Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 14
A not so technical look at the Wii
I personally am not a tech person. I can tell by looking at the Play Station 3 that the graphics are amazing, but that is not all I look for in a video game. The Wii is a wonderful creation, in that a good number of the games have brought physical activity into the mix.
I am the mother of an eight year old boy who has a Play Station 2, a Game Boy Advanced, and a Wii. There are only about 2 games that he likes to play on the Play Station 2, and no games that he plays on the Game Boy Advanced. However, he plays a wide variety of games on the Wii. I think he enjoys the more interactive style of the Wii.
Sitting stationary for too long does not work for our son. He has no problem staying focused, as long as he has some stimulation, and the Wii definitely provides that for him. As a matter of fact many of our family members, of all ages enjoy playing the Wii. Our son is constantly challenging his grandmother to a game of bowling, my husband and his brother love to hunt, and I love to box. Al thought I do need a shower from all the sweating I do playing the boxing game on the Wii. I once read an interview of a Victoria's Secrets model, who said that she stayed in shape by going to a boxing gym. I wonder if the Wii boxing can get me into shape like that?
When the Wii, and the Play Station 3 first came out, my husband wanted the Play Station 3, but they were both hard to find. After our son had played the Wii at his friend's house, I explained the game to my husband, which peaked his interest. One day, we were at a large chain store, and they had just received a shipment of Wii consoles. After a short discussion, mostly our son and I begging, we decided to buy one. The $250 price tag, compared $600 for the Play Station 3, didn't hurt either. As far as toys and games go, I think the Wii is one of the best investments we have made for family entertainment.
Finding A Cheap Wii Online Is Now Easier Than Ever!

I have wanted a Nintendo Wii for as long as I can remember, the main problem is the price! Even if you go on sites like eBay you can still expect to pay a hefty price and even when the price isn't very high they cheat you out by making you pay hundreds of dollars for shipping and handling. It really is quite aggravating! Recently however, being the researcher I am, I found a few sites online that allow you to buy Wiis for a really great price, these stores are known as cheap or discount stores. I prefer the word discount because when you say the word "cheap" a lot of people assume it's of lesser quality which just isn't the case!
I found one site that probably had the best price I've seen thus far, it's a site located in the UK so the prices are in pounds but the currency converted to USD is still an amazing buy! eBay has a few hundred for around $400USD and then they charge another $100USD or so for shipping and handling. The worst part is most of these Wiis on eBay aren't "buy it now" they are for bidding on, so the price starts at .01 and ends up at $400 and on to $4000. Yeah it really is true, in fact I bid on a few with just a few minutes left and I was the top bid at $100 and boom before you know it 100 people bid like crazy and it ends up going from $100 to $1000. It's unbelievable! These UK sites, however, sell the Wii for about 179 pounds which converts to about $254 USD. That's an incredible price tag for these console systems!
But that's not all these discount stores offer, they also have a ton of Wii games, accessories, cheats and bundles! Let's try some more examples of the top Wii games out, shall we? I'll put everything into USD so you can get a better idea!
Wii Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Retail $50
Discount $39
Wii Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WW II
Retail $40
Discount $20
Wii Nunchuk Controller
Retail $20
Discount $16
So you see even if it's just a few bucks, a few bucks is something to get excited about! Really, which is the best choice for you? I would go for the discount store. You can have all the high quality products the regular stores sell, for a fraction of the price, and who doesn't love saving money?!? Try it out for yourself so you can see exactly what I mean. Have fun!

Is the investment in the Wii a worthwhile one?
I have carefully been contemplating on what new next-generation console I had wanted to buy. I do want to get all three consoles. But there was this question I needed to ask: Which console do I buy first? There is the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 3, and the Xbox 360. All three are formidable gaming consoles in their own right.
But the consoles are very pricey.
I carefully thought about which console I should get first. Each of these consoles would be an investment. They would be three individual investments.
Of all the three, I decided that I would get the Nintendo Wii first. So far, I felt that it would be a very worthwhile investment. I saw that Nintendo Wii has numerous capabilities present in neither the Playstation 3 nor the Xbox 360. The Wii has free online play provided that you have access to a high-speed Internet connection. The most important thing would be its price tag. The Nintendo Wii is far cheaper than the Playstation 3.

You can get a Nintendo Wii for between $150 and $250. You would have to pay between $400 and $500 for the Playstation 3. The difference in cost of consoles was the one thing that ended up hurting Sony. I would say that I would only have to pay less while I get more in return. When you look at the price tag, it is not really that bad. You could get a Nintendo Wii for a lower price off of eBay.
I can sell off my Nintendo Gamecube when I get the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo Wii is backward compatible with the Nintendo Gamecube.
It means I can play my Gamecube games on the Nintendo Wii. I would not be able to do the same thing on an Xbox 360. If I got an Xbox 360, I would have to keep my old Xbox. This is another reason I would consider the Nintendo Wii as a worthwhile investment.
The Nintendo Wii has something else that neither the Xbox 360 nor the Playstation 3 has: the ability to download twenty years worth of games. You can download games for just about every Nintendo game system up until the release of the Nintendo DS. It means you can download games for the: NES, SNES, Virtual Boy, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Super Famicom, and the Game Boy Advance. That is reason enough to consider the Nintendo Wii as a worthwhile investment.
Also, the Nintendo Wii can be used as a fitness tool. So far, the popular rhythm n' dance game "Dance Dance Revolution" is now available for the Nintendo Wii. You can get your daily cardio-respiratory exercise each day by playing a few rounds of Dance Dance Revolution.
There is also the release of the Wii Fit. This is a game that is focused on actual physical exercise. As an exercise tool, it sure beats having to pay an expensive monthly membership to the gym. It also beats having to be out in the hot sun in which you can get a nasty case of sunburn.
If you really think about it, you are getting more than your money is worth by investing in a Nintendo Wii.
The Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 has yet to follow suit. It may take awhile before both Sony and Microsoft will follow after Nintendo.
For the 2D fighting game fans, getting a Nintendo Wii is a good investment. It was announced that there would be no more 2D fighting games being ported to any of the Playstation game consoles. If you like fighting games in general, you should invest in a Wii.
"Tatsunoko vs. Capcom" and "Street Fighter IV" are being ported to the Nintendo Wii.
