How to set up your Wii

Now that you have fought off the nasty crowds at the electronics store, and secured your Nintendo Wii system, got it home without incident and into your house, this is what you should do. Follow these steps to set up your Wii:

1) Remove the Wii from the box
2) Remove the AV cable and the AC adapter
3) Remove the stand plate, vertical stand, sensor bar and sensor-bar stand
4) Remove the Nunchuk and Wii Remote
5) Choose your location near the TV for your Wii and set it up vertically or horizontally
6) Connect the AV cable and the AC adapter to the Wii
7) Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet. Connect the AV cable to the input on your TV. Connect the yellow cable to the video input and the red and white cables to the audio inputs
Get out the remote control and put in the batteries

How to set up your Wii Control

The Wii Remotes do not automatically bond with you Wii console. You will have to tell it to do so. 2) Select the Wii Remote Settings option
3) Select the Reconnect Option
4) Simultaneously press 1 and 2 buttons on the remote that you want to sync to the Wii console
5) When the lights stop blinking and your remote vibrates your remote has temporarily synchronized with that particular Wii console
6) The attachment of the remote should be shown on the screen as well

The XBox breaks so often, someone once joked that it should be re-named "The Red Ring of Death." That's one of the three biggest reasons the XBox 360 is worse than the PlayStation 3.

1. They're Defective

When Microsoft released the XBox 360, they acknowledged that at least 3% of them were defective. Everyone complained the failure was rate was higher, and Microsoft finally admitted it - it's really 5% of all XBox 360's that have to be returned. But the real number of failures could be a lot higher. Nearly everyone has seen the tell-tale sign - the three red lights around the power button forming a "ring of death." When 360 Gamer conducted an online survey, over 4,469 XBox owners responded, with a whopping 62.5% reporting a defective XBox. (And over 22% reported that more than one XBox console had failed on them!)

But even when Microsoft replaces your defective XBox, guess what? They'll give you the worst possible replacement unit, usually somebody ELSE'S s defective XBox that was quickly slapped back together. So that'll break too. Some people report that they've had to return their XBox's over and over again. (One user was on his eighth XBox!)

The European government even launched an investigation into Microsoft because the XBox 360 had too high a failure rate. But if you want to buy a game console that won't actually play any games - go ahead.

2. They're Old

If you want to play games with a technology from 2005, then the XBox is for you. Buying an XBox means gaming with outdated graphics, the worst of any console on the market. The PS3's newer Blu-Ray technology is cutting eduge, giving much better detail.

Everyone in the industry acknowledges that Microsoft's XBox 360 technology is older, clunky, and not as sophisticated. XBox lovers tries to spin that into positive, by saying "This is bad, old, technology - so it's cheaper!" But that's really an acknowledgement that the PlayStation 3 is better.

3. XBox Games are Awful

There may be one or two games worth playing on the XBox 360 - but everything else is a retread of some multi-platform game.
