd want to add in the Xbox Live headset for amplification of sound effects to a mind-boggling level far above what your normal TV speakers could provide.

On the other hand, if you are one of those to whom "money is no object," you may just go ahead and buy the entire Microsoft Xbox 360 system, where everything is all in (i.e., the console with premium chrome finish, a wireless controller, the Xbox Live headset, component hard drive-AV cable, the Ethernet cable that allows you to connect with the other players, and the hard drive that contains an array of original Xbox games and allows you to download even more games. Since the Xbox 360 allows up to four wireless controllers operating on one console, it lets you play with three other players simultaneously for that added fun and challenge in live competition.

The Microsoft Xbox 360 gives you total digital entertainment. You may amplify and enhance your music and movies to a soothingly soft or to a ripping loud volume. Connect to the Internet and instantly stream your music, digital home movies, photographs and graphics or any other files stored in your hard disk, memory and other digital media that are Microsoft Windows XP-based PC that you want to share with others.

When you are connected to the Internet via the Ethernet card, you have the Xbox Live headset, a facility that allows you to voice-chat with other players, thus combining active gaming with socialization.

There are games that are rated "must-have" because they are simply sensational with the Microsoft Xbox 360. These include "Dead or Alive 4," "Call of Duty 2" for the best WWII shooter, "King Kong" for great effects and "Need for Speed Most Wanted" for racing fans. For some odd reasons, some games that run with excellent audio and video effects using the first version of Xbox don't run as well in the Xbox 360; these include "Madden NFL 06," "NBA Live 06." This must be given immediate attention by the Microsoft people because it is a source of great disappointment for hardcore gamers and, in some cases, could be a deal-breaker.

Pressure is on for movie makers and game programmers/manufacturers to properly and visibly indicate the appropriate rating of their products on the packaging to provide guidance for buyers.

ESRB is the regulating body that takes care of rating the propriety or impropriety of a game or movie based on age. ESRB's restrictions on games are EC (early childhood) for children below 6 years old, containing no inappropriate materials at all; E (everyone) for children younger than 13, and these have minimal violence and comic mischief but are substantial for character building. Some Xbox 360 games with an E rating include Ridge Racer 6 and NBA 2K6.

My son wants to buy some Wii Points online on the virtual console. The only way I can do this is by entering my credit card info online. However, I'm not sure about buying anything online with a credit card on the Wii system. Is it the same risk as personal computer or riskier. If you know a website with consumer reports please post them.
