Microsoft’s Xbox 360 vs. The Sony’s Playstation 3
Microsoft has tried to catch up with some of the titans of the gaming world, such as Sony with the release of the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 offers many new features that players will love:
Free limited subscription to online gaming - This allows players who have not been participating in online gaming a chance to see what is available at no charge. All Xbox 360s come with Live-aware - This means you can get a friend invite or see who is online and what they are playing from your Xbox 360. The button in the middle of the controller makes all this very easy.
It offers great media features including listening to music while you play games, the ability to create custom playlists and your own custom soundtracks, the ability to rip songs from original CDs to your Xbox 360 and stream music from your MP3 player to your Xbox 360. You can also create slideshows of photos to share with friends and family. Xbox 360 has a wireless controller. No more tripping over the wires, although it can support two wired controllers through USB ports in the front. The game console is not only great for gamers, but developers as well. It is a powerful machine with an unprecedented amount of RAM - a feature added on the request of developers.
But, Xbox 360 still has some problems that need to be worked out:
Their Japanese third party support is lacking - While some Japanese developers offer software for the Xbox, it is small in number when compared to what the same developers offer for Playstation. While the controller is wireless, it eats batteries rather quickly. Standard alkaline batteries only last about thirty hours, so if you buy Xbox 360, invest in rechargeable batteries to save yourself some money in the end. When they were set up in WalMart stores before days before the launch, many suffered what is known as the Xbox "360 screen of death," an error screen. The Xbox 360 had also had some problems with overheating. Some report the Xbox 360 system as being very noisy when playing an Xbox 360 disc.
Many people are eagerly awaiting the release of Playstation 3, which may occur as soon as November of this year. It has been said that the Playstation 3 has an outward feel (which allows it to stand vertically or horizontally on its own), as opposed to the Xbox 360's inward feel. It is a much larger console than the Playstation 2 and closer to the original size of the Xbox. Game discs slide into the console like CDs slide into a car player.
Here are a few attractive features of the Playstation 3:
It is always on, so you can access your Playstation 3 from anywhere as long as you have an Internet connection. With a Playstation Portable, you can connect to your Playstation 3 and transfer media such as music and movies. The Playstation 3 appears to be much more powerful than that Xbox 360, Ninetindo Revolution, and Playstation 2. Initial reports say it will be twice as fast as the Xbox 360. Developers and publishers of over 230 games have announced titles for Playstation 3 games.
Here are a few reported cons and problems with the Playstation 360:
Comes with only 256 MB, less than the 512 MB the Xbox 360 will come with. Their Playstation Network Platform (the online service) is still in development and may not be ready by the time Playstation 3 is released.
The launch of the Playstation 3 has already been delayed due to disk problems.
Both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are incredible gaming consoles. It seems that although the Xbox 360 came out first, the best bet is still the Playstation 3. The strongest point of the Xbox 360 is its online functionality, but Sony may be working on something similar to Xbox Live right now. However, Microsoft is closing the gap with Xbox 360 and probably will eventually catch up with Sony in gaming consoles. For some users, it may come down to something as simple as which one is more compatible with the games they already own.

How to Wii
Who hasn’t heard of the Wii? The game console that people are just waiting to get their hands on. The Wii is being used in all phases of society from family homes, sporting centers, and even senior homes. The way the Wii is played encourages physical activity that appeals to all generations. Generations are coming together over the versatility and playability of the Wii system. Just about everyone, no matter what their age, is able to find a Wii activity to enjoy.
Nintendo truly deserves to be congratulated for their creation of the Wii. Game consoles have been around for years serving as a means of entertainment for families. Throughout the years, the game systems get bigger and better with visual effects that seem real to life. However, until the Wii most video game consoles were used in primarily the same way, with a joystick in your hands. You sat in your comfortable chair and used your controller to play the games you enjoyed. This inactivity was definitely a contributing factor to weight gain. The Wii brought about a shift to this style of gaming and developed a solution to the normal inactivity associated with gaming. With interactive games, the Wii has come up with an answer to the sedentary days of video game playing.

So how does the Wii do this? The Wii gaming system has come up with a specialized controller that lets you act out the actions in a game. Image you are at a bowling alley enjoying a game of bowling. With the Wii, you can do the same thing in your own home. Bowling on the Wii requires that you move your legs and arms in the same fashion that you would if you were actually bowling. Once you go through your approach and release motions, you watch as the ball rolls down the alley on your television screen and hits the pins at the end of the lane, unless of course you’ve thrown a gutter ball. The interactive play of the Wii encourages you to keep fit and it adds an element of fun and excitement to the gaming world that was missing.
Does this mean that all Wii games require physical activity? No, the Wii system does have several games that are just like most other gaming consoles that require you to sit in your favorite place and play without much body movement at all, as you just have to work the controller. The games that Wii has designed with activity and fitness in mind include games such as Wii Fit, golf, tennis, and bowling. This gaming flexibility also adds to the appeal of the Wii system for many people and generations because there are activity options for every gaming interest level.
The Wii is a great alternative for those that enjoy gaming, but also want to be more health conscious. Studies have shown that playing a game of tennis on the Wii console can burn 100 calories in a 30 minute period. You can be sure that you won’t be burning that many calories just sitting on your couch with a controller in your hand.
When thinking about the obesity problem plaguing our nation, the Wii is a gaming option that helps to encourage physical activity. Children that enjoy staying indoors and playing games can now do so while getting some exercise. An intense 30-45 minute game of interactive Wii play can be comparable to the 30 minutes of exercise recommended by experts to impact your fitness. The Wii system is a great alternative to the other sedentary based systems. What could be better than being able to participate in something you like while at the same time being a bit more fit while doing it?
Console wars: Comparing the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii
Since the realease of Xbox 360 in early December 2005 the 'war' to be the best
next generation console has been raging. The Xbox 360 offered a new experience
of wireless controllers, big storage and advanced graphics, compared to anything
else out at the time. The most appealing part of the Xbox 360 was it's online
play. The 360's older brother blew Playstation 2 net play out of the water with
it's Xbox Live. The 360 aimed to carry on their dominance over the online gaming
world. The Xbox 360 launched with titles like Call of Duty 2 and Perfect Dark
Zero which both targeted single player and online play. I believe that this

combination is what makes the Xbox 360 the console of choice.
One year later the Nintendo Wii blasted into stores and bought a new revolution
to gaming. The new motion gameplay appealed to many people, even non-gamers.
Resulted in it selling more gaming systems than Xbox 360. Although the Wii gave
us new, redesigned gameplay it lacked the titles that Xbox 360 had. The Wii
launched with Legend of Zelda and Redsteel. These games may have been successful
but the Wii failed to release enough titles that continue with these successes.
Instead Nintendo rely on pre-established titles, like Mario and Zelda. Nintendo need to come up with more innovative and new titles to release onto their consoles. Microsoft launched the incredibly successful Halo series and Playstation have their new title Resistance: Fall of Man. Bringing out new games will aid the Wii in keeping up with the other giants in the fight to become top gaming console.
The newly released Playstation 3 is perhaps the top contender to challenge the Xbox 360 for top spot. Although it is the most expensive console out of the three at 425. But looking at it's components we can see why. The Playstation 3 offers us extreme High Definition gaming with it's Blu-ray drive, a new way to view High Definition pictures and video. Also the Playstation 3 has a 60 gigabyte hard drive, three times more than the Xbox 360. It is also unleashing many new titles to help it move above the 360. Resistance: Fall of Man and Motorstorm were amongst the first games to be released for Playstation 3. As well as this the PS3 also came with a light controller that contained a motion censor, just like the Wii. It is easy to see that Playstation is trying to knock out all competition.
After playing on all three consoles I have come to some conclusions about each. First the Nintendo Wii. I
Super Mario – a Short History
Andy L asked:
Super Mario is a classic game series created by Nintendo Entertainment System. It stars an Italian plumber called Mario and his brother Luigi. In most of the games, players are required to finish each level to be able to proceed to the other. In one of the games, the objective of it is to save Princess Peach from the hands of Bowser which is the ruler of the Koopas. The game could be played by two players as well as one.
Super Mario Bros could be considered one of the most successful games ever created as it has more than 40 million copies of it sold. This game may be the backbone of Nintendo’s success in the gaming world as it survived during the video game crash during the 1980s. Due to the overwhelming success of Super Mario, the Mario Brothers are officially Nintendo’s highest known mascot. Even its theme music is well known by a lot of people. It has been well used by a lot of video games as well.
There are additional items that would aid them with their quests. By collecting 100 coins, the life of the character would be increased by one. By collecting a certain mushroom, the characters will turn larger and these characters would be called Super Mario or Luigi. These characters are able to take two hits before losing one of their lives. There are numerous other "upgrades" available and should only require you to check them out by playing the games. Players would also be playing in different worlds where each world has its own sub-level as well. At the last world and at the last level, they would then fight the last boss and victory would mean the end of the game.
Super Mario also has a lot of versions released by Nintendo. Though the graphic gets slightly better by each of the new version coming out, the game play stays the same. The game might be the one that you play just to kill time. Other than that, it may not be so interesting.
However, there are also car racing games that are starred by characters available in the Mario games. You can find these racing games in arcades. The graphics of it are also much better. You can choose your driver and get upgrades and keep track of them in a card which is available for you to buy on the machine itself. It is very enjoyable to play it with your friends and family members or even just by yourself.
Super Mario games are available in a lot of platform such as the GameBoy Advance, Famicom Disk System, NES and many others. There are also flash game versions of Super Mario available for download. Checkout Mario Games Online for free online games to play.
