Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 30
The Wii has completely revolutionized the way people interact with games. As you probably know by now, the Wii remote is physically used as the instrument in the game (the golf club while playing golf, the paddle while playing ping-pong and so on). Meaning no more having to think what buttons you need to push to obtain this or that movement, you just make the movement yourself while holding the remote and voila, the character on-screen does the same. So much easier, right? That's one of the very strong points of Wii, its ease of use, making it accessible even to young kids or older people. A console for the whole family as the commercial says.
Wii can also connect to the Internet and download games from there, the latest news or the daily forecast. Also you get to create your own alter ego (or alter egos) called a Mii. When you're connected to the 'net you have the option of sending your Mii to visit other people's consoles, and receive other people's Miis on your own. Oh, and you can also send messages from one Wii to another (also via Internet).
That's all good and nice but you know the main reason why I got a Wii? It makes you get up from the couch and move. It even has a fitness mode where it tests your reflexes and such and see how you've improved in time. I think that with certain games you're guaranteed to shed some calories and all by playing and having fun with your friends.
A look at the most popular video game console systems – Part 7
Not that long ago buying a video game console was relatively simple. Your options were limited and the end products, although produced by differing companies, were relatively similar. But these days, buying a video game console can be like trying to buy a car and just like a car finding the right system for you and your family can be a little tricky. Here are some things to keep in mind.
First, there are three major companies producing gaming consoles today. They are Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. Now this may seem like a minor piece of information but knowing these three companies is actually very helpful because they all have slightly different target audiences.
Sony Computer Entertainment produces the Playstation and Playstation Portable brand of gaming consoles. Until the first Playstation arrived in America in 1995, gamers did not think of of Sony when it came to games. Times have changed. The Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) is the most recent addition to the Playstation line of consoles and although it has a hefty starting price (399 USD) sales of the system have rebounded strongly in 2008. Sony's goal with the PS3 was not only to introduce a powerful gaming machine but also a powerful multimedia device. The PS3 will play new format Blu-Ray HD DVDs as well as standard DVDs, can be used to store and play music and photographs, and utilizes a wireless (or wired) Internet connection to download movie trailers, game demos, as well as allow on-line gameplay.
Sony's marketing seems to take aim at the late teen to late twenties crowd of gamers as well as multi media aficionados looking for a bargain priced Blu-Ray player. Many of the games released for the PS3 carry a M (Mature) rating and were intended for an audience of 18 or older. Although the PS3 is arguably the most powerful gaming console available as well as a a great multi media hub, it would not be the right fit for a younger audience.
Nintendo is the company that most thirty-something Americans relate to video games and thanks to the release of the Nintendo Wii in 2006 - Nintendo once again has the "it" item. Anyone who has shopped for a Wii can tell you, they are still almost impossible to find. The Wii, while graphically weak in comparison to either Sony or Microsoft's consoles, is a great value at 249.99 USD and a lot of fun to play. Utilizing very responsive motion control, the Wii allows players to really participate in their games. Want to play golf? While your going
Video game reviews: M.U.G.E.N (PC)
In today's economy, many people are struggling. That means we have to save our money and whatnot. That means we need to be conserving our cash for a rainy day. For video games, they can get pretty costly.
The next generation consoles such as the Nintendo Wii, the Microsoft Xbox 360, and the Sony Playstation 3 have been considered costly. However, the Nintendo Wii is the most popular and least expensive of the three next generation consoles. Unfortunately, it is hard to get a Nintendo Wii console. I tried getting one off of eBay. But, that proved to be extremely difficult. Anywhere I go, I see that it is hard to find a Nintendo Wii console.
Luckily, I still have my PC laptop computer. One of the things I have done was trick out my laptop to be a serious gaming machine.
While I do have a bunch of free mass-multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) titles, I also have a bunch of arcade game emulators: CPS3, MAME, Nebular, the SNES emulator, and the Sega Genesis emulator. Plus, there are a bunch of Japanese doujin soft games that I downloaded onto my laptop.
So far, that is somewhat not enough for me. But, these are excellent alternatives to dishing out some heavy cash for a game for one of those next generation consoles.
Back in 2003, I learned about this freeware PC fighting game called "M.U.G.E.N." Last year, I finally decided to check out M.U.G.E.N. For the most part, I was pretty impressed with it.
However, M.U.G.E.N is not necessarily a PC game. M.U.G.E.N is a very interesting 2D fighting game. But, it is not really a game that is ready to play. In a sense, it is a game that you have you have to customize and so forth. It is a game; yet, it is not really a game at the same time.
M.U.G.E.N is a freeware 2D fighting engine that you can download online. It is designed by Elecbyte and written in the C-type programming with the Allegro library. This is a game engine yet a video game at the same time. One of the most interesting things about M.U.G.E.N is that it is open source and very customizable. You can customize your M.U.G.E.N to your liking.
I can download 2D game sprites from a slew of different fighting games and so forth. As a fighting game fanatic, it is a dream come true.
From there, I can put them into my M.U.G.E.N character roster. It is highly unlikely that there is going to be some massive crossover fighting game in the near future. Until then, M.U.G.E.N will have to suffice. So far, M.U.G.E.N is

Guitar Hero 3 cheats for Wii
Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock is an extremely popular video game for Wii, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac. In this musical genre game, players attempt to hit every note and chord in seventy-four songs by using a scaled down Les Paul style guitar controller (Wii version). The controller has five coloured buttons near the top of the controller. If you are right handed, you tap these green, red, yellow, blue and orange buttons (respectively) with the fingers on your left hand and tap the strum bar near the bottom of the controller by putting it between your right thumb and index finger. To get additional points on long chords and notes, use the whammy bar. Also, if you see gems turning into stars, it means you have hit notes without missing any. If you do not know, gems are the notes you will see coming your way when playing. Star gems give you star points, which when you have enough, can also give you more points. When "Star Power Ready" appears on the screen, you can tilt your controller to double your points. These controls simulate the actual playing of a guitar.
Like most video games, Guitar Hero 3 has several cheats, nine actually. To enter cheats for the Wii version, press the green button on "Options" on the main menu. Then go down to "Cheats" and press the green button. You will then see eight lines of question marks numbered from one to eight. This is normal, as the last cheat doesn't make a sound when you finish it. Go to "Insert Cheat Code" and a guitar neck with the five buttons on your controller. Then insert the following cheat codes to get certain effects in the game. I will use G for green, R for red, Y for yellow, B for blue and O for orange. Commas separate each note. Make sure to strum each note.
Large Gems, this cheat increases the size of the gems, so they become oversized. Personally, I do not like it because you need to hit it exactly in the middle of the gem, not just the outsides. The code is G, R, G, Y, G, B, G, O, G, B, G, Y, G, R, G, GR, RY, GR, YB, GR, BO, GR, YB, GR, RY, GR, GY.
Air Guitar, this has no effect on the actual gameplay, it just does not show the guitar of your character. The code is BY, GY, GY, RB, RB, RY, RY, BY, GY, GY, RB, RB, RY, RY, GY, GY, RY, RY.
Hyperspeed, this allows you to set the speed of the notes faster than expert. This is a challenging cheat, a good thing to do if you finish expert mode. The code is O, B, O, Y, O, B, O, Y.
Performance Mode, this
Video games and gaming tips for beginners
Gaming is a hobby that nearly everyone can enjoy. There are countless games available so no matter what your interests may be, you're sure to find a gaming nook that's right up your alley. Some people find their escape in role playing games (RPGs) where you often embark on an epic quest building the statistics of your character in order to advance. Other people are more head on and divulge in first-person shooters (FPSs). In games such as this the screen appears to you as if it were actually you walking through the scenarios completing whatever missions the game may throw your way. There are a multitude of other genres available, too. Some of these include racing, strategy, fighting, and the list goes on. One of the most inexpensive ways to find your niche in the video game world is simply by renting. Many rental stores not only allow you to rent video games, but consoles as well.

The tree main consoles of choice are the Nintendo Wii, the Xbox 360, and the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3). Many of us perceive the Xbox 360 and the PS3 as "powerhouses." Simply meaning that these two have more capacity for sharper visuals. Their graphics tend to be at a higher quality than the Nintendo Wii. Let's not totally destroy our hope for the Wii yet though. Although the Nintendo Wii can't play movies and seems to be a bit lacking in the graphics department the controller is like nothing you've ever seen. Not only does the Wii remote have a built-in speaker but can also control your game with motion sensitivity. This creates a feeling of actually "being in the game." Then, of course, those of you who find your gaming comfort in retro games there's the Super Nintendo (SNES) and the Sega Genesis. These two aren't exactly up to par with the technology of today, but they are most definitely classics.
Now that you have the console of your choice and having found what genres best suit you, it's time to throw-down. Pop in one of those new video games and get going. One last piece of advice to you new gamers; practice. Like anything else, if you're ever going to master gaming, you've got to keep your abilities sharp. Remember, the whole idea of gaming should be to relax and let go. If you get stumped by a pesky puzzle or just can't beat that one race, hang in there, you'll make it. Finally, make sure you have your favorite snacks and beverages nearby, this is your time to lounge. After all, this is what the beauty of gaming is all about.
A look at the most popular video game console systems – Part 1
The video game industry is thriving better than ever before. Every system is unique in its own way and is constantly looks for new and different features to stand out from the rest. A big hit is the XBOX 360. The 360 revolutionized the way people connect with live play, giving people the opportunity to connect with players around the world. On top of the in-game XBOX Live connection, cameras were even made useful so players can visually see each other in certain games like UNO. Also, the graphics are extremely detailed and life-like and games like Grand Theft Auto 4 outsold Halo 3 (beating records for Playstation 3 games, as well as Halo for the 360 itself).
The Playstation has gradually increased its gaming techniques from Playstation 2 to Playstation 3. The third version of the Sony Playstation really incorporates online play, following suit to the XBOX 360. Graphics jumped for this console as well. For the Playstation a big fan favorite would be the RPG Final Fantasy 7; however, the graphics leaped to great new heights when Final Fantasy 8 hit the shelves. From that point on CGI (computer-generated imagery) only increased in detail.
Square Enix also went on to create the PSP (Playstation Portable). For a portable video game system the PSP tops it all. It comes equipped with Playstation-level graphics, online features to connect with others, serves as an MP3 and UMD disc videos. The PSP is handy for travel and entertainment. Like the PSP, there is also the Nintendo DS, which has a completely different style than the PSP.
The Nintendo DS is a dual-screen hand console with touch-screen technology to boot. It comes with a stylus (part of the touch-screen environment) and wireless connection capabilities. Like the PSP it has notable graphics and wireless communication. It allows players to connect with people from all around the world. Although, the PSP seems like a more optimal choice because it may take some time getting used to the controls ad making use of the dual-screens whereas the PSP is one screen and simple controls.
One of Nintendo's best video game systems is, without a doubt, the Nintendo 64. Today the games are still fun to play; the controls are easy, and with all the new video game consoles being released to date. After the Nintendo 64 came the Gamecube. This system wasn't nearly as effective as the Nintendo 64. The generic shape was an attempt at creating a new age, more modern appeal; however, the game play weren't nearly as successful as their previous video game console (The Nintendo 64).
Today Nintendo has finally launched one of the most revolutionary products the video gaming world has ever witnessed before. Children, as well as the elderly, have quickly become fans of the Nintendo Wii. The Wii is revolutionary in the way that it actually convinces the players be active with their games. The controller and console have motion sensors attached where when the players flick their arms and wrists for the Wii's bowling game, the ball actually moves with the faintest of twists.
People used to be able to blame video games for children's lethargy. Fortunately the Wii escaped that generalization by launching the Wii Fit, an exercising program. On top of which, all of the other games get the blood pumping and kids moving just as well. For a parent who is afraid of their child becoming lazy the Wii is an excellent choice. Teenagers also work well with this product, but the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 are also perfect fits. Every system is unique in their own way, but the Wii definitely tops the charts with its technological advancements.

Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 4
I think that the Nintendo Wii is by far the better video game console. They are hard to compare because they are so different. But if you are looking for an well-rounded system that you can play, I recommend the Nintendo Wii. Here is some of the reasons that I would pick the Nintendo Wii before I would pick the Playstation 3.
The main difference between the Nintendo Wii and the Playstation 3 is price. Playstation 3 is over $500, where as the Wii you can purchase for $250. I am sorry, but I cannot personally afford $500 for a video game system. They are too expensive in the first place. The Playstation 3 does not even come with a game, where the Wii comes with one. It's not a great game, but at least it is something to try the system out.

The Nintendo Wii has by far a better game selection. There is over 80 games available for it, and Playstation has about 35 games. There is not really any family, fun, and easy games for the Playstation. There are all sports, fighting and racing games. If you are going to spend hundreds of dollars on video game systems and accessories, it should be something that the whole family can use.
Another benefit to the Nintendo Wii is the interaction. With the use of the controller and nun-chuck, you can get the sense of virtual reality and the feel of actually being in the game. It is a great way to sit with the whole family and play games. I think when Nintendo came out with this it revolutionized the way we will play video games forever.
One downfall someone could see to the Nintendo Wii is that it cannot be used as a DVD players as Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 can. Well, DVD players are very inexpensive so you can buy that and a Wii and still come out cheaper than buying either of those systems. Also, the games are ten dollars cheaper than the other two systems. Overall, I think you are getting a better value with the Nintendo Wii and you will have a system with more video games and it will last longer. Nintendo has been out for a long time, and they know how to make people smile!
Which video game console is better: XBox 360 or PlayStation 3? – Part 2

The Xbox 360 is a top quality cheap game console, The Xbox 360 was near enough 100 cheaper then the Playstation 3, people say that the Playstation is overall cheaper because of the free live but they are incorrect as if you pay for 2 years on Xbox 360 Live, that comes to a total of 80 making the Xbox STILL cheaper then the playstation 3 by 20.
Playstation3 has a blue-ray recognition this is only better quality when it comes to watching blue-ray dvd's, but the blueray dvd also costs allot more money then the regular dvd copies, and the Xbox has top quality graffics with or without blue-ray.
The game play graffics of both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are very simular, and there is only a little difference on each,
but overall the Graffics are about the same.
Xbox 360 clearly has a better online game experience then the Playstation 3 because the Xbox 360 has allot more players then the playstation also the Xbox has better players for more of a challenge, meaning that it is more enjoyable for online gameplay.
The advantage of having a Playstation 3 to a Xbox 360, is that the playstation does not get Red lights meaning that it DOES NOT have as much errors as the Xbox so the Playstation would last much longer then the Xbox 360.
There are curtain games on the Xbox that you cannot get on the Playstation 3, games such as Halo 1-3, Fable Gears of War and a few more top quality games.
People say that the Xbox 360's controllers are much more confortable then the Playstation 3's controllers, because the Xbox controlls are wider and you can get more of a grip around them, also you can get your average Xbox controller Modified to your likings.
Another small difference that makes a large seperation between the two consols, is that the Xbox 360 has Gamerscore and the Playstation 3 DOES NOT, Gamerscore is a fun way of prooving to other players that you are a good gamer, it's simple, you play one of your games, you unlock acheivements and you get gamerscore for your efforts, the more gamerscore that you acheive the better of a gamer you look like when playing online or when friends and family come over.
An advantage of Playstation 3 is that it has a wireless controller like the Xbox 360, but when you are not playing you simply plug your controller into the charger that is connected to the playstation, and next time you play the Playstation your controller is fully charged and ready for you too play.
Tips for finding the video game that is right for you
Today's video games are becoming increasingly expensive, so when choosing a game, it is sensible to be very cautious. If you do not already have a system, choosing one will determine the type of gaming that you will be able to engage in. There are three types of video game systems: the standard console that adapts to the television, a portable handheld devise, and the almost virtual reality option that is the Nintendo Wii. The gamer on the move would be more likely to get the most out of a portable system like the Sony PSP or the Nintendo DS. Handheld gaming has come a long way since the early days of the Game Boy. These new systems operate on LCD screens with impressive graphics and gameplay. The PSP is even capable of playing specially formatted movies and videos.
While the portable systems are strong, they still operate on small screens with fewer abilities than their full-size counterparts. The PlayStation 3, X-Box 360, and Wii have all demonstrated great graphics and impressive gameplay early in their existence. The PS3, however, is ridiculously expensive, retailing for $500 to $600 plus tax. It has yet to show that its extra cost is worth the difference between itself and its competitors. The X-Box 360 has what is widely viewed as the best means of online play with its X-Box Live function, gaining major attention with its Halo series of games. The Wii has been the best seller of this generation of games as its new motion-sensing technology has brought the future of gaming to the present. While the Wii has proved to be fun for just about everyone, it is probably best suited for fans of sports games. Baseball, football, tennis, golf, boxing, and a host of other sports have already shown to be simulated with great effectiveness by the Wii, with more on the way. Fans of Star Wars are also best advised to look toward the Wii as the recently announced Wii version of The Force Unleashed will offer gamers the ability to use the Wii's remote as a lightsaber - a concept that has the entire gaming community intrigued and excited.
If you do not feel the need for the graphics and complex nature of today's games, simple classics like Space Invaders, Frogger, or Asteroids can be found on older consoles or online through a website called GameTap. GameTap provides access to over 900 game titles, most of them from retro consoles and arcade games, for a monthly fee of $9.95. Also, cheap, simple, used retro gaming consoles can be found at stores like
Which video game console is better: XBox 360 or PlayStation 3? – Part 4
This battle has been raging ever since the original xbox was released against the Playstation 2. To begin with I'm not saying the the PS3 is a bad system. It's just not an xbox 360. A lot of people are bring their playstation 2 prejudice to the table against the 360. These are both new consoles and therefore the slate was cleaned when they were released. To make this debate, I'm going to compare the features of the 80 Gb PS3 against the Xbox 360 elite (they are both the top of the line for their producers).
Hard Drive Capacity:
Xbox: 120 Gb
PS3: 80 Gb
Wireless Controllers:
Xbox: Yes
PS3: Yes
Blue Ray Drive:
Xbox: No
PS3: Yes
Built-in Wifi:
Xbox: No
PS3: Yes
For all of the things above that the PS3 comes with and the xbox does not, Microsoft has made an alternative available. You can add the HD DVD drive if that's your thing, you can make your xbox wireless if that's what you need, you can do everything that the PS3 does... BUT... you don't have to! That's right, one of the great things about the 360 on the hardware side of things is that Microsoft caters to the needs of gamers. They provide all of the expanded options for what gamers need, but if you just want to play your games you don't have to pay for all the extra crap! If you don't have an HD tv, then why would you want to spend the extra money for that drive? If you aren't going to connect your xbox to a wireless network, then why pay for it? Microsoft also gives you three options for the hard drive size. If you're a huge online gamer, then you can get the big 120 gig drive, if you want to play online but don't need that much space then you can get the 40 gig drive, and if you don't use online, then don't get any drive. It's YOUR choice.
One of the great things about the Playstation 2 was it's exclusive titles like Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy. But wait... those are now xbox 360 titles. And on the flip side, Grand Theft Auto IV is going to have MORE content on the 360 version than on the PS3 edition. How's that for a turn-around?
Let's compare their online services: Many PS3 fans make a point that you have to pay for Xbox Live services. Well if I had the choice of paying $7 a month for what I get with Xbox Live, or getting what I get for free with PS3, I'm paying the $7. You get new demo downloads every day with Xbox Live, you can instant message anybody anytime. You can connect your webcam and have face-to-face conversations with your buddies in real-time. You can protect your investments on the games that you own. With Content Download, the game is never really over. You can download new levels and characters to keep your games alive. They've got an on-demand service where you can rent or buy movies and shows for about $2 a title. You can network your xbox to your computer and share content. Oh, but PS3 has a web browser... So what!? I'm not buying my xbox to buy another computer, I want a gaming console. I've got a computer and a cell phone to check my email.
So, in final comparison: The xbox 360 is a better value for the price and gives me the options to buy the the features that I want, It's top end rocks the PS3 top end, Xbox Live is worth the $7, Better game titles, better pizza-papa johns (just joking). But seriously, for what is available right now with technology, Microsoft hit a homerun with the 360. I'm not saying that the PS3 is absolute dirt, it just isn't the best.

Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 1
When it comes to consoles, 2007 rang in the year of the Wii, ending the reign of the Playstation gaming systems.
The Wii beat Playstation 3 (PS3) in the number of units sold in December, according to a report by the NPD Group. The Nintendo Wii sold 604,200 units while Sony's PS3 sold 490,700.
These numbers reverse the group's earlier polling data, which indicated that among those planning to buy one of the systems, the majority favored the PS3 over its other next generation rivals.
Both systems lost out to Microsoft's Xbox 360 console, which had been released in November 2005. Xbox 360 sales were counted at 1.1 million. These numbers reflected a dearth of supply in the new systems, with many selling out as soon as they were put on shelves.
Local State College stores experienced this shortage, and many customers looking for the new systems left empty handed, said Nicholas Glantz, product specialist at State College's Circuit City, 48 Colonnade Way.

Circuit City had about 25 Wiis and six Playstation 3s in for the holiday season, he said.
Both systems have been consistent in selling, he said, and they have sold out as soon as they hit shelves. However, he said that the interest in the Wii has been much greater than the PS3.
"We received three calls for the Wii this morning. There's not as much interest in the Playstation 3," he said.
He said at the moment Circuit City is sold out of Wiis, and he could not predict when the next shipment would be coming. Whenever the systems do arrive, they are sure to sell quickly, he said.
"The last shipment we got was four days ago," he said. "We opened at 10 and they were sold by 11."
At State College's Best Buy, media supervisor Ed Ladyka said the customers are showing much more interest in the Wii than the PS3.
"I fielded around 20 calls today for the Wii," he said. The store currently has the PS3 in stock, but not the Wii.
State College's Target, 315 Lowes Blvd., had about a dozen PS3s and 40 to 50 Wiis during the holiday season, said executive team leader Erik Dill.
He said both systems sold out as soon as they were introduced.
"We had people camping outside for two days in freezing cold weather and thunderstorms," he said.
While the Wiis are still selling out, PS3s are not as sought after, Dill said.
"We have a ton of PS3s, and they're not selling," he added.
The Wii costs around $250 compared to the starting price of around $600 for the PS3.
Harris Gordon, a high school student from Allentown, got the PS3 10 days after launch on Nov. 27.
"I love it," he said. "My favorite part is the HD [high-definition] gaming."
He has also played the Wii, which lacks the graphics power of the PS3, but supports a motion-sensitive control scheme.
"It gets boring really quickly," he said.
Steven Jacobs, also a high school student from Allentown, decided to get the Wii over the PS3.
"The PS3 is just so expensive. I never really wanted it," he said.
He said experienced first hand the scarcity of the new systems while trying to find a Wii.
"It took me like a month to find," he said. "I got mine in New York City at the Nintendo store."
Jacobs has played the PS3, but prefers the motion-sensitive controllers of the Wii.
Despite being part of the newest and most advanced group of gaming consoles, Sony's PS3 was beat by its own Playstation 2. The older, less expensive console recorded sales in December of 1.4 million.
Nintendo also had an older system selling well during the holidays. Its Nintendo DS system sold 1.6 million units, more than twice as many as the Wii.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 vs. The Sony’s Playstation 3
Microsoft has tried to catch up with some of the titans of the gaming world, such as Sony with the release of the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 offers many new features that players will love:
Free limited subscription to online gaming - This allows players who have not been participating in online gaming a chance to see what is available at no charge. All Xbox 360s come with Live-aware - This means you can get a friend invite or see who is online and what they are playing from your Xbox 360. The button in the middle of the controller makes all this very easy.
It offers great media features including listening to music while you play games, the ability to create custom playlists and your own custom soundtracks, the ability to rip songs from original CDs to your Xbox 360 and stream music from your MP3 player to your Xbox 360. You can also create slideshows of photos to share with friends and family. Xbox 360 has a wireless controller. No more tripping over the wires, although it can support two wired controllers through USB ports in the front. The game console is not only great for gamers, but developers as well. It is a powerful machine with an unprecedented amount of RAM - a feature added on the request of developers.
But, Xbox 360 still has some problems that need to be worked out:
Their Japanese third party support is lacking - While some Japanese developers offer software for the Xbox, it is small in number when compared to what the same developers offer for Playstation. While the controller is wireless, it eats batteries rather quickly. Standard alkaline batteries only last about thirty hours, so if you buy Xbox 360, invest in rechargeable batteries to save yourself some money in the end. When they were set up in WalMart stores before days before the launch, many suffered what is known as the Xbox "360 screen of death," an error screen. The Xbox 360 had also had some problems with overheating. Some report the Xbox 360 system as being very noisy when playing an Xbox 360 disc.
Many people are eagerly awaiting the release of Playstation 3, which may occur as soon as November of this year. It has been said that the Playstation 3 has an outward feel (which allows it to stand vertically or horizontally on its own), as opposed to the Xbox 360's inward feel. It is a much larger console than the Playstation 2 and closer to the original size of the Xbox. Game discs slide into the console like CDs slide into a car player.
Here are a few attractive features of the Playstation 3:
It is always on, so you can access your Playstation 3 from anywhere as long as you have an Internet connection. With a Playstation Portable, you can connect to your Playstation 3 and transfer media such as music and movies. The Playstation 3 appears to be much more powerful than that Xbox 360, Ninetindo Revolution, and Playstation 2. Initial reports say it will be twice as fast as the Xbox 360. Developers and publishers of over 230 games have announced titles for Playstation 3 games.
Here are a few reported cons and problems with the Playstation 360:
Comes with only 256 MB, less than the 512 MB the Xbox 360 will come with. Their Playstation Network Platform (the online service) is still in development and may not be ready by the time Playstation 3 is released.
The launch of the Playstation 3 has already been delayed due to disk problems.
Both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are incredible gaming consoles. It seems that although the Xbox 360 came out first, the best bet is still the Playstation 3. The strongest point of the Xbox 360 is its online functionality, but Sony may be working on something similar to Xbox Live right now. However, Microsoft is closing the gap with Xbox 360 and probably will eventually catch up with Sony in gaming consoles. For some users, it may come down to something as simple as which one is more compatible with the games they already own.

Nintendo Wii: the Most Sold Gaming Console
The Nintendo Wii gaming console coming from the home of gaming entertainment Nintendo can be called as the direct successor of Nintendo Game Cube. The seventh generation gaming system arrives carrying along with it, the wireless controller, Wii Remote and WiiConnect24 that are capable of receiving messages and updating over the internet in the standby mode.
Launched first in 2001, the gaming console Nintendo Wii was later modified in 2003, after a gap of two years. Nintendo DS directly influenced the Wii design, resulting in adopting it. Nintendo have succeeded in creating a record of heavy sales than its competitors across the globe. In many times, things have happened like crossing the sales that is more than the combined sales recorded by the competitors including Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America in 2007. This console is the smallest among the consoles came out of Nintendo with 44mm width, 157 mm height and 215.4 mm depth in its vertical orientation. Weighing 1.2 kg the Nintendo Wii is the lightest among the three major seventh generation consoles.
The Nintendo WII was earlier coming out in white, black, silver, lime green and red, but now is also available in white. The Wii Launch package includes console, a stand to allow the console to be placed vertically, a circular clear stabilizer for the main stand, a Wii Remote, a Nunchuk attachment, with a one external main power adapter, two AA batteries and a composite AV cable. The game console Nintendo Wii also carries along with a number of internal features that are available from its hardware as well as software components.

Nintendo Wii: the Real Game Console
The Wii game console coming from the home of Nintento is the fifth home video home game console coming in the row and a direct successor to the Nintendo Game Cube. Nintendo released the new Nintendo Wii game console targeting Xbox 360 from Microsoft and PlayStation 3 from Sony. The attractive feature of the game console is Wii Remote, the wireless controller that can be used as a handheld pointing device that can detect acceleration in three dimensions. Another feature is the WiiConnect24, which has the ability to receive messages and updates through the Internet in standby mode. It was in 2004, that Nintendo first opened up on the idea of the console and it was later unveiled in 2005.Nintendo announced the release information for Japan, North and South America, Australasia (Oceania), Asia and Europe, including dates, prices and projected unit distribution numbers on September 14, 2006.
Nintendo Wii succeeded in marking record sales since its launch by taking the total sales to a higher rate than its competitors in the market. As per the NPD Group, the Wii has made more sale of units in North America than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 combined in the first half of 2007. This was much larger in the Japanese market, where it currently leads not only in total sales, but usually outsells both consoles by 3:1 to 6:1 every week.
The Nintendo Wii console is the smallest home unit to date with a measurement of 44 mm (1.73 in) width, 157 mm (6.18 in) height and 215.4 mm (8.48 in) depth in its vertical orientation. The front of the console has an illuminated slot-loading optical media drive that has both 12 cm Wii Optical Discs and Nintendo GameCube Game Discs. Nintendo Wii has console comes in white, black, silver, lime green and red, but is currently available only in white. The Wii launch package consists of the console, a stand to allow the console to be placed vertically, a circular clear stabilizer for the main stand, one Wii Remote, one Nunchuk attachment, one Sensor Bar, a removable stand for the bar, one external main power adapter, two AA batteries, one composite AV cable with RCA connectors, operation documentation and a copy of Wii Sports.

Speculating on the future of video games
Video games can be a lot of fun. There is so much variety these days that there is truly something for everyone in the video game world. Over the past 10 ten years, video games have evolved so much. Remember Atari, with the paddle you moved back and forth to hit the ball? From black and white video games, to one of the newest systems, the Nintendo Wii, video games have changed so much.
The Nintendo Wii is one of the latest systems out on the market. It uses some of the latest technology in which you are able to feel like you are actually in the video game. Playing with the Wii remote and nun chuck, you can actually be one of the characters. It actually can become quite a workout in a sense it is like you are actually fighting, or racing, or whatever the game may be.

Take the video game Dance Dance Revolution for example. This was one of the best video games ever made in my opinion. You hooked the dance mat up to your video game system and followed the on screen cues for your every move. They even had a workout mode to see at the end of each session how many calories you have burned. Now this was high tech!
I think that video games are going to be around to stay. With the Playstation 3 system, you actually have the capability to be able to browse the internet, check your email, and all sorts of things. You are able to be playing against someone across the world if you would like to. It doesn't even cost you a penny to do these things, you just need to have wireless internet in your home.
Video games are going to become more like virtual reality. Your moves are going to dictate what your characters on screen are doing. This is also going to make more family fun nights, in my opinion. More families are going to be sitting around the television and playing video games because there is more interaction for the whole family to see and do.
The only downfall to these new and upcoming systems is that they are going to be really expensive. They are really bad now, at the average of fifty dollars for one game. If you can afford the game systems, I would recommend renting the games and trying them before you purchase them. It can get really outrageous if you buy every one you are interested in.
Is the investment in the Wii a worthwhile one? – Part 3

The Nintendo Wii is definitely an interesting gaming console as well as one of the cheaper ones out there, but is it worth buying? The answer to that question above is entirely up to you and i will leave you to make your own decision, but ill post some facts and notes here to help you make up your mind.
If you compare the Nintendo Wii with a singer, you could say that she has a beautiful voice, but no songs to sing. The Wii simply lacks quality games. The technology is now there, it is available for us to buy, but the game designers use it so badly it just gets boring and the only half decent games out there Nintendo had to make themselves. It seems like it is either hard or take too much time for a game designer to make games for the Nintendo Wii so they just convert the other games they make into Wii by adding a couple of boring features that require the Wii game controllers. You would think the game designers would actually bother to try to make a good game, but they haven't. So the sad state of the Wii has left it to that the best games are the titles that always end up as the best games on Nintendo consoles. You have "Super Mario Galaxy" and "Zelda: Twilight Princess" and then a bunch of crap releases. Wii Sports can be entertaining at times, but it still not quite as awesome as you would think the Wii releases would be. The games will hopefully keep coming and becoming better though, but who knows really. We just have to wait and see.
The console itself I liked. The design is cool and it's not big and annoying taking up the whole room. And the main winning point of a Nintendo Wii is the price, it is way cheaper than the two contesters in the console war. The only console of those three I have actually had was the Wii (I have now sold the Wii) so I can't compare. I do feel that most the consoles suffered from lacking games in the beginning, especially Playstation 3. Playstation 3 suffered from all the games that people wanted was being delayed and it ended up as a console with hardly any worthwhile games.
So yeah bottom line. Buy a Wii if you don't want to spend a lot of money on one of the two other consoles. The Wii is better for the kids with lovable cute games such as Mario and Wii Sports. The console has a lot of features and I do believe there will be some cool games released soon so it might very well be a worthwhile investment. Because of the cheap price of Wii and the possibilities of selling it on for an decent price you won't lose too much on giving it a try. However the Wii does not appeal to everyone so be prepared to either love it or hate it.
Video game reviews: Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3)
Have you ever wanted to be in a band, and get the feeling what it is like to go on tour and have millions of fans screaming at how awesome you are? We now you can do with from the comfort of your living room. Rock Band for the XBOX 360 and the Playstation 3 does a fantastic job of incorporating video games and music. Not only is it good for video game developers, but artists and bands get to have their share of the game.
The entire Rock Band package comes with a drum kit, a guitar and a USB microphone. If you want to be able to play with one person on guitar and one person on bass, then you will need to purchase another guitar to use. Rock Band 2 comes with 84 songs to play, and for about $5.00 more, you can export all of the songs from the Rock Band 1 disc to your hard drive to play through Rock Band 2. Also there is a music store where you can purchase more songs to play for about $2.00 each. Right now there are a total of over 500 songs that can be played.
I already have a Nintendo Wii. When I found out that Rock Band 2 was going to be available I was pretty excited, but after I looked into it some more, then I realized that the Nintendo Wii was not going to be adequate enough. I remember when the first Rock Band came out for the Wii, many people were disappointed with it. With Rock Band 2 on the Wii, they integrated the Music Store into it, but for all of the music that you can download, it did not seem that the hard drive on the Wii would be able to hold all of the songs. Also if you wanted to play the Rock Band 1 songs on the Wii, you would have to change the discs as opposed to being able to export them to your hard drive like you can on the XBOX 360. Also the graphics on the XBOX 360 compared to the Wii are a lot better as far as detail is concerned.
The songs that are included on the discs and the ones that are available in the Music Store to download are really great rock songs. Some of the artists that you can download and play include the Foo Fighters, the Offspring, Lenny Kravitz, and more. Not only do they have these great new artists, but they are included some classics like the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Kansas, and more. They are creating quite a collection of songs to be able to play.
Now some of the downfalls of the game. First of all, if you guy the new wireless drum controller, make sure to be ready to by many, many AA batteries. The controller takes 3 AA batteries to power up the set, and they usually only last me a week or two depending
Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 9
I think interactive is what people wanted and that's what they got with the Wii. It's what was in demand. The PS3 failed because not enough people cared about good graphics or shooter games.
People wanted a family-friendly, educational, and a console that got people off the couch while playing video games. Parents were more willing to buy this kind of console because it made them exercise and it didn't rot their brains with violence and gore. Kids wanted it because it was interactive and they could play it more because parents actually approved of a video game console for once. Single adults wanted it because it is really fun to play in groups. Senior citizens sort of wanted it because there are less buttons to get confused over.
The games available for it also helped with it's popularity. Wii Sports, the game the comes with the Wii when you buy it, is a simple, interactive game that let's you play the main sports of the world while utilizing the sensitivity of the Wiimote. Tennis is the most popular of the sports. Among the people I know including my mom, Tennis was the most fun experience they had with any game they've ever played. Wii Play, another one of the first games that came out for the Wii, made you use brain your while Wii Sports made you use your body. Cooking Mama, best for avid fans of the culinary arts, used the Wiimote's sensitivity to make you use your brain as well as your body. In this game, it's all about precision and energy. In a new game that just came out, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, you can use the Wii's Wi-Fi connectivity to play with people around the world. In games that are coming soon, Wii Fit and Endless Ocean, you can utilize the educational and healthy exercise programs these games offer.
You can also turn the off using the Wiimote. This function just goes to show that the Wii really uses its wireless part. The wireless factor also makes it easier to put away the controllers. No wires means less tangling for you to sort out. It's also easier to put Cd's in it. The Wii will just suck up the game you put in. The PS3 may also have this function, but the Wii does it cooler. It's backward function allows you to play Gamecube games as well. That's for those who want to play Gamecube games. Just plug a Gamecube controller into the top, put in a Gamecube CD and you can start playing. Although nothing compares to actually being outside and doing things, the Wii gets pretty darn close.
I'm donating any money I make to the NAA, because my brother has Autism and I love him very much.
Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 16
Last winter video gamers around the world anticipated the release of two new video gaming systems. The hype that led up to the release of Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii was incredible. Yet, it was not until the release of these two platforms that the competition had actually begun. There were many hard core gamers who claimed supremacy for the PlayStation 3; but, if majority rule has any say the Wii was, and is, the clear winner.
The first obvious thing of course is the price tag. Nintendo's Wii costs less than half of what you would spend on a new PS3. The PS3, I would say, is out of the price range for the very young gamers and even for a lot of older gamers. Granted, Sony had to spend a lot of money on developing this machine and the hardware itself is akin to some of the best gaming computers on the market; but, in comparison to the Wii, with Nintendo you get more for your money. Why is this?
Yes, the PlayStation 3 has insane graphics capabilities. Yet the audience that can take advantage of these capabilities is fairly limited. To take full advantage of the graphics capabilities you need to have a top-of-the-line HDTV in your home. I know that there are quite a few consumers today that do not have an HDTV in their home. I'm sure the hard core gamer is going to have the best equipment available for their gaming experience. What about the casual gamer, such as myself? If I were to purchase a PS3 I wouldn't be able to use it on my ancient television set. This is a clear draw back of the system itself. Sony tried so hard to create the ultimate gaming experience; they forgot that many of the consumers of their product wouldn't be able to use it. The Wii, while less sophisticated in terms of graphics capabilities, is able to connect to less technologically advanced televisions. This creates for Nintendo a much larger audience to sell their product to. Now grandma and grandpa and little Billy can play games without having to fork out thousands of dollars for a new TV set.
Now we get into the obvious advantage that the Wii presents- the revolutionary motion sensor controllers. This is what makes the Wii so fun to play. Mom and dad will be less likely to be upset that little Billy wants to play Nintendo for 2 hours because while he's playing he's getting a workout. I played Wii boxing for an hour one day and had sore arms for the next two. If you put on some wrist weights for an extra challenge you computer geeks won't get
Is the investment in the Wii a worthwhile one?
I have carefully been contemplating on what new next-generation console I had wanted to buy. I do want to get all three consoles. But there was this question I needed to ask: Which console do I buy first? There is the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 3, and the Xbox 360. All three are formidable gaming consoles in their own right.
But the consoles are very pricey.
I carefully thought about which console I should get first. Each of these consoles would be an investment. They would be three individual investments.
Of all the three, I decided that I would get the Nintendo Wii first. So far, I felt that it would be a very worthwhile investment. I saw that Nintendo Wii has numerous capabilities present in neither the Playstation 3 nor the Xbox 360. The Wii has free online play provided that you have access to a high-speed Internet connection. The most important thing would be its price tag. The Nintendo Wii is far cheaper than the Playstation 3.

You can get a Nintendo Wii for between $150 and $250. You would have to pay between $400 and $500 for the Playstation 3. The difference in cost of consoles was the one thing that ended up hurting Sony. I would say that I would only have to pay less while I get more in return. When you look at the price tag, it is not really that bad. You could get a Nintendo Wii for a lower price off of eBay.
I can sell off my Nintendo Gamecube when I get the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo Wii is backward compatible with the Nintendo Gamecube.
It means I can play my Gamecube games on the Nintendo Wii. I would not be able to do the same thing on an Xbox 360. If I got an Xbox 360, I would have to keep my old Xbox. This is another reason I would consider the Nintendo Wii as a worthwhile investment.
The Nintendo Wii has something else that neither the Xbox 360 nor the Playstation 3 has: the ability to download twenty years worth of games. You can download games for just about every Nintendo game system up until the release of the Nintendo DS. It means you can download games for the: NES, SNES, Virtual Boy, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Super Famicom, and the Game Boy Advance. That is reason enough to consider the Nintendo Wii as a worthwhile investment.
Also, the Nintendo Wii can be used as a fitness tool. So far, the popular rhythm n' dance game "Dance Dance Revolution" is now available for the Nintendo Wii. You can get your daily cardio-respiratory exercise each day by playing a few rounds of Dance Dance Revolution.
There is also the release of the Wii Fit. This is a game that is focused on actual physical exercise. As an exercise tool, it sure beats having to pay an expensive monthly membership to the gym. It also beats having to be out in the hot sun in which you can get a nasty case of sunburn.
If you really think about it, you are getting more than your money is worth by investing in a Nintendo Wii.
The Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 has yet to follow suit. It may take awhile before both Sony and Microsoft will follow after Nintendo.
For the 2D fighting game fans, getting a Nintendo Wii is a good investment. It was announced that there would be no more 2D fighting games being ported to any of the Playstation game consoles. If you like fighting games in general, you should invest in a Wii.
"Tatsunoko vs. Capcom" and "Street Fighter IV" are being ported to the Nintendo Wii.
Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 10

The Playstation 3 is overpriced, and it does not have the games to back up its price.
A video game system is all about the games. I do not think that even though a Playstation 3 can be the guidance system for a NASA fueled rocket ship, though it can make waffles and eggs and freshly squeezed orange juice, it needs games.
It needs games, and it needs a gaming experience.
When the first Playstation came out, it was heads and tails above any console at the time. Period.
When the Playstation 2 came out, it was boring the first two year, because there were not a lot of good titles out there.
Once the games starting coming out though, the power of the system, its easy to use controller, and the fun and excitement of the system came through.
Even when the Xbox arrived, and some Playstation fans jumped ship, it was not that significant.
The Playstation 2 was on top, and it was dominating the consoles to the point where the first Playstation was outselling the Ninetendo Gamecube and the Xbox in Japan, as well as in the United States.
The new competition heated up, and soon the Xbox released its 360, and Playstation released its next generation player, the PS3. Nintendo came out with its new console, the Wii.
Both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 play dvds. The Wii does not( Although I have heard about ways to get it to online, I am not sure if these are rumors or not and am not interested).
Why do I mention this? Well because while the PS3 does play Blu-Ray, which has seemingly won over the Xbox 360 backed HD dvd(which has currently been halted altogether, no more new HD dvds), the Wii came out of nowhere and is hugely popular.
It has consistently outsold both of the new systems and is more economical as a purchase, more interactive for the player, has more of a futuristic feel, and has many of the popular games of the other two systems, but with the Wii remote, they become something entirely new.
In addition to this, the games that are unique to the Wii, the Super Paper Mario, and the Super Mario Galaxy, the graphics are good, and the game play is really fun and interactive.
The Wii has stunned everyone, even themselves, they were not prepared for the rush, and are making a million units a month to make up for the unexpected demand.
Why unexpected? Because everyone is simply locked into the idea that dvd playing, big graphics, big marketability, these are the things gamers want.
You want to know why people still play Q-bert, Pac-man, Donkey Kong, and Super Mario Bros., its because a great game is a great game. And the games on the Wii are great, and the way you use the Wii remote is so cool, it feels really really like you are more a part of the game play, and this personalizes the game and makes it more fascinating.
The Wii will continue to be better than the Playstation 3 until the Playstation 3 can put out the thing that made it such a desired console initially, good video games.
Nintendo and Sony Close on Sales in January 2008

The NPD Group provided a reminder this week that market growth is not guaranteed. The gaming industry in the US ended the year (2007) with record retail sales of nearly $18 billion.
This week The NPD Group the industry-research firm released US retail sales data for the January 2008 period. While software sales for the month were up 11 percent to nearly $611 million, hardware sales fell by a quarter to around $378 million. Combine that with a modest decline in accessory sales, the industry overall was down 6 percent for the month, posting $1.18 billion compared to January 2007's $1.25 billion take.
Despite this, the month contained indications that the industry actually grew. That was because the January 2007 reporting period was five weeks long as opposed to this January's four-week span. Analyst Anita Frazier said that the numbers are much rosier when this adjustment was taken into account.
The big winner in the gaming market was console software which was nearly 50 percent up when compared to last year.
Hardware sales were down and a lot of this was to do with poor supply that assertion was backed up by a statement from Microsoft saying the Xbox 360 was suffering from temporary shortages.
Nintendo's longtime lead on its competitors was also slimmed. The Wii once again took the console sales crown, by a narrower margin than in previous months. In a month that saw significant advances for the PlayStation 3's chosen Blu-ray disc format, Sony's system ran nearly neck-and-neck with the Wii, selling 269,000 systems compared to the Nintendo’s 275,000. 3rd placed Nintendo DS racked up 251,000 sales, while the Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable brought up the rear, selling 230,000 units each.
Familiar faces dominated the software list, with Modern Warfare and Call of Duty 4 for the Xbox 360 once again beating all challengers, notching up 331,000 in sales. Another favourite Guitar Hero on the Wii and Xbox 360 took third and fifth respectively, Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii was sixth and the DS edition of Mario Party in ninth.
THIS IS THE NPD GROUP's DATA FOR US GAME INDUSTRY SALES FOR JANUARY 2008

A statement from Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello is confident the company's revenue will jump to around $6 billion by the fiscal year 2011, with at least $900 million from digital revenue streams like downloadable content, in-game advertising and subscription fees. That would represent a growth of 71 percent over its 2008 fiscal year revenue forcast, which it expected to hit roughly $3.5 billion.
Other new announcements made by EA yesterday included a release date of September 7 for Spore (and possible PS3 and Xbox 360 versions).
Nintendo Wii Console Review
Recognized for its sleek design and unique controller, the Nintedo Wii marks Nintendo's return to power in the home console market. One of the most attractive aspects of this system (other than its minute size) is its price tag. While affordability seems to be a lost concept among next-generation consoles, the Wii clocks in at a reasonable $280.
The Most innovative part of the new Nintendo is the Wiimote controller. The controller is motion sensitive, allowing users to play games a whole new way and giving players a more "in game" feel. While some games manage to do this in a surprisingly fluid way, other games feel awkward and fail to registers some motions. The new controllers will give future game designers more creative freedom and there is hope that later games for the Wii will make better use of its functionalities. Of course, the new controller does not come without problems. There have been numerous reports of wayward controllers refusing to stay in gamers' hands and breaking television screens. As far as graphics go, the Wii falls short. The graphics of the Wii are not at all next-gen, and are in fact the exact same as those of the Gamecube.
For the casual gamer the Wii is a good fit--the low price tag makes casual gaming affordable and the controller lets casual gamers compete with full time gamers. The virtual arcade allows for the play of original Nintendo games, which has great nostalgic value. The Wii is fun to fool around with, but more serious gamers may want to move up to the graphic powerhouses by grabbing a Sony playstation 3 or an Xbox 360. The limited selection of games may leave Wii users feeling left out. Still, the Wii is innovative, fun to play, and shows hope for the future.

Get A Great Deal With Video Game Rental
Jane Calhoun asked:
Video game rental is the single best way to try video games before you buy. With many game prices starting at $30 and going as high as $50 and even higher, paying such high prices for video games that might be less than what you expected can be just too big a gamble.
While it's true that gamers can view "walkthroughs" screen shots online, and other online game samples are available to take a look at how a game works, there is nothing like actual hands on playing to find out whether it's something you will love, like or hate.
Just like movie rentals, video games are available to rent from many or most movie rental companies, along with some game stores and online as well. The big problem with renting form a local store, though, is that they rarely have a good selection, and it can be very expensive.
As a result, being able to rent video game online is making a big splash. Video game rental is the ultimate in convenience and cost savings. Especially with games for new game platforms exceeding $50, renting games can be a good alternative. Video game rental means you don't have to buy a game for $30 or more, but you can try games before buying to make sure it's a game you want to keep. Just like services like NetFlix or Blockbuster's movie service through the mail, game rental companies are springing up too.
For teens and older gamers, trying before buying can keep from spending hard-earned money on games that turn out to be duds. Gamers can try nearly every game that's on the market. And many video game rental companies let you keep the game you want to buy at a discount.
The companies that let you rent video game online have incredible selections of games, and have them for every platform on the market - handheld game systems like the Game Boy or Nintendo DS, through GameCube, and the high end too like Xbox, Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. For gamers that have multiple game systems, such as console as well as handheld, it helps to be able to choose games for short rental periods when going on vacation for example. For the games you want to rent, you can add them to a "queue" or list, and when one is returned, the next one is sent out.
But best of all, many game services offer credits that add up as you continue your subscription. These credits can be applied toward buying games. When you find a game you like, you can usually just keep it and they will send you the box and inserts, with free shipping. In just one sample of purchase pricing, a game that retails for $50 could be purchased for $27 after applying credits and discounts - a really great deal all around!
Video game rental is a great way to try out games before spending the ever-higher prices to buy them, and can even let you purchase a game at a discount. Many online video rental companies offer a free trial - it's worth it to see if it is right for you.
