Jason N asked:

Originally, the term "gamer" referred to someone devoting a lot of time to role-playing games. However, in recent years the term has come to include video game players.

How many hours per day must a person play video games to be considered a "gamer"?

Also, how many days per week must be devoted to video game playing?

i dont think its something that you can give a time for….i would say its anyone who consistantly plays games on a regular basis……

Anyone who plays games more than 5 hours a week is a gamer. If you play games too much though your wife might get mad…

I would say a “gamer” is just someone who plays games when they have some free time when they can.

On the other hand a “hardcore gamer” plays all the time, buys all the new games, and plays as often as they can regardless of if it’s the most productive thing they could be doing with their time.

i think even if you played an online game for 10 mins if you like it (what you played and are looking to play again) then you can consider yourself a gamer

I’d think of it more in terms of how much of one’s free time is spent on games then an absolute amount of time. Someone who has a demanding job and a couple of kids may not have much time to devote to games (or any other hobby for that matter), but if he’s spending every minute of his free time levelling up his Troll Shaman or DM-ing some group, to me he’s a gamer.

its how many hours you devote yourself to playing a game. and not just one game many different types of game. basically your whole life becomes a game thats when you know your a gamer =) trust me i know

There are casual gamers. They play on lunch breaks for example and they usually play simple games. Then there are regular gamers who play games often, they are dedicated and won’t stop till they beat the game. And as always, the extreme gamers have the costumes, and no social life…..that would be me. I don’t think there are any specific requirements to be a gamer………..If you are interested in a particular game and always want to know the newest info about it, then u are probably a gamer.
