Which is the better video game platform: Console or PC?
The concept of one platform being "better" than another is inherently subjective and depends on each individual's point of view. If your idea of a great gaming experience is sitting by yourself in front of a monitor with either a first person shooter (FPS), massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG), or a real time strategy (RTS) game then obviously the PC is going to be a better platform. The other side of the shiny gold coin being the console where the appeal will be to those who enjoy a platform (Mario style) game, fighting, racing, and playing multiplayer usually with people right next to them. Convergence is a big buzz word in the game industry right now and in a lot of ways the PC and game console are melding into each other. FPSs and online play are much more common on consoles and PCs can fairly easily be connected to a TV and used with a wireless keyboard and mouse or a gamepad. Having said that, what advantage does one platform have over the other? The advantages really come down to preference however, as some can't hardly play a game with a keyboard and others can't hardly play a game without it, just as some prefer the isolation of playing by themselves or over the Internet as opposed to a room full of people playing together.

Of course all of the true gamers out there have a PC as well as multiple consoles and will enjoy games from each platform and while I fall into that category I'm also on the side of the console. I am currently building a new PC this fall and will hopefully by November or December have a nice new quad core gaming rig, so I am still by all means a PC gamer. Honestly, if it were not for Nintendo I would be fully on the side of the PC, but the Wii has in fact disrupted the game industry and in a very good way. Nintendo has come across cultural phenomenon with the Wii and made playing games more intuitive and more fun than ever. Before the Wii, I was about the only person in my extended family that would play video games, but now whenever family or friends come over then want to play Wii. Wii Sports is still the game of choice perhaps because of how simple it is to learn and get everyone involved, but games like Rayman, Wii Play, and Mario Strikers all have made for some of the best times in front of an LCD (monitor or TV).
The PC has a firm place in my house as a game system and will always be fun for certain games and as it spreads to the living room PC gaming will appeal to a wider audience. It it limited ironically enough by the amount of freedoms it bestows on the user however, because of it's open ended architecture and constant push to upgrade hardware and software. It alienates many potential gamers whose only gaming on the PC will be solitaire and minesweeper because they don't want to deal with frustrating incompatibilities, patching software, and troubleshooting bugs and glitches. I don't mind dealing with the headaches involved with PC gaming because I enjoy the reward of hi resolution, and more in depth experiences, but I will always play my game consoles and especially the Wii more often because of the social aspect and the bottom line being that they are more fun.
Abdelrahim Mansour asked:
As you probably already know, the supply of Xbox 360 's isn't anywhere near the demand of the consumers. This can be blamed on the manufacturing complexity of the Xbox 360 machine, the multiple launches in different regions, and the momentum present from the original Xbox as well as the Holiday shopping season.
In Europe and North America, there are supply shortages. For now, Japan can be left out of that analysis because there isn't any shortage there at the present moment. Microsoft is going to be in the game industry forever. The hype that has been generated by all of the supply shortages now could result in the mainstream associated the Xbox with videogames. One very important thing is mindshare.
There were several people that had never even heard of the Xbox gaming system before now have been introduced. In fact, Xbox 360 is completely all over the place: news media, advertisements, television shows, PVC forum. Everyone everywhere wants one. In the event that you want one but you can't really located one, you may get a little frustrated. You will be really shock at the amount of people that will punch some holes in the wall and break bottles because they can't purchase the hottest item of the year.
The bottom line is if you, yourself are a gamer or if you have a very close relationship with a gamer, or if you have a child that is a gamer or may want to be a gamer one day, or if you ever take the time to watch television, you have at least heard of the new gaming console known as the Xbox 360. Word travels fast and by now, you have probably heard more about the Xbox 360 than you could ever imagine. The Xbox 360 has had a lot more advertising than the Playstation 3.
By several people, the Xbox 360 is considered to be the absolute greatest gaming console on the retail market today. However, there are others that are still totally in love with their playstations and they will always remain faithful to them. In the event that you are thinking about purchasing the Xbox 360, or even if it is just a very casual though, or in a situation where you would just prefer to sound a little more informed next time that you and all of your gaming friends are together, you may want to take the time to look at the Xbox 360 pros and cons.
The Xbox 360 gaming console pros and cons aren't there to tell you that you shouldn't or should purchase the Xbox 360; they are there just to let you know all of the reasons that you should purchase the Xbox 360 and all of the reasons that you shouldn't purchase the Xbox 360. It is totally up to you on what decision you make on purchasing the Xbox 360. However, make sure that you take into consideration that the Xbox 360 has some extraordinary graphics but the question of whether or not they are better than the PS3 is completely debatable. However, most people wills till agree that the Xbox 360 has much better graphics that the Nintendo Wii.
