Game reviews: Wii Sports – Part 1

Wii Sports was released in 2006 as a free game included when you brought a Nintendo Wii. It was intended as an easy to play game that anyone could pick up and play either on their own or with others. It is quite possibly the most easily recognisable Wii game around at the moment, with a large amount of new and old gamers having access to it.

The game allows you to use Miis, which have been created on the Wii console's Mii Channel, to play with as avatars, which gives the game a more personalised feel. There are five games on offer to play, each one is a simulation of a popular sport that everyone should recognise and know how to play even without instructions.

The five games are Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf and Boxing. Each game uses a combination of the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck, or just the Wii Remote of its own. The games are played in a similar way to real life, for example to play tennis the player will swing the Wii Remote like a tennis racket to hit the ball, the sensor bar will pick up the movement and relay the action on screen.

Each game can be played with multiple players; some can be played with only one Wii Remote between all the players, while others need at least two Wii Remotes to play successfully. Bowling and Golf are the only two which can be played as a four player game with only one Wii Remote, so long as the Wii Remote is passed around during play. The other three require the use of two controllers.

Each time the player completes a game they are rewarded with a certain number of points based on performance. These points raise the player's level and raise the difficulty of a game based on how well the player is doing. This is done gently with a smooth learning curve which increases difficulty gradually rather than abruptly.

There are special Training and Fitness modes available which allow the player to practise their skills and find out how fit they are by completing certain tests. The Training mode allows the player to practise playing the games and it focuses on improving player's accuracy and skill within each game by giving them different challenges to complete. The Fitness mode assesses how fit the player is by choosing three tests for the player to complete and then assessing the player's fitness level based on the results of the test. The Fitness test can only be taken once a day for each Mii.

Console reviews: The Nintendo Wii – Part 8

I am one of those people who cannot really call themselves a "gamer" in a lot of ways. Sitting around with a headset on talking to complete strangers for hours playing Halo 2 (and possibly yelling about chocolate milk) has never struck me as a fun idea. The thought of paying $600 to get a game system that has incredible graphics is not even logical to me.

I did everything that I could to get a Nintendo Wii on launch day, and I did. I thought a lot about getting an XBox 360, and then I thought about the fact that Nintendo just brought out the DS, a strange touchscreen and dualscreen portable system that a lot of people were really unsure about. But the DS is very popular because the touch screen is a smart concept, and because it allowed Nintendo to bring a few non-gamers into the mix. Games like "Brain Age" and the other Touch Generation games appeal to lots of people, and can be played on a console that their children may already have or want.

With a new controller lovingly nicknamed the "wiimote" by most Wii owners, the new Nintendo console accomplishes the same thing. Upon taking your new Wii out of the box, you are confronted with perhaps the best example of the way Wii brings gamers and non-gamers into the same arena: "Wii Sports". Anyone could play this game. And most people I've seen playing it have a great time doing so. The Wiimote has the capability of taking natural motions and incorporating them into the game you're already playing.

A good example of this is the much awaited title: "Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess". Each and every one of the traditional, FPS loving gamers I've ever talked to about the Wii have all talked about the Wiimote making you look like an idiot, flailing around and moving the controller in spastic fits. I can play Twilight Princess sitting in bed and be completely comfortable. The nature of the movements will completely depend on the individual player. Not only is the game itself everything I had hoped it would be, the control scheme becomes second nature within minutes.

With quirky party games like "Raving Rabbids" and crowd pleasers like "Excite Truck", there are already several titles for the Wii that I enjoy enough to keep a part of my game library.

If you get bored with the titles available for the Wii, or if you just want to get back to your roots, the Wii Store releases more virtual console games every week from your past, whether its the N64 or the TurboGrafix-16.

Other features on the Wii include a weather forecast channel and a (soon to be functional) news channel. There is also a channel in which you can make avatars and send them to your friends' consoles. Recently, the trial version of the internet channel was released, and although it's not the easiest way to surf the web, updates are said to be coming.

The Wii console never claimed to be the winner of the console wars, but it's both satisfying to experienced gamers hungry for new Nintendo titles and interesting to people you never even imagined would pick up a controller. It at least deserves to be your second console, FPS fans. You play games to have fun, and the Wii is a blast.

Video game reviews: The Sims (PC)

Over the years certain video games have come and gone, but one of the games that most "old school" gamers like me remember is Sim City. The game was simple: given a large land mass, you have to zone out space for people to live, work, and shop. You have to give them roads to get back and forth to work and power to make their cities work. Along with other niceties like fire and police protection and optional equipment like airports and in no time you would have millions of faceless "Sims" living in your city going about their little "Sim-Lives".

But, a question folks might often ask as they were facing an attack from a horrible city-destroying monster (that the player unleashed for fun!) was "I wonder what really goes on in the lives of these "Sims"?

OMG STFU: Kick-Ass The Game! [Bytejacker - Ep. 33]

Well, thanks to the creative genius behind Sim City, Will Wright, you got to experience it first-hand through The Sims.

For sake of brevity I'm going to limit this review to strictly the original game (as opposed to reviewing the original, all seven expansions, the online game, the console games, and the sequel, The Sims 2 - and it's expansions).

The Sims allows you to create anywhere from one to eight Sims to move onto either a barren lot or into a pre-built house. Then you take the money that these Sims have and furnish the place with whatever they can afford. Usually, they can't afford much at first so they'll be using some of the cheapest furniture and accessories they can find.

Each Sim has a few "needs" that have to be met to get them through their day (just like real people). If they're hungry they'll need food. If they're lonely they need social contact. If they're dirty they should bathe. If their bladder is full they need to go to the bathroom - FAST. Needless to say it's always embarrassing when a Sim doesn't quite make it - although, it's fun to watch! And, of course they need to sleep. If they're dead tired and don't quite make it to bed they'll fall asleep anywhere - but, they won't like it.

Once you have their needs under control your Sims are going to need money to upgrade all of their stuff. For this, they need to get a job. There are quite a few jobs for them to get. Some are more challenging, but can earn lots of money in the long run. If the Sim does well at the job they can get a promotion. However, getting that next promotion will take a little help. For this we move onto skills.

Skills represent what the Sim can do. In order to increase their skills you have to buy certain

Video games: The pros and cons of innovation – Part 1

As video games have progressed so has the taste of the American mind. Everyone seems to love the Nintendo Wii, and I can truly respect the new features it supports. As time goes on everything gets bigger and better. The Wii is no different. The Wiimote as everyone calls it, is an innovation of greatness. Every single day people go on and on about the PS3 and how great it's going to be, well when is it going to get to the peak of "great". The Wii already is doing phenomenal in the market.

Nintendo is showing that they have not become that of Sega. They are here to stay, and they hope to stay for many years to come. The Wii brings a great innovative groove to the gamer, you feel as though your there and it actually gives you a little bit of a workout. If Nintendo gets more solid titles for the Wii, I can see it being on top like like Nintendo was way back when.

We all need to realise that gaming has changed and new innovative things are being done to re-create the gaming industry. Nintendo's Wiimote is changing the way we play. Sony is changing itself for the worse and Microsoft is doing one up on Sony. At the rate the Wii goes I don't see much of anything that will slow it down.

But of course there are the cons of innovation. How many games can the Wii support with it's wiimote? Could it truly last long enough and keep people excited? People might find the Wiimote as if it were just to much. People might drop gaming if they can't play their favorite games. Some people may never be able to pick up the new style of game play. We may be seeing a fall of gamers and a rise of new technology.

The Xbox 360 has progressed majorly since it's release in 2005. The Xbox 360 not only has created some fun entertaining features but their games have improved since that of the Xbox. The new controller is also one of the best controllers ever produced for man. The controller is so accessible that you can easily play a game without having to search for what button you have to push like with the Gamecube and Xbox controllers. The online has also improved. The new feature of the Arcade also give the gamer a choice to go back and feel as if they are young again. Microsoft has improved majorly in the gaming market, and at the rate they are going their bound to become the more powerful company in the gaming world.

But of course the Xbox 360 has it's flaws. From what I could tell is that it is somewhat bulky and when moving it makes a loud noise. Also the system

Supply Has Not Met Demand For Nintendo Wii

Anyone who takes a great interest in video games can tell you exactly where they were on November 19, 2006. If they are a really serious gamer then most likely they were camped out overnight in front of the Toys R Us store located in Times Square, New York in an effort to be the first one through the doors when they opened early in the morning. That was the day when Nintendo Wii was launched and the race to get one officially began. It was a grand event that was highlighted by such things as a roving Segway scooter that held a custom made Wii console. People could play Wii games wirelessly while waiting in the line that stretched around the building.

Since that day the demand for Wii consoles has been much greater than the supply. In fact, if you wanted to purchase a console right now chances are your favorite department store, electronics outlet or Internet mall may be sold out of this product.

The publicity leading up to the release of Nintendo Wii was unanimously positive. This console is the fifth one released by Nintendo, and it is the successor to the highly popular GameCube console. Serious gamers had followed the story from the beginning when Nintendo Wii was first unveiled at the 2005 E3 event. It won the first of many awards at that show as they hit the ground running. From that day forward the massive amount of people who play video games worldwide could hardly wait to get their hands on one of these revolutionary consoles.

Nintendo Wii has outsold Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PSP since its release a few months ago. The demand for this product is now through the roof. People of all ages are playing games on these units and the interest is growing larger every day.

Wii is number one in sales of video game consoles partly due to its price, 250 dollars which is about 2 to 4 hundred dollars less than its competitors. The main reason people are going bananas over this console though is due to its exiting new features like WiiConnect24 which enables the console to receive messages and updates over the Internet while in standby mode. But most of all it is all about the remote control.

The thing that sets Nintendo Wii apart from other game consoles like Playstation 3, PSP or Xbox 360 is its wireless remote control, known as the Wii remote. It is a revolutionary device that offers interactivity on a whole new level. This remote has a motion sensor that allows the user to get up off their seat and kick, swing, jump and dance their way through Wii games. No more hours of endless sitting. Gamers can now actually feel like they are physically in the game while they are playing their video games.

As the frenzy to buy Nintendo Wii consoles has increased steadily online malls and retail stores have struggled to keep their shelves stocked with this hot new product. Many people have accused Nintendo of purposely holding back on the amount of Wii consoles for sale to create a high demand for the product. These critics go further to say that the plan of Nintendo all along was to release plenty of these consoles in the fourth quarter of the business year to a public that cannot wait to get their hands on one of them because the product is so good, yet relatively scarce.

This week Nintendo announced that they would be ramping up production of Wii consoles. This means that there should be plenty of them available for sale during the fourth quarter of this business year. On the surface it would appear that the conspiracy theory crowd was right about Nintendo withholding production to create an artificial demand. However, there is no way to be certain if this is true unless you have a secret recording of the top Nintendo executives sitting in a board meeting as they plotted their diabolical plan.

The big question here is whether or not the drought will soon be over for video game enthusiasts who are thirsty for a drink of the new Nintendo Wii console. While no amount was given by Nintendo regarding how many more consoles they will produce, most people believe that the general PR message the company is sending out to the public is that you will not have a problem finding Nintendo Wii for sale at your favorite retail or online store from now on.

you are still purchasing your Nintendo Wii Games from your localized games store, hold on! Nowadays there is a lot more comfortable method to capture all your Wii stuff. Downloading wii games online has become very popular for other gameconsoloses like the XBOX 360 and the Playstion but today you are able to download your Wii Games from the internet.

Imagine just paying up a little one-time fee, to a lesser extent than the cost of one Wii game, and giving you entree to a large database of all the newest wii games for lifetime.

Download Wii Games For Free And Stop Paying To Try Out New Games Since its introduction in late 2006, the Wii has been the number one home gaming system. It has become easy to download Wii games to your computer and then place them on a DVD or portable drive so that you can play these games on your Wii system.

Wouldnt it be great to stop paying around $40 per game? While you could try to find free Wii downloads, youll waste a lot of time with corrupt files, dead links and you may even get a computer virus in the process. Instead of dealing with all of these hassles, go for one of the subscription based services.

Whats The Best Place For Downloading Wii Games? Theres a lot of different websites which claim to offer Wii game downloads; some of them can save you untold amounts of money, while others are definitely not worth the trouble.

What do the download services charge? To be precise, direct for free, Nintendo Wii game download isn\'t average. How come Nintendo allow them? Given its huge fame, the games are the core cash cows at this time for them. In fact, they give full sophisticated property protection on their Wii games. And so is there nowadays still a technique on How to Download Free Wii Games online? And how! No problem at all.

Which download packages are there? There are different boxes of paid membership to suit various needs and preference. Per-download or limited-time alternatives bring in more economical common sense for the infrequent gamers but they\'re fewer and far between. Wii-rockers are predominantly fanatic about their favored gizmo and can not have plenty of it. Downloading Wii Games Lifetime Unlimited membership is therefore the no-brainer selection and is far and away the most favourite option.

Free unlimited lifetime downloading Wii games Free limitless lifetime download for a one-time joining fee seems to be the most pop type of package. The fee is normally just about the common cost of a single physical Wii game disk. There\'s actually no equivalence in price as they are in effect continual free Wii games for members and being downloaded online, they\'re also in theory never unavailable.

In reality, How to Download Wii Games is the simple part. The magic trick is in choosing the decent supplier. The Wii marketplace is hot so scams and fly-by-nights\' are hanging around all over. Do not decide for any price without complete money-back guaranty and twenty-four/seven support and one way to be isolated from identity stealing is to buy only in secure e-commerce markets like Clickbank.

Where To Buy Cheap Wii Consoles?

Hunter Crowell asked:

Ever spent your hard earned cash on a game that just didn't perform and entertain you as much as it should? Did you get caught up in the hype of a popular new release, and it just failed to deliver the quality you were looking for.

With the introduction of new gaming consoles like Xbox 360, PS3, and Nintendo Wii, video game rental industry has really reached new heights. People can now rent favorite games from the comfort of their homes. Gone are the days when we had to spend a lot of time to find the game of our choice from store to store. We can now sit at our homes, look at the details of the games. If the game meets our interest, we can order it online and get it delivered at our doorstep. The fame of these new consoles has formed a new trend in video game rentals across our nation.

It is really not possible for all of us to purchase every game that is released. We can enjoy the game at a fraction of the real price. When we get bored with the game we can return it back. The best part is we do not have to pay any late fee and keep it as long as we want.

There are some titles that you end up finishing within a few hours to a few days worth of play and never receive any true sense of enjoyment or accomplishment from the game. For this reason alone, video game rental is becoming an increasingly popular way for gamers to test out their most sought after game before shelling out hundreds of dollars on a game that doesn't make it past its first few hours.

Being a gamer can be expensive at times if you are paying full price for multiple games a month. Some games cost more than $50 and if it is a highly anticipated release, some will pay inflated amounts of money just to be part of the first to play this specific title. The biggest disappointment is when the game is a complete flop. You can always resell it for a few dollars, but you never recoup the loss of the first purchase.

It is very pocket friendly. If you go to a store to purchase a game, you can easily spend $50 or more. You will pay $50 for a game which you are not sure will satisfy your gaming needs. However, you can rent the same game online for very less.

Nikki Davila asked:

Video games go way back and are still one of the sought-after modes of entertainment for both kids and adults alike. You will realize that just about everyone loves to play some kind of video game. Gaming has turned into a technological wildfire these days, and the Xbox 360 game system is arguably one of the best systems available.

Video games started out humbly with enormous arcade pinball machines, then to joystick-based systems. Today, these games still in fact exist everywhere, just that they are now seen as nothing out of the ordinary. Other gaming systems have taken over and added more practicality and sophistication to the gaming experience.

You probably hear about the Xbox 360 all the time, so is it time to get one? The Xbox 360 is known to be one of the leading gaming systems available today. Video games created for the Xbox 360 are extremely interactive, with gamers treading on a fine line between reality and the digital world. These games allow gamers to feel as though they really are inside the game. Created by Microsoft, the Xbox 360 was first launched in the US in the year 2005. Since that time, it has always been the leading system in the market mainly because of its best-quality added features and parts that aid in the enhancement of overall entertainment for the gamer.

The Xbox 360 stays on top of the competition by providing gamers with the Xbox Live component, which enables players to buy a monthly subscription to the Xbox 360 Internet experience. Players from Europe and Asia can compete against each other in a virtual world for heightened, interactive entertainment. Players can also chat with each other from across the globe through the chat capability. Xbox Live provides players with the option to obtain and store data in their Xbox 360s as well and, if you have a subscription, you can obtain things like free game trials, movies, TV shows and music.

The Xbox 360 can be purchased in 3 varying sizes, which are the arcade console, the premium console and the Elite console. Each of those has a varied quantity of memory and added features that come with the system. If you are not as picky when it comes to playing graphic-filled games or obtaining files from the Internet, then the arcade may be your best bet. If you want to benefit from interactive functions to the max, get the Elite console. The Xbox 360 also provides several add-on features made to boost gaming experience. Imagine this: wireless controllers and webcams!

Now, if you really want to indulge yourself with playing video games, the Xbox 360 game system will be your best choice. Once you get to it, you will never feel like quitting the game!
