Video game reviews: Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) – Part 1

Rock Band is the newest popular video game that makes people think they're rock stars. It is a bigger and better version of Guitar Hero and all its offspring because it has all the elements of a good rock band. You can play the guitar or the bass (using the same instrument, of course), you can sing, or you can play the drums.

The game allows you to play with any number of people. You can play your favorite instrument alone or you can have friends over and jam out. On the Xbox, you can create characters, so your band in the game actually looks like you! You can also choose to use already made characters. Once you have your band mates, you can name yourselves and start playing.

These non-traditional video games never have as much staying power as your Grand Theft Autos or your Halos, because it isn't a long complicated mission. You can tour with your band and earn money by playing songs, but at the end of the day, you're still doing the exact same thing over and over. Even though, there are different instruments to play with and master, it will eventually get boring like all Guitar Hero games do.

The best instrument out of the three is definitely the drums. This is the first time drums have been part of a game like this. The guitar games have been around along with karaoke games like Singstar and American Idol that allow you to sing using your game console. But the drums is truly new and innovative. It's also the gaming instrument that best resembles the real instrument. Many drummers will tell you that practicing on Rock Band helps you with real drums. It's actually not unlike electric drum sets.

You can try to play real guitar after mastering the video game guitar but you're going to fail. It would be interesting to see if they develop more realistic guitars in the future. As far as gameplay goes, you can't get much variety from the different instruments. And although it's a lot of fun at first, you get bored of it easily.

You can only play different things if you advance to hard and expert levels and doing that requires really learning the instrument like you would real guitar or bass. And if you're putting that much effort into it, why not just learn to play the real thing?

People have always said to me what would you rather have a PS3 or a Nintendo Wii and i always have to think for a minute but i always end up saying the Wii. Seeing as i have both and have extensively played both of them , the Wii is better and is a magical piece of Gaming technology and has some Incredible Games. But the PS3 will always have more people buying it because the ps3 has just been awaited for , for so long and it is a lot more well known around the world.But the Simple Matter is the Wii is a better Gaming Console and is more Family Freindly. On the other hand the PS3 is a magnificent Console for men and Women alike and is the most advanced of its kind in internet Gaming and the Games on it are too good too describe. So the PS3 is a brilliant Console and you can talk to people on it during games and the Internet browser is as good as on a Computer . I suppose you can get updates on a PS3 and you can't get them on a Wii . If you want an all out Gaming system you would have a PS3 but if you wanted something exclusive and cool you would go for the Wii. And the New Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is an un-real game and all my friends bought it.

Now the Wii has special sensors specially developed by nintendo and they Were at it for ages. The Wii can be played online but its not as good as the PS3. And the Wii can be played better in a Family and it's cheaper than than the PS3 . The Fact is that the PS3 is not better than the Wii the Wii is better . Um sorry about this but this is my first Article and i can't think of anything else so i will have to extend it by saying alot of stuff that does not make a bit of sense at all . Choosing a video game console – Part 3

The best system you can pick is the one that favors you the most. For example the new wii is for people that want to go from regular video games to active video gaming. The wii lets you move around your hands with the new controls it has instead of just pushing buttons you move. Its size is small but it could be useful for that because people cant even find a place to put things in there messy house. Well all im saying is that it cant take that much room from you and its perfect for having fun swinging with the control so you can kill evil bunnies in Rayman(video game).

The PS3 is a very high priced console that is very shinny and looks like one of George Foreman's new grill design. It costs about $250 to make and sales for $600 dollars. It has blue ray disks that are much greater than HD but still their isn't a lot of TV's that have blue ray in them so why have that? Well the games are really good with their graphics but still its not worth it. Let me tell you why, the system is a Joke their was more sales in japan for PS2's than PS3's trust me. Another reason is that it got beaten by the new wii in its own game. How may you ask? well The wii sold more than the PS3 in one week than it sells in one month.

The Xbox 360 is one of the best systems out right know cause of its cool add-ons for it and its famous X-box live program. If you like to trash talk with other people while playing Halo(example). You can be killing and having fun playing fun games with your friends in Xbox live. The Xbox 360 has a lot of great games for it like Halo, Halo 2, Gears of War, and Tonyhawks project 8. The Xbox is a great console and is friend related.

I hope I changed your mind for something better and exiting. Just buy whatever fits you in any way.

Video game reviews: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)

A lot of people have wii's as of late. 30 million to be precise. This is mostly due to the range of audiences it appeals to. This then means there are a lot of new gamers out there. The wii is possibly their first console. With Smash Bros we have a game that could appeal to many people but only the more hardcore gamer will buy it as they know what it can offer. For those of you who are new to gaming I strongly suggest buying this game....here's why:

Graphics - This game may not be as graphically good as games on the PS3 and Xbox but that doesn't matter. It has had to so much care and attention on that you are left with a graphically beautiful game that will not disappoint. It stretches the capabilities of the wii to the max. After you watch the opening video you will be hooked.

Game play - This is where this game stands tall over any other fighting game. You control your character on a set level. You can perform a set of individual attacks for each character, of which there are 35. There are also many levels all of which have special features. This includes levels that move or change season.

Life - You will be playing this game till the next generation. I have been playing the game cube version of this game for 6 years and only gave it up to play this new game! There are plenty of side missions and events. The one player mode itself can take a good few hours.

Music - an original score by some of the gods of video game music will not disappoint. There are around 4 tracks for each level. Many classics have been remixed such as old sonic and Mario songs.

As I have said there are many characters, some you will know and some you won't. Mario, Sonic, Solid snake, Link and Yoshi are but a few. New for this game is the smash move. This is a special move that is basically insane and will kill your foes rather easily.

Also included are a wide range of items for you to use during gameplay.These can give you your health back or they can be used to fight your enemy. New to this game are assist trophies. These appear on the screen in the form of capsules. As soon as you pick it up an character will be released from the capsule and will temporarily help you to fight. Nintendo have included some fan favorites in these assist trophies. Also included are new ranges of pokemon that will help you at random times.

This game is Nintendo at their best. There is so much that will happen and so many variations of play that I do not want to spoil. For 25 this game is a bargain. There are no fighting games out there on any console better than this game. If you have a wii...buy this game.

Overall i think the Nintendo Wii is better then the Playstation 3, mainly because of the innovation and originality involved. The Nintendo consoles f late have been seen generally geared towards younger players, whereas the playstations have been seen as aimed towards older teenagers due to more graphic and adult games, as well as darker color schemes that lent better towards dramatic and more mature games. The Nintendo consoles have been generally had more brightly colored graphics, which of course encouraged more childish and younger aimed games.

The Wii again has aimed more for this market, where the playstation has again aimed for more mature audiences.

This would normally have made the playstation better because of better graphics and a greater range of titles available, however the Wii is much more innovative as it encourages group play better, as well as making people be more active whilst playing the games. With the obesity epidemic these days, (which is often blamed on children playing video games too much and not getting enough exercise) the Wii seems to have the answer, rather than stopping children doing what they enjoy, it blends activity with gameplay.

Also the Wii has dared to take a risk by trying something different rather than in-keeping with the usual formula with familiar controllers, inactive gameplay, and relying on familiar titles to achieve sales.

This is why the Wii has the edge over the playstation 3 in my opinion, as well as the fact that it is less than half the price of the best PS3.

Thus, they added a HDMI port to the Elite that will be able to deliver high-definition content as well. Other fact is that Elite comes with a HDMI cable while PS3 does not. For PS3 owners, fear no more because you can find a HDMI cable for cheap in the range from $5 to $20 on the internet.

Elite comes with a headset that is $19.99. However, PS3 does not come with one so it would cost $19.99 to get one for the PS3 owners.

First of all lets look at the question shall we? I quote "Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii?". The question did not ask which one is cheaper therefore the fact that 2 wii's are the same price as one PS3 is irrelevant. There is no argument about it the PS3 is expensive compared to the wii however it is the better console by far. To start with lets look at problems with the wii.

There are some serious problems with the wii and i shall list some of them.

* No DVD playback support

* Only one controller comes standard!

* The innovative controller is far from precise and many call it "annoying".

* No blue tooth.

* No blue ray.

* Not many multi player options.

* No HDTV support.

* Bad graphics in comparison.

* Some games take long to load.

* Online capabilities are non-existent with 3rd party games.

The PS3 on the other hand;

* Does have DVD playback support.

* Does have blue ray.

* Will have HDMI(high definition multimedia interface) as standard.

* Many multi-player options.

* Really good graphics.

* wi-fi capabilities

* plays PS2 games compared to the wii which only plays wii games.

* very good user friendly wireless controllers.

* very powerful (short loading times)

The PS3 is as good as the wii is bad. The PS3 is simply for the serious gamer who expects and receives the better console!

Ohh such a heated topic, the incredible XBox 360, or the long-awaited Playstation 3? Which one is better, you ask? We all have our opinions, but I support the XBox 360.

I will admit that I do not own a PS3; however, I have had an XBox 360 since its release date. The PS3 is a force to be reckoned with, but nothing compared to the 360. Power-wise, the PS3 might have a bit more torque to it, but that's nothing. Its excellence in power sacrifices its ability to be universal... if you take a look at the PS3's game-choice, the "playlist" is rather skimpy compared to that of the XBox 360.

In choosing a console, you must consider all of the relevant factors, not just some of them. I won't mention any numbers in this argument, for such information can be tampered with at times, but price is a good one. It can be reasonably agreed that the XBox 360 is significantly cheaper in price than the Playstation 3.

Now, some would argue that the increase in price for the PS3 goes towards the excess in graphical quality compared to the XBox 360. Wrong; the average FPS the Playstation 3 operates at is much higher than the human eye is capable of seeing, causing quite an overkill in a relatively non-imperative area. This is not to say that graphics aren't very important, but on that level, they are not. The detail and animating ingenuity the XBox is capable of is even with the PS3; it all comes down to the games, which sparks the true argument and incentive to buy one console over the other.

The games are what sells the systems; you can have an amazing system, sporting more processors than a battleship has weapons, enough freakin' video RAM to drown a power plant, and the best wireless Internet connection the world can offer, but it will be nothing without the games. This is where the XBox pulls ahead of the Playstation in my belief; nothing can compete with games like Halo, Gears of War, Foreza, Ninja Gaiden 2, which is planned to be an XBox exclusive masterpiece... Fable 2, Guitar Hero 3, and whatever else that may strike your individual interest. Sure, the PS3 has God of War, but that's pretty much it. Most everything else the Playstation will be getting, the XBox will be supporting as well. However, many of your favorite, popular titles will be XBox 360 exclusive. So why waste your time driving to your friends house so you can play Halo on his TV, when you could just buy your own, and make your friends drive instead? The answer's simple: there is no reason. The XBox 360 is, all in all, universally and undeniably, a superior system to the Playstation 3.

And is there an api/emulator available or do you have to pay Nintendo millions of dollars to have the privilege to write games on the wii? How about xbox 360/ps3?
