Wii Fit and weight loss possibilities – Part 2

Ever since I saw the Wii Fit advertised, I wanted one. I dreamed of getting a fabulous body while having fun. Of course, I begged my husband to get on board and we have been proud Wii Fit owners for the last 4 months. I must say that I am healthily addicted and it has been a great addition to my fitness life. I am more toned, more flexible, and my hubby is losing weight!

In case you are unfamiliar with the Wii Fit, it is an innovative new video game for the Nintendo Wii console. It features a balance board that measures your weight, body mass index (bmi), and center of balance. When you add a new Wii character, you are required to complete a "body test"; you enter in your height, your weight is measured, and the game calculates your bmi. Based on your bmi, you are classified as underweight, normal, overweight, or obese. The system logs your stats and lets you set a goal to reach: a specific bmi or weight before a specified date. Every time you use your Wii Fit, you earn a stamp on the calendar and a new dot on your graph. This helps you track your progress and stay motivated!

There are 4 types of exercises/games: yoga (my favourite), strength, balance, and aerobics. Some are much more strenuous while others are mainly fun. I have personally found the yoga exercises to have improved my balance, muscle tone, and flexibility! I have always been petite, so I don't use the Wii Fit for weight loss, but my hubby has lost 10 pounds in the last month using it. The aerobic and strength exercises definitely can get your heart rate up and help you lose weight. The hula hoops and "run" (you run on the spot) especially can be pretty challenging.

As with any exercise weight loss program, the key to losing weight on the Wii Fit is dedication. Obviously, the games are pretty fun, but you have to be willing to treat them as a legitimate workout. Be prepared to put as much effort and time into it as you would a fitness dvd or class. Also, make sure you focus on the aerobic and strength exercises. When you consider the cost of a gym membership, the Wii Fit is very reasonable by comparison (45 bucks a months vs. 100 bucks for the game). What I love about the Wii Fit is that I can do it in my own home, work out for as long or as little as I want, and I can easily track my progress. I also love feeling sore the next day and knowing that I actually worked out my muscles! If you are committed to have a great time and get in shape, I would definitely recommend a Wii Fit! Happy exercising!

Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 30

The Wii has completely revolutionized the way people interact with games. As you probably know by now, the Wii remote is physically used as the instrument in the game (the golf club while playing golf, the paddle while playing ping-pong and so on). Meaning no more having to think what buttons you need to push to obtain this or that movement, you just make the movement yourself while holding the remote and voila, the character on-screen does the same. So much easier, right? That's one of the very strong points of Wii, its ease of use, making it accessible even to young kids or older people. A console for the whole family as the commercial says.

Wii can also connect to the Internet and download games from there, the latest news or the daily forecast. Also you get to create your own alter ego (or alter egos) called a Mii. When you're connected to the 'net you have the option of sending your Mii to visit other people's consoles, and receive other people's Miis on your own. Oh, and you can also send messages from one Wii to another (also via Internet).

That's all good and nice but you know the main reason why I got a Wii? It makes you get up from the couch and move. It even has a fitness mode where it tests your reflexes and such and see how you've improved in time. I think that with certain games you're guaranteed to shed some calories and all by playing and having fun with your friends.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl cheats (Wii) – Part 1

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the third installment of the Super Smash Bros. series and is extremely popular for all ages. Made only for Nintendo platforms, these games bring together characters from many different Nintendo games to fight against one another. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, you can unlock 14 characters different from the 21 you start off with, as well as 12 stages, 2 modes, 4 difficulties of target test, 40 songs, 3 sets of stage builder parts, 5 free trials of classic games, more rules, more event matches, 5 stickers, 6 more assist trophies and 5 more sound tests. Well let's get started if we want to cover everything, buckle up.

Nintendo Wii Line @ Times Sq. -NY NY

Characters can be unlocked by playing X number of brawl matches OR by beating the Subspace Emissary (SSE) and then going back and fighting Jigglypuff in the swamp stage (or complete events 1-20 after beating the SSE), fighting Wolf in the ruins stage (or complete Boss Battle with Fox or Falco after beating the SSE) and fighting Toon Link in the forest stage (or finishing Classic mode after beating the SSE). Your best bet is to just complete the SSE and fulfilling the above conditions in parentheses, but if you really want them within a few hours, follow these steps.

1. Go to "Group" from the main menu and then to "Special Brawl"

2. For "Stamina", highlight "Stamina" instead of "Off". "Stamina" should turn from being grey to having red letters with a black background.

3. Go down to "Head" and highlight "Flower" instead of "Off" and click "OK!" at the bottom.

4. Choose a character for yourself and a computer.

5. On the right of the computer's character screen at the bottom, click on where it says "Stamina 150" and scroll up until you highlight "1" and press A, or press 2 if you just have a Wii Remote without a nunchuk.

6. Press A/2, you will choose "Random" since the cursor was there: it doesn't matter what stage you use.

7. When it says "GO!", it will instantly be followed with, "GAME!". You will see your opponent has died and has 0 HP left. Once you get back to the character selection screen, repeat the process 450 times. Notice above why I said within a few hours.

When it comes to the stages to be unlocked, you actually only have to do 9 tasks if you have every character. There are 8 new stages to obtain as well as 4 stages from Super Smash Bros. Melee, the previous installment in the Super Smash Bros. series to add to the Melee stages you start with. You can unlock:

-Flat Zone 2 when you unlock Mr.

wii boxing

Hi, well I would say that the Wii is a better game console, than play station 3. I think this because with using the Wii, your playing console games while excising. And considering the UK and USA are having extremely bad obese problems its another way of exercising - thats fun!

Trying to get an obese child to do exercise can be hard so if you give them a Wii they will be able to play games but with out realising keeping fit at the same time. The Wii fit has also now been invented which again is another big boost to keeping fit and healthy as it is like your own personal trainer. A good game is Wii sports, my reasons for this are it is a very fun addicting game but you get lots of exercise and it can be very energetic. The boxing game on Wii sports is a very good one because, you are getting lots of arm movement, also you do get very in to it and enjoy getting to the next level. You get to use both arms and have the feeling of boxing; difference is you don't actually get hurt. And if you think about it you can get basically the same style games on the Wii as you can play station 3, and at least with the Wii your arms are getting some extra movement. Another good quality about the Wii is that it isn't too much money, and well if you think about it your getting a fantastic game console, a way to help keep you fit and healthy, a thing to use with your friends, and finally its also just an enjoyable boredom breaker.

The problems with play station 3 is , yes Ok maybe it does have good graphics and has some good games, but all you do is sit there with your control pressing buttons , which is very lazy and i assume wouldn't be very good for your fingers if you do it all the time. I mean they have invented wireless controllers for play station 3 but what use is that if your not playing with them, then all they will do is get lost and then if you are playing with them, then you are obviously going to be in front of the screen so why do they need to be wireless? Its not like your going to be playing from a different room seen as you wont be able to see the screen !

Another good thing about the Wii is it is different! There are so many things like play station 3 out in the market now. There is play station 1 , play station 2 , xbox , xbox 360 and Nintendo family edition. But there is nothing like the Wii. To be honest , maybe your preference is play station 3 rather than the Wii , but all in all, I think the Wii has a lot more plus sides than the play station 3 has.

Thanks.

Is the lack of broadband connectivity really an issue for low

December 1, 2011 by Goldenchute · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Nintendo Wii

Although the Internet is a useful tool, a broadband connection is not a necessity, especially for the nation's lower income households. Using 56k dial-up or 112k ISDN, the vast majority of useful content on the Internet can still be accessed. Blogs, stock trading, shopping, e-mail, news, weather, forums, and on-line freelance writing websites can all be used with a non broadband modem with no problem. As long as low-income communities can access these key features, they won't be at a loss for Internet content.

In fact, there are only a couple of Internet activities that require a broadband connection, and none of them are preventing the country's poor from reaching the upper echelons of society:

1. 3D on-line gaming requires fast connection speeds to ensure instant communication and quick reflexes. This venue is largely irrelevant to the nation's lower wage-earners, since building a gaming computer costs thousands of dollars to begin with. Also, considering the number of offline games available for home cheaper home consoles like the Wii and XBox, on-line gaming is not exactly sorely missing from low income households.

2. High Definition Video streams can offer TV shows and other content, most of which can be purchased in stores or simply watched on television. These services are a luxury at best, just like twitch-action on-line gaming.

3. Torrent and Peer-to-peer file-shares allow computer users to share and download large files over the Internet. However, the majority of this activity is used to pirate software, movies, and games; the rest of the file-share bandwidth is used for pornography, and is also largely illegally pirated. If there's anything lower income communities need less, it's crime.

4. Just plain doing things faster: Broadband offers large speed increases of all Internet activity, but with the exception of the extravagant items listed above, this speed is not "necessary." Sure a blazing connection is nice, but there are tons of tools like FasterFox, Google Desktop, and various browser plug-ins that "cheat" one's browser into surfing the web faster, especially on narrow-band connections.

Taking advantage of many of these luxury services and buying the requisite equipment (such as 3D processors for gaming, or high-definition monitors to view the HD streaming video), are quite expensive. The last thing that those who have little wealth need to do is squander their funds on rapidly-depreciating computer accessories. These dollars would be better spent on college tuition, mortgage payments, or medical care.

So although broadband is a fun distraction, none of what it offers over dial-up should be a priority to the nation's economically disadvantaged. All of the "important" services available on the Internet can be accessed for next to nothing on a standard modem line. Everything else is either fluff, illegal, or expensive.

Top upcoming Nintendo Wii games – Part 1

The Wii has had a great year. It's dominating the market and only better can come. So what is next for that little white wonder console thats refusing to come to everyones homes?

#1-Mario Kart Wii

Yes I know its months off completion but how can you write on a Nintendo console without Mario Kart? It was the worlds worst kept secret up until E3 and since that first screen some intresting new info has popped up. The inclusion of bikes has been confirmed, but something that hasn't is the Jump Feather from the original SNES version. Some recently released screens have shown karters jumping large hights without any aid. It has not been confirmed, but do not be surprised by the inclusion if it comes to pass.

#2-Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Another Nintendo staple, Smash Bros. has been delivering constant updates through the Dojo website and one of the latest inclusions has pretty much blown everyones faces off. Literally, you no longer have a face. Sonic is in. Thats right, Marios largest rival, or at least largest rival as of 8 years ago (lets forget all that stuff that happened in between) is in. So for all you who have has restless nights dreaming of that fabled Sonic vs Mario battle, your prays have been well and truly answered.

3#-No More Heroes

Well this one is well and truly underwraps. Basically, what we know so far is the main characters name, the area he plays in, the fact that he has an awesome looking bike and an even awesomer looking sword, that he wants to kill lots of people and that one of the bosses has a missile launcher for a leg. All information that has been released is through small snippets of video from the creators, Goichi Suda, website. However, this has been named as the spiritual successor of the excellent but overlooked Gamecube title Killer7, so keep an eye on it.

4#-Star Wars: Force Unleashed

If you were disappointed by Lego Star Wars lack of real lightsaber movement then this should be one to snatch your interest. Said to be set somewhere between when Episode 3 finishes and Episode 4 begins, developer Krome Studios has promised full-on ish lightsaber movement. Recent information states that you will have only semi-control over the lightsaber, with scripted moves attatched to waggles of the remote, but its still one to keep an eye on.

5#-Wii Fit

Perhaps one of the most innovative titles set for the Wii, Wii fit is a game which is basically trying to reverse its main side effect-It will make you fit. Could this be the end to the timeless stereo-typing of gamers as basement dwelling, soda loving, 250 pound creatures of the dark? Will it lead to the eventual formation of a Nintendo SuperArmy of gamers who will take over the world in the name of Shigeru Miyamoto? Probably not. But it should be fun anyway.

Game reviews: Wii Sports – Part 1

Wii Sports was released in 2006 as a free game included when you brought a Nintendo Wii. It was intended as an easy to play game that anyone could pick up and play either on their own or with others. It is quite possibly the most easily recognisable Wii game around at the moment, with a large amount of new and old gamers having access to it.

The game allows you to use Miis, which have been created on the Wii console's Mii Channel, to play with as avatars, which gives the game a more personalised feel. There are five games on offer to play, each one is a simulation of a popular sport that everyone should recognise and know how to play even without instructions.

The five games are Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf and Boxing. Each game uses a combination of the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck, or just the Wii Remote of its own. The games are played in a similar way to real life, for example to play tennis the player will swing the Wii Remote like a tennis racket to hit the ball, the sensor bar will pick up the movement and relay the action on screen.

Each game can be played with multiple players; some can be played with only one Wii Remote between all the players, while others need at least two Wii Remotes to play successfully. Bowling and Golf are the only two which can be played as a four player game with only one Wii Remote, so long as the Wii Remote is passed around during play. The other three require the use of two controllers.

Each time the player completes a game they are rewarded with a certain number of points based on performance. These points raise the player's level and raise the difficulty of a game based on how well the player is doing. This is done gently with a smooth learning curve which increases difficulty gradually rather than abruptly.

There are special Training and Fitness modes available which allow the player to practise their skills and find out how fit they are by completing certain tests. The Training mode allows the player to practise playing the games and it focuses on improving player's accuracy and skill within each game by giving them different challenges to complete. The Fitness mode assesses how fit the player is by choosing three tests for the player to complete and then assessing the player's fitness level based on the results of the test. The Fitness test can only be taken once a day for each Mii.

Nintendo Wii Fit Bundle : a First Impression Review

October 28, 2011 by Goldenchute · 1 Comment
Filed under: Nintendo Wii

Well, I've finally decided to get it. A few days ago, I finally made the difficult decision of purchasing the Nintendo Wii Fit Bundle. Alright I admit it, it's not really that difficult because I got it at a real bargain. When I received the package in the mail, I couldn't contain my excitement. After all, the Nintendo Wii Fit is the latest innovative games and workout machine out in the market today!

What's In The Nintendo Wii Fit Bundle?

As I unpack my Nintendo Wii Fit bundle package anxiously, I notice that there are quite a number of items included. There's the Nintendo Wii game console, the Wii Fit Balance Board and a peripheral of accessories such as the console stand, remote for the games console, nunchuck, AV adapter & cables. Included with the balance board is a disc of software which contains activities or exercises such as the yoga, body balance, muscle building and aerobic exercises and routines.

My Wii game console also came with 5 Wii Sports games for Tennis, Bowling, Baseball, Golf and Boxing. Now, you'll need the Wii game console before you can make use of Wii Fit system. When I was first planning my purchase, I noticed that there were many packages selling at rock bottom prices all over the web. But beware, most of them don't include the Wii game console! You may end up paying more if you buy them separately. If you don't have the Wii game console, the more economic choice will be the Wii Fit bundle as retailers tend to package them at a more attractive price.

My Workout Experience On the Nintendo Wii Fit

After I setup the Wii Fit system, I started working out on it with a heart rate monitor strapped on my wrist. It took a while for me to get used to the menu navigation though frankly, they're pretty user friendly. It may take some time off the workout time but I'm sure that can be minimized once I get more familiar with the system.

What I've noticed was, some of the activities didn't gave me as good a workout as I expected. The soccer heading game was a disappointment and didn't even raise my heart rate above the minimum. And when I compared my statistics across activities such as the Yoga, Strength Training, Aerobic and Balance, the aerobic section stood out.

My favourite by far was the Hula Hoop game. As I tried to balance myself, keeping all the hoops in the air while catching some more, my heart beat was raised to 172bpm. Not only was it a good workout, it was pretty fun and enjoyable.

Perhaps you may be asking "So, do you think the Nintendo Wii Fit is a good way to lose weight?". Personally I don't think the Wii Fit can really help to lose much weight given the nature of the activities involved. Maybe a pound or two a week. But I'm sure they'll be quite effective in another department of your life.

Lifestyle and fun.

Safecracker is a Nintendo Wii Game That Will Exercise Your Brain

September 19, 2011 by Goldenchute · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Nintendo Wii

There has been quite a bit of buzz about the Nintendo Wii Fit which is exercise for your body. However, this home gaming console also offers some fabulous games that will exercise your mind. One of them is called SafeCracker. If you are determined to win the game without reviewing any of the cheats it is going to take you quite a while to accomplish this goal.

Make sure you have a memory card ready so you can save the word you have done. There is just no way you are going to complete this particular Wii game in one setting. It doesn’t matter if you have all day to do it either! Safecracker involves a mansion with 35 safes located in various locations throughout it.

If you love to solve puzzles and to play video games, then Safecracker for the Nintendo Wii may be just what you are looking for. You can move it along at a pace you are comfortable with. This game is going to be challenging though and it is going to exercise your mind. However, it will also provide you with hours of fun in a way you may not have experienced before with any video game you have played.

Nintendo Wii Line @ Times Sq. -NY NY

There are several levels for Safecracker so you can start out with the easier ones and work your way up. Make sure you read the directions though for all of the tips you can get. You don’t want to miss out on important clues throughout the game. Nintendo is keeping quite a lid on what the screens will be like for the game. What is known is that there will be tons of rooms in the mansion to go through.

It is highly anticipated that consumers will be extremely happy with this game though. In fact it is one of the most anticipated games for the end of 2008. This game is geared more for the adult age groups even though it will likely have a rating of E for Everyone. This is due to the fact that it won’t have any violence or other factors that can warrant a stricter rating.

The game of Safecracker itself isn’t new, just to the Nintendo world. So if you want to get a head start you can take a look around online to see what it is all about. You are encouraged though to stay away from the cheats for now. That can take some of the fun and excitement out of the game. It is recommended that you try it all on your own first. Of course not all consumers will feel this way and so that is a personal decision for you to make.

The anticipation for this particular game is already at a huge height. It won’t be offered by Nintendo until October of 2008. This means when the weather turns colder you can snuggle up inside and play the game. Maybe the fact that the snow is falling outside and it is dark so early won’t bother you as much when you have something else to focus on. Playing video games on the Wii can help you occupy your time until the warmer weather comes along and you can spend more time outside.

The estimated purchase price for the game is about $30 and it should be a very good investment. If you enjoy playing games and figuring out puzzles then Safecracker can be a very interesting game for you to play on the Wii. It certainly isn’t a game for those that want fast action and fast results though. This is a slower paced game for someone with some patience and plenty of logic. If you have played Safecracker on other gaming consoles than chances are you are eagerly awaiting the arrival of it for the Nintendo Wii. The time will go by faster than you think though as October is just around the corner.

People have always said to me what would you rather have a PS3 or a Nintendo Wii and i always have to think for a minute but i always end up saying the Wii. Seeing as i have both and have extensively played both of them , the Wii is better and is a magical piece of Gaming technology and has some Incredible Games. But the PS3 will always have more people buying it because the ps3 has just been awaited for , for so long and it is a lot more well known around the world. But the Simple Matter is the Wii is a better Gaming Console and is more Family Freindly. On the other hand the PS3 is a magnificent Console for men and Women alike and is the most advanced of its kind in internet Gaming and the Games on it are too good too describe. So the PS3 is a brilliant Console and you can talk to people on it during games and the Internet browser is as good as on a Computer . I suppose you can get updates on a PS3 and you can't get them on a Wii . If you want an all out Gaming system you would have a PS3 but if you wanted something exclusive and cool you would go for the Wii. And the New Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is an un-real game and all my friends bought it.

Now the Wii has special sensors specially developed by nintendo and they Were at it for ages. The Wii can be played online but its not as good as the PS3. And the Wii can be played better in a Family and it's cheaper than than the PS3 . The Fact is that the PS3 is not better than the Wii the Wii is better . Um sorry about this but this is my first Article and i can't think of anything else so i will have to extend it by saying alot of stuff that does not make a bit of sense at all . Liverpool Football Club are the best and are always the best in FIFA Games and Up the Deise......................... .............................. .............................. .............................. .............................. .............................. .............................. .............................. .............................. .............................. ......... my favourite game ever is Gran Turismo5 Prologue and if anyone has it can they send me a comment at DylanC2k8@hotmail.com for cheats Because it really is a Brilliant Game.......................... .............................. .............................. .............................. ..........

Wii Fit and weight loss possibilities – Part 1

Since the initial announcement, Wii Fit has created an enormous buzz throughout entertainment and media. It is considered the first of its kind, a video game designed to help you lose weight and it is focused on this task by having you take part in a series of balance, aerobic and muscle exercises. You will also have access to twelve different Yoga poses, some more strenuous than others.

The majority of these exercises are performed on the Wii Balance Board, a device which is sensitive to both pressure and position. When the game starts, an on screen avatar will ask you to stand on the board to measure your Body Mass Index (BMI), which is based on age, height and weight. Once you've been measured, the game will tell you if you are underweight, ideal, overweight or obese based on the information it has received. It will even tell you which leg you tend to favor, based on how much you've moved during the measuring period!

You can set yourself a goal for how much weight you'd like to lose or gain, and the period of time you'd like to reach that target. The game will then create a graph from the starting point and show how you've developed over time, occasionally commenting on your progress and whether it is happy with how you're getting on.

But, the burning question is does it work?

Based on my own experience with Wii Fit, I have lost weight.

After firing the game up on Friday April 25th, and measuring my own BMI, I was told that I am ever so slightly overweight. This came as a slight surprise to me. I do not regularly workout, nor am I particularly careful with what I eat, but I do know my limits, and do try to keep active in some shape or form. Nonetheless, the game did inspire me to do more and I plunged right in, taking care to pick something from each category which suited both my strengths and weaknesses. By Monday morning, I'd lost four pounds.

Nintendo stress that Wii Fit will not help you to lose weight by itself, and that independent dieting, and activity are also essential. But they encourage you to give it a try as it can definitely help! After my time spent with Wii Fit, I can certainly re-enforce their claim.

For me, this game has also served as an introduction to Yoga. I've heard so many wonderful things on Yoga and how it has helped people with their posture, flexibility and overall relaxation, but I'd never much credited it. After playing this game, it has not only given me further interest, but I find it is the exercise I do predominantly over all others. I can even feel slight changes to my movements and less strain on certain parts of my body than before.

But aside from Yoga, the game does cater for all types of weight and fitness, giving something for everyone. Included in the activities are press-ups, hula-hooping, lunges, shadow boxing and island jogging. There is even the opportunity to go ski-jumping!

The package isn't cheap at 69.99 (An additional 179.99 if you do not own a Nintendo Wii), but with that purchase comes a personal virtual trainer that is as committed to helping you lose weight, as you are. While it is certainly not the last word in fitness, Wii Fit is a great motivational tool that can sow the seeds to a richer, healthier existence and comes highly recommended.

Personal fitness 2009: Trends, equipment, new directions

The trend in personal fitness for this year seems to stem from video games. Yes, you read that correctly. Video games once associated with couch potatoes, have been given a physical fitness makeover. The genius corporation behind this cutting edge technology is none other than, Nintendo. Nintendo is a Japanese company. The Japanese are known for being very health conscious people. And they have figured a way to get the public off the couch and into shape while being hip and fun.

Nintendo Wii Game System

This game system is nothing like the original Nintendo. It is very physical. Wii video games such as tennis, bowling, and fishing will actually make your whole body sore. Picture if you will, a video game that requires physical force in order to achieve success. When you play baseball, you actually play baseball. Okay so maybe you don't have to run the bases, but you definately have to maneuver your arms as though you were hitting an actual baseball. Try playing Wii Sports for a whole hour. What a workout. You will build muscle in such a new and fun way. This system sells for $249.99 plus tax and is available nationwide.

Wii Fit package

Nintendo Wii Fit Balance Board

The Nintendo Wii Fit Balance Board is quite affordable. It is priced at $89.99 plus tax. This product can be found at a wide range of stores across the country. However, due to it's popularity, it seems to sell out quite fast. In order to use the Wii Fit, you must own a Nintendo Wii system. If you compare the price of owning a Nintendo Wii system and the Wii Fit to having a gym membership or owning an Elliptical Machine or Treadmill, you actually save money. The Wii Fit Balance Board includes all of the necessary equipment to begin your workout regime. This includes a personal trainer. Imagine having your own virtual personal trainer right there in your living room. It sounds like something only the rich and famous can afford.

Nintendo Wii Fit Fitness Programs

The Wii Fit Balance Board includes it's very own fitness program. The activities and workouts in the original program include balance games, yoga, aerobics, and strength training. You can ski, hoola hoop, or even walk the tight rope. There are 40 activities to choose from. It's not only fun for all ages, but it's exercise too. You can have your cake and eat it too; as exercise has never been thought of as fun before. This physical fitness trend is definately family friendly. Not only can mom or dad do it, but so can grandma and grandpa. My husband and

Playing video games is to be fun and so most people don’t associate safety with it. Yet the makers of the Nintendo Wii have issued some safety warnings for their products. It doesn’t mean they at they are a threat to the well being of those playing such games. However, Nintendo does want to be responsible and let the various safety concerns be known. That way both children and adults can benefit from what is has to offer as much as possible.

Research has shown that a small percentage of the population can experience seizures due to playing various types of video games. This is due to the combination of the graphics that flash on the screen in front of them. This can occur very suddenly even for individuals who have always seemed to be very healthy. It doesn’t matter how old the individual is either.

It is believed these are most likely to occur when the individual is sitting very close to the TV screen. It is also more common when a big screen TV is being used instead of a smaller one. Try to move as far back from the screen as possible while playing. Sitting there for hours can also trigger these seizures to occur as well. Limit the time that children are exposed to them without a break.

There are also some other types of health concerns to watch out for. Even if the individual doesn’t have a seizure they may be affected from the exposure. Severe headaches, twitching eyes, blurred vision, and convulsions should all be taken very seriously. If you are prone to motion sickness you may experience similar feelings playing the Nintendo Wii due to the rapid movements on the screen with some games.

Some people spend hours and hours each day playing the Nintendo Wii games. There is no doubt they can become quite addictive due to the fun and the challenges that they offer. However, there are plenty of motions that have to be repeated again and again in order to play these games for such long periods of time. This can result in pain in the fingers, hands, and wrists.

These problems can be avoided by limiting the amount of time a person plays the Nintendo Wii each day. Some people will experience early warning signs including numbness in these areas or burning sensations. It is best to stop playing at that time and take a very long break so that it doesn’t persist.

While many of the games for the Nintendo Wii are interactive, you need to survey your area first. You need to make sure you have sufficient room to complete the movements. You don’t want to injure yourself by bumping into objects or other people. Make sure your movements won’t cause anything to fall off of shelves or the walls onto you either.

Individuals who participate in such interactive Wii games need to make sure they are physically fit enough to do so. A person can easily pull a muscle or cause other harm if they aren’t ready for particular movements. Stretching before and after engaging in these games can also help to reduce the risk of injuries. Those with heart problems need to ask their doctor before they participate in these types of games.

For the most part you will find playing the Nintendo Wii to be fun and not a problem at all. However, it is very important to be aware of the various safety issues that could present themselves. Limiting the amount of time a person plays such games at one time seems to be a very good way to prevent many of them from happening.

If problems due occur make sure you seek medical attention. These problems that arise while playing the Nintendo Wii could be an early warning of a more severe medical condition. A full assessment by a medical professional can help to ensure it is kept under control.

Perspectives on game consoles

The Xbox 360 has been a very dominant force in the next generation of gaming consoles. More power than the lovable Nintendo Wii, more affordable than the Playstation 3, and a competitive games list make it a no brainier to own. I do believe that from the launch to the announcement of the "Xbox 360 Elite" that there a few thing they would have thought through better.

Beyond the price of the now three systems, I think that is the first flaw. It was bad enough to have two systems but three. I believe that the Premium unit should replace the core unit due to the direction in Xbox/Windows Live and digital distribution. The price point should be dropped by the Christmas shopping season to at leased match the current core and premium consoles.

In all the improvements, Microsoft forgot one thing. They need to expand to gamers like Nintendo did with the Wii. They made a system that seemed affordable compared to the original launch of the Playstation 2 and Xbox but lost potential customers that are on a budget. It is not fare to assume that if the product is great they will buy it. Full backwards compatibility on both machines would have given the incentive for people that can barely purchase the core system a chance to make a quicker decision on having an Xbox 360 and a bargain bin game from a used video game store. What is the point of have a system with no game? The system usually is the most expensive purchase in gaming. Saving up for a game is easier. If it were me, I would not want my customers to second guess the purchase of price of system and game unless it is included like the Wii with "Wii Sports".

Memory is a problem that I do not think was thought through well enough. It is starting to look like an after thought. I can over look the old memory cards not begin compatible with the new system but with the way the media is being used from day one of the 360's life storage problems were obvious to happen. The future was supposed to be Xbox Marketplace. Download this and that with only a 20GB hard drive, if you have one. This unit needed a 60GB hard drive at least. Microsoft may have been able to go a little smaller if the memory cards used a more universal source. The use of secure digital media cards over traditionally small sized memory cards was big mistake. Transfer of data like pictures and music would have been a lot easier and like the Wii and PS3 have adopted. Saves and backup storage would have been no problem. Memory cards seem to be constantly growing in size to fit the demand of the users.

On the plus, this system has a killer lineup of games only almost matched by the Wii and reminiscent of the PS2. The graphics and awesome with or without an HDMI port and has me wishing I was still gaming like a teenager.

Wii Fit and weight loss possibilities – Part 3

August 15, 2011 by Goldenchute · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Nintendo Wii

Any one that owns a Wii knows that it is a very physical gaming console. There are few games that require no movement, and even with those you are not merely sitting with your fingers pressing buttons. The Nintendo Wii is not your classic video game system. Without the Wii Fit platform, you will find yourself jumping, boxing, flailing your arms about (and hitting your nephew in the head in the process...), and moving quite erratically. But, it is extremely fun. Thus, when you do advance to the Wii fit, you assume that you are already prepared for the extreme physical endurance that is expected with the fitness craze. Now, swinging a Wii remote like a tennis racket is one thing, but bending and stretching your body like a pretzel while trying to keep your balance as the board measures your center of balance is an entirely different thing altogether. This thing is not for the faint of heart.

I had been looking for one for months (for they are usually sold out and on back order at nearly every retail outlet that you visit), so when I finally found it, i snatched it up rather quickly. That was a week ago, and I have already used it eight times. I am addicted. Even when I stood on the board to register and configure my wii fit age, and my BMI (Body Mass Index), and my Wii fit deemed me obese (yes, obese, it was quite a blow...) I was thinking about how amazing and fun the little machine was. I am not a person that engages in alot of physical activity. I am busy with a full time job, and full time college courses, so when I get a chance to relax, I tend to enjoy it. Now, all I want to do is play the Wii fit! It is so fun, and it gives me such a workout that I actually feel rewarded after playing my video games for hours. Half dead, but rewarded.

There are several reasons that I think that the Wii fit holds great potential for losing weight. First of all, it keeps a record of the amount of time that you use it. You can see how many minutes that you have done each time that you use it, and there is a graph that shows you how you have progressed (or haven't progressed in some cases). It records your weight, your BMI, and your balance. Secondly, the wii fit tells you how you have done each exercise. It measures how you distribute your weight when you are doing yoga poses, and it also measures your ability to maintain your posture and your balance. While performing some activities, it actually shows you a circle or rectangles that measure your movements so that you

Humor: Always wear your Wii remote wrist strap! – Part 2

We were very pleased and excited when we purchased our Nintendo Wii . We couldn't wait to get home and open the box and explore all the wonder and fun that is the Wii . When I say "We", I mean my husband, who is a far more enthusiastic game fan than myself.

He finally gets the box open and tosses away the instructions like any typical man would do and proceeded plug in his new Wii into his brand new flat screen high definition television. It was going to be absolutely awesome and beyond anything he'd ever done before.

I suppose when he saw the controller and decided it needed batteries he either overlooked the wrist strap or just thought it was for hanging on the wall for later use. He was gearing up for his first Wii fitness test that is included on the Wii Sports game that comes with the console. We were about to reveal his real age through baseball, tennis, and bowling. Baseball was a blast and he managed to hit more than the balls pitched to him. Tennis was just fantastic in the way that it resembled real life tennis. He hit ball after ball, all the while the wrist strap flying in the wind. Finally, it was time to bowl. After a couple of strikes I think he began to get more and more excited because he kept throwing the "ball" harder and harder. At last, the inevitable happened. The remote flew out of his hand and right into the top of his new TV. There was a nice scratch on the top of the screen and a lovely dent on top of the TV. I couldn't believe it. I yelled at him "WHY do you think it comes with a wrist strap? NOW you get to play on a damaged television!"

EA Active (Wii) - Day 6 - 6

Well, that all blew over and the next day I decided to play and see for myself how old this Wii thought I was judging by my athletic skills. I stood in front of the TV (which we got rid of the scratch, by the way) with the fan blowing a cool breeze behind me. It was fun I must say. I made it all the way to bowling and after a few rolls of the ball I dropped the controller due to failure to wear my wrist strap. The controller made it all the way to the ground and my fingers made it all the way to the fan. I was terrified to look at my hand because I just KNEW I had sliced my fingers. Luckily I escaped with all of my digits, and from then on we both decided we would wear our wrist straps no matter how goofy we felt doing it.

It is always important to wear your wrist strap while playing the Wii for your safety, the safety of others, and the safety of anything else in your house!

A survivalist horror game from Capcom, this game is on the MT framework with Havok Physics engine for the XBOX 360 and the Resident Evil 4 engine on the Wii. It was released late in 2006 and is a single player only game. It is rated M for Mature by the ESRB for some of the violence and gore. There are quite a few keys that can be downloaded for the XBOX 360 with the marketplace interface, so long as the gamer has registered the console to get a silver membership. Getting downloads from the marketplace to the XBOX console are quick and easy, you'll need to remember to log in to your account to do so and then scroll through the "games" titles to find "Dead Rising", then you can download these keys. These are all the free keys that can downloaded and get different outfits in the game.

Gaming – It’s not All Bad

According to recent studies as well as long-held beliefs by gamers, playing video games can bring mental and physical benefits. The games industry is very big and, as fears of the economy slowing down and the potential of recession ahead it remains buoyant with record sales of software and 'next generation' consoles.

Fundamentally the games industry is growing as it is because as a source of entertainment is it fun, absorbing, value for money and imparts a sense of achievement as well as, recently with online gaming, community and teamwork.  Now however you can add to this possible health and brain benefits, from problem solving, concentration, stress relief to visual and sight training.  The mass appeal of the DS and Wii is taking games, specifically "educational" or "training" titles, to a new demographic of people previously untouched by any of the big gaming companies.

Video games can help to improve both the movement and capabilities of your eyes.  Besides the release of a specific sight training game on the Nintendo DS playing certain types of games, especially action games, push a player’s eyes beyond what they would normally go through and the brain as a consequence adapts to it and improves.  Constant movements of the eyes and picking up on the small movements and subtle changes in pace and direction often seen in games effectively gives your eyes a work out.  Potentially this could mean that visual defects and injuries could be treated with specially designed games.

Mentally there are also other benefits of a few hours gaming a week.  As a stress busting method games have been proven in studies to help students during revision periods by taking their mind away from studying and giving them a few minutes of needed relaxation, enabling them to concentrate better and work harder during the periods that they are working. In a similar way, games act as means of escapism, allowing everyone to leave the real world behind them for a few minutes a day, helping to relieve stress and boredom, thus improving an individual’s mental health.

So as the games market gets bigger and makes record amounts of money what are the benefits to you and I of spending our free time playing video games?  As mentioned above it is a fairly new phenomenon for the current generation of gaming consoles to release mass-appeal educational titles, such as the famous Brain Training games and Big Brain Academy Games.  The educational benefits of these games are clear to be seen by anyone who has played them, with faster brain activity and memory seeing marked improvements.  Add to this the physical benefits of the new Wii games such as Wii sports and the new Wii Fit and there is the potential for a full mind and body work out in your living room.

So gaming, far from being a source of ill health and injury can help to give your whole mind, body and eyes a work out.  To take advantage of games’ interactive abilities to impart both knowledge and health we have already seen specific titles like Wii Fit, Sign Training and Brain Training, so far all pioneered by Nintendo, and we will probably see more titles like this released in the future.

Are video games good or bad for teens?

July 13, 2011 by Goldenchute · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Nintendo Wii

Video games are great for teens, regardless of any of the simple and unrefined 'arguments' that are fired from the noisy and violent mouth holes of the anti-video game crowd. After all, the only way to argue against the benefits of video gaming are to conjure up vague generalities about the average player's habits, or completely misrepresent(or wildly misunderstand)the complexities of addiction.

So, for the purpose of time, destroy these clichd and under-thought argumentative abortions quickly so that I may move on to the positives of the video game.

Firstly, video games are not cause of addiction, but rather the symptom of more hidden and intricate problems. Therefore, people don't play video games excessively because video games are unnaturally addictive. Rather people self-medicate with video games to excess because they have serious emotional problems. So it follows that video games are no more to blame for addiction, than thin and beautiful women are to blame for anorexia in young girls. Blaming video game addiction on video games themselves is so terribly dangerious and irresponsible exactly because the real issues and the real problems are allowed to pass through and fester into more dangerous problems.

I'm not worried about video games, I'm worried about ill informed social critics who don't do their homework.

In any case, regardless of the what the ignorant protest, video games are great for teens.

Firstly, video are incredibly educational. There's a variety of games that can teach players about music and languages and history. Furthermore, manipulating the 3D objects in video games builds the kind of intelligence and thinking that applies to the study of engineering. It's no coincidence that many University Engineering faculties are filled with young video game players.

Furthermore, video games are quickly becoming more and more physically demanding. Older games like Dance Dance Revolution and even the newer Nintendo Wii system, and Wii Fit accessory require intense physical activity and will even coach players toward physical fitness. Video games have clearly become one of many solutions to the West's weight epidemic.

And finally, video game programming is becoming more and more accessible, and your average teenager can apply these skills to the real world job market. That's right, an interest in video games could land your teenager some good money.

Are video games good for teens? Absolutely.

Video game reviews: SSX Blur (WII)

SSX Blur is the fifth incarnation of the classic snowboarding series from Electronic Arts (EA). Previous versions on other consoles such as the PS2 and Xbox were huge successes thanks to their extravagant graphics, pulsating soundtrack, vast array of tricks, challenges and extras and great modes of play such as Career and Multi-player. With the Wii version, EA have seen fit to radically overhaul the control system, so much so that it seems the Wii's revolutionary controllers have been invented solely for the purpose of playing this game. They're not of course but the Wii's nunchuck and wii-mote fit this style of game perfectly.

Playing PS2 or Xbox games on the type of controller that comes with those systems, a lot of players tend to move the controller as well in an effort to turn the skier around an almost-impossible corner (well, I did anyway). It's almost a sub-conscious reaction on the part of the player to do this but obviously it would never affect the gameplay. Now, due to the accelerometers within the nunchuck and wii-mote, these subconscious movements are now translated into movement of the character on screen and it's a great system. Carving left and right in the snow is achieved by tilting the nunchuck left or right and it's an enormously satisfying feeling. To perform tighter turns, the left thumb joystick comes into play and by using a combination of the two actions, moving your character feels natural and intuitive. For those who have played the PS2 or Xbox versions, converting to this new system should present no problems at all - I certainly picked it up pretty quickly. For newcomers to the series, it may prove to be more of a challenge. Mastering it however, is another kettle of fish.

Interestingly, buried within the options screens, there are settings that allow you to customize how the controllers react and work. You may have a bias towards using the thumbstick as per the PS2 and you can change this more to your suiting. The tutorial section, so often ignored by head-strong gamers, is highly recommended here. An hour or two spent completing the tutorials will pay dividends later and stand you in good stead for some of the more crazy tricks and challenges.

Performing tricks is an essential element of any of the SSX games and Blur is no different. When approaching a ramp or snowy-knoll, hold down 'A' and as you launch off the edge, release 'A' then by moving the wii-mote sideways or up and down, your character either spins around or

We here at 108 Red Stitches are scratching our heads in wonder; "Why no updates from 2K Sports on their latest video game title?"

December 8, 2007 was the last update to their site. Refreshing hundreds of times on their landing page, we only get "Image Coming Soon" and "Video Coming Soon" banners.

There's no sneak previews, no screen shots, no hints as to what's coming next. The only info on the game is what's posted in the press release section, announcing Jose Reyes as the next cover boy for the series.

So we thought we could make some predicitions to help you guys out. We know you're looking for MLB 2K8, the folks at FeedBurner are telling us so.

108 Red Stitches Predictions for MLB 2K8:

1. Improved Injury Reporting System: Now, along with missing five games due to a pulled hammy, players can be suspended for use of PEDs. (XBox Cheat Code for administering Flaxseed Oil is - Left Trigger, A, A, Right Trigger, Left Stick Click.)

2. Build Your Own Stadium: EA Sports managed to work that into their system before the series died, now 2KSports has acquired that knowledge. Design every last detail, including the height of your bullpen walls to keep guys like Karim Garcia from going after the fans.

3. Design A Player: Function is improved to include adding custom designed jewelry, grill plates, and add custom designed felonies.

4. Sell Google Adspace On Your Outfield Walls: Just enter your Adsense Account ID and Paypal info into the correct fields, and within minutes, Johnny Damon will be crashing into a Penile Enhancement Ad.

5. Real Time Player Interaction: Is your XBox system running slow or are your Wii Remote Batteries waining? Well, Jose Reyes is designed to run as fast (or slow) as your system prohibits. Want to make sure he runs out that ground ball? Make sure you use Lithium Batteries in your wireless controller!

6. Special Mini Games: Unlock hidden mini games such as BeJuiced or Pin the Tail on the Boras. See how much HGH you can inject into Barry Bonds (excuse me, John Dowd, because Bonds is too good for the Players Union) before he gets caught by that pesky Mitchell guy!

7. Create a Team Function: Draft hidden talent, farm Major League Super Stars, and then trade them away to cut costs, the Jeffrey Loria way!

8. New Bench Coach Mode: Watch the entire game from the bench. There's no real reason for you to be playing in this mode, because you only get to play for whatever team Joe Torre is coaching, and you only get to make one suggestion per game. It usually gets ignored.

9. Superstar Mode: Follow a player through his college life, the amateur draft, the minor leagues, his three weeks in the majors, and then retire and run a car dealership until Ken Burns contacts you to make a documentary on baseball.

10. User Generated Feature: Because We're All Out of Ideas. So 2KSports is letting you, the gamer, handle all of our important PR, development, and strategic decisions from now on. We're washing our hands of all this.

Hey it worked for Doritos.

Why Use Game Cheats On The Nintendo Wii?

May 29, 2011 by Goldenchute · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Nintendo Wii

As more and more games are released on the Nintendo Wii and the popularity of the console increases significantly, the number of game cheat codes we see available also increases. However, should game cheats be seen a bad or good thing? Let's examine the main reasons why gamers use game cheats for the Nintendo Wii, so that you can decide for yourself if you should use them or not.

Nintendo created the Wii console for an audience that was growing increasingly alienated by the difficult game play and complexity of many of newer breed of video and computer games. More and more often, new games have turned into film like sequences where player's can only follow fixed paths and perform limited tasks. Although often beautiful looking, these video games lose much of the entertainment, skill, and fun that was evident in traditional style games.

What computer and video game producers saw as the latest state of the art games, others saw as a huge step backwards in game play and interactivity. The Nintendo Wii was specifically designed to solve these constraints by bringing fun and interactivity back in to the gaming market. They actually took this interactivity to a level that had never been seen before and have attracted a whole new breed of gamers.

Never before had gamers been so involved in the game play, and for the first time people actually had to get off their sofas to play their video games. The Wii has revolutionized the world of computer and video gaming. However, it was inevitable that this new revolution would soon get bombarded by Wii cheat codes for anyone that wanted them.

So what are game cheats for Wii?

Game cheats are special sequences of codes that you can get off the Internet, or from gaming magazines. You can then enter the codes into your Wii console. These codes then allow you to gain special abilities within a game, or even bypass certain sections or levels of a game altogether.

Why game cheats can be a bad thing

Wii cheat codes can take much of the fun out of Wii games. This is because the gamer will miss the whole purpose of what it means to play games the way they are meant to be played. Games on a Wii are based upon interaction between the player and the game, so using cheats to try and get an false advantage just so you can finish a game faster is something that true game players should not ever do. It can ruin a game and takes most of the entertainment and challenge out of it. If you abuse Wii game cheats for this purpose then you will miss out on many skills and challenges that Nintendo designed the Wii to do. Not only that, but video games can be expensive so cheating to finish a game sooner is wasting your hard earned cash.

When are game cheats good?

All gamers at some point have been stuck on a level of game that they just cannot get past. You may only be half way through the game and no matter how hard you try you just cannot get to next stage. In these occasions, a game cheat can assist you to finish the level before carrying on without using the cheat, therefore allowing you to get much more game play than otherwise possible.

Think before you cheat!

Wii video games are designed with player interaction in mind, so cheating to get an unfair advantage is kind of missing the point. It really makes no sense to start punching in cheat codes just for the sake of it, because by removing the skill and interaction from a game you have nothing left.

It's best to avoid using cheat codes on the Wii if you can, but every now and again it's worth using a code if you get really stuck and just need a bit of help with a tricky level or baddie. Cheating just because you can takes all the fun away!

How to make time for your workout

Why is it so hard to make time for exercise? Is it because we are lazy, or just don't care? Absolutely not! In this day and age, we work weird shifts, care for our families and try to run a household all in a days work. Our time is simply scheduled around other people, we run the risk of losing that "me" time.

Of course exercise is important, there's no denying it. It is not only beneficial for the body but it is also a spiritual booster, a time for self reflection. So I ask yet again why do we neglect ourselves? It is a matter of discipline.

Isn't it funny that we wake up to alarm bells, follow daily planners and mark off the days of the calendar for the benefit of other individuals weekly rituals and special events; yet when it comes to our selves we fail to pencil in some free time. The experts say thirty minutes a day is sufficient amount of time to devote to exercise. When you think about it that is actually not a lot of time, considering how much time is served pleasing the boss or meeting family obligations. I think maybe we should re-examine the whole to do list. How hard could it be to actually add in a thirty minute routine?

If thirty minutes seems like a long time, why not break it down to two fifteen minute work outs. For instance you can start off your day with a fifteen minute stretch and fifteen minute walk at lunch.

There is a concept that exercise must be tedious and boring. Not everyone is inclined to work the tread mill or a rowing machine at the gym. I got to say it, it really does take a special determination to turn your mind off and push your body to extremes. Just the word "exercise" can send shivers down the average person's spine. That is why we need to find things we actually like to do to keep active. There are all kinds of different activities you can incorporate into your lifestyle, everything from gardening, evening walks, dancing, swimming, biking, and even games on the Nintendo wii are regarded exercise. Why not make it a family adventure? People are more motivated when they work in groups and are more likely to stick to their goals.

When people say they have no time for exercise, just remember they are the ones who really cheating themselves. It's not about having no time, it is about making it.

Which Nintendo Wii Sports Pack Should You Buy?

Nintendo Wii Sports Packs – Which one should you buy?

Nintendo have not yet produced their own, so there are loads of third party manufacturers out there competing for the top slot and space in retail stores and online.

I personally think there are too many and the high street retailers and online stores have overwhelmed and confused us all. I am about to unravel the mass of packs and give you two I would pick.

PDP NERF Nintendo Wii Sports Pak

As the title suggests this is another NERF product from PDP to compliment their DS Lite Case & Stylus. This set is very different to anything else out there in terms of look and obviously the feel. There has been a lot of press about Wii gamers smashing TV’s and lights…I wish I had this before my mate smashed my light, but that’s another story! So the launch of NERF Sports Pack has been well received for many reasons. The pack includes a tennis racket, baseball bat and golf club. At £19.99 I would recommend this to anyone, but more for Children who tend to be more animated and hit everything around them. Although some Wii novices would be advised to buy them!

Blaze 6 in 1 Nintendo Wii Accessory Pack

There are a few on the market and this is where extra caution is required, before you spend your hard earned money on an accessory pack think about it. 6 in 1 packs are great because you get a lot for your money, but what about the quality? I would avoid any pack over this, I saw a 15 in 1 recently and the quality was dreadful. The Blaze 6 in 1 pack contains; steering wheel, baseball bat, tennis racket, golf club, controller silicon skin and wrist straps. They would do well to change the pack to; 2 x steering wheels, 2 x tennis rackets, 1 x golf club and 1 x baseball bat. Lose the skin and wrist straps. However do not be deterred as this is still great value. One advantage with Blaze is they come with Xploder Cheat Saves as added value. With a £14.99 retail price you won’t go far wrong with this set.

Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 25

February 24, 2011 by Goldenchute · Leave a Comment
Filed under: video games

Overall i think the Nintendo Wii is better then the Playstation 3, mainly because of the innovation and originality involved. The Nintendo consoles f late have been seen generally geared towards younger players, whereas the playstations have been seen as aimed towards older teenagers due to more graphic and adult games, as well as darker color schemes that lent better towards dramatic and more mature games. The Nintendo consoles have been generally had more brightly colored graphics, which of course encouraged more childish and younger aimed games.

The Wii again has aimed more for this market, where the playstation has again aimed for more mature audiences.

This would normally have made the playstation better because of better graphics and a greater range of titles available, however the Wii is much more innovative as it encourages group play better, as well as making people be more active whilst playing the games. With the obesity epidemic these days, (which is often blamed on children playing video games too much and not getting enough exercise) the Wii seems to have the answer, rather than stopping children doing what they enjoy, it blends activity with gameplay.

Also the Wii has dared to take a risk by trying something different rather than in-keeping with the usual formula with familiar controllers, inactive gameplay, and relying on familiar titles to achieve sales.

This is why the Wii has the edge over the playstation 3 in my opinion, as well as the fact that it is less than half the price of the best PS3.

Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 6

Wii all the way. For a start, take a look at the price difference. You could feasibly get an Xbox 360 and a Wii for the price of one PS3. Now let's look at the games. Good PS3 games? Resistance. That's it. Good Wii games? Wii Sports, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime, Mario & Sonic, Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit,and many more.

Now let's take a look at the way the systems interact with the players. The PS3 has a controller based on the PS1 controller which was released in 1994, and Sony still think it can hold up today? It doesn't even have rumble. I would say that the one decent thing about the PS3 controller is the motion detecting but that is cheap, clunky, and to be honest pathetic. The Wii pretty much destroys every controller ever made. For a start, let's look at the basic Wii remote, none of the attachments, just the remote. It not only has tilt controls far more advanced that the PS3, but it also has Pointer technology, rumble, and a fantastic port at the bottom of it that can be used for pretty much anything developers can dream up. With this controller we can play incredibly immersive games, and also use the Wii's in built channel system to download games, browse the net (including full Myspace and Youtube compatibility), edit images, check todays news and weather forecasts and more. That's just with the core controller. So what about the extension socket I mentioned earlier? Well firstly, some people might say the remote is too simple for complex FPS shooters and adventures games, but with the Nunchuck extension, that theory is obliterated, with Metroid Prime 3 being described by IGN (the internet's most respected video game reviewers) as "the best controlled console FPS ever".

For people not yet converted to the Wii's simple yet advanced control method, there is also the Classic Controller, which is perfectly designed and brilliant for playing Gamecube games and downloadable games. Then there's the lightgun, turning your TV screen into an arcade shooter machine, and the Wii Fit board. The board is currently only being used for an ingenius workout game, where one weighs themselves, does pressups, does basic balance exercises and yoga stretches on the board, but in the future it could also be used for dancemat games, skateboarding and snowboarding games, and other things we can't even imagine.

I've spent all this time discussing just the controls, without even touching on the Wii's ability to appeal to hardcore gamers, young children, old people, and basically, everybody. Whether you've had every console ever made or have never played a video game, either way you can enjoy the Wii, and with fast internet browsing that matches most high end PCs, for only 180 how can you say no? i also didn't mention the Wii's built in wireless abilities, which are just as effective as the Xbox 360's, except for the latter you are expected to pay 100 dollars for an external transmitter.

Wow I could keep typing all night but I won't bore you with that, basically Nintendo Wii is a fantasic console that has something for everyone, for a small price, while PS3 has a pathetic array of games, for a ridiculously high price. If you can afford both, go for it, but if not, it's Wii all the way.

Wii: Video Game Fun Women Can Approve Of

February 12, 2011 by Goldenchute · Leave a Comment
Filed under: video games

For many women out there, the word “video game” represents everything that is wrong with today's society. Grown men will park them selves for hours in front of their beloved game console getting up only to fulfill life's necessities. Young children will undoubtedly throw a tantrum if you insist on making them turn the game off during an integral part of game play. It seems that video games have taken away what woman feel is important in life: quality time. Be that as it may there is one console out there that seems to have sprung them, and therefore us, from the clutches of gory graphics and intense hour long game play. Nintendo, the widely known manufacturer of video game consoles has met women's need for quality time with the acclaimed Wii.

What Makes It Different

What is is about this game console that makes women less likely to cringe at the thought of allowing video games into their household? Wii seems to be bringing people together more than any other video game out there. In an age of technology they have finally found the new millennium's answer to board game night. This video game, though not packed with stellar graphics is full of family fun. Instead of lengthly and intense games that capture the players attention for days, weeks, or months to come, the Wii specializes in short yet fun games that the whole family can play. Games like Wii Play, the disc that comes with the console ensures fun for even the video game challenged with a chance to test their skills at tennis, bowling, boxing, and baseball.

Get Everyone Involved

So how does this help you plight? I my self, being victim of men's love for video games have played Wii and guess what? It's fun. Men and woman of all ages from preschoolers to seniors seem to love the Wii and Nintendo's unique approach to game play. Instead of taking turns sitting in front of the couch practically motionless the Wii invited players to get up and do something, which is after all something that we've been trying to get kids to do for years now. Most games are played by moving the motion sensitive controller to mimic real life movements like the swing of a bat or a golf club. In fact, some senior centers have found that the Wii is a great way to help the elderly become active and have fun while doing it.

Family Fun

If you think video games signify the death of quality time, the Wii should make you pause and reevaluate. The Wii will have you, your significant other, and the rest of your family competing for top bowler or enjoying a great game of Mario Party. You can even get friends and family together in a Wii themed night. Choose a sport from Wii Play and center an evening around it. Everyone can dress the part with their baseball or bowling shirts and you can have fun finger foods that go along with the theme. For example, have a bowling night where you can compete with friends and family while enjoying bowling alley goodies like hot dog, French fries, bowling ball cupcakes, and some orange drink.

The Xbox 360 is the second video game console produced by Microsoft in co-operation with IBM, ATI and SiS.  With its Xbox live service, players can compete on line and download arcade games such as game demos, TV shows, trailers, music videos or rented movies.  Xbox 360, which is the successor to Xbox, is the seventh generation gaming system competing with Sony’s play station 3.

The Xbox 360 – launched on MTV on May 12, 2005 - is the first console to provide a near simultaneous launch across three major regions with wireless controller support.  The console sold out completely at release and as of September 2007, 13.4 million units have been sold worldwide with a variety of three versions.

Development:  Xenon, Xbox 2, Xbox FS, Xbox Next or Next Box were the initial names during development of Xbox 360.  Before the advent of Xbox 360 using Apple’s Power Mac G5 hardware, several alpha development kids were spotted.

My Xbox 360 games collection (April 2008)

Xbox 360 launch:  The Xbox 360 was released on November 22, 2005 in the United States of America and Canada.  Microsoft had officially launched Xbox 360 in thirty six countries in its first year of launch, more countries than any console had launched in a single year and because of its early launch, the Xbox 360 has taken the lead on both of its competitors, Sony’s play station 3 and Nintendo’s Wii.

There are three standard variants in Xbox 360.  Xbox 360 Arcade, the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 Elite.

The Xbox 360 Core was an entry level now replaced by Xbox 360 Arcade.  The core system is the bundle of composite video cables, capable of only SDTV resolutions.  The Xbox 360 Core may utilize a separately sold 20 or 120 GB Hard Drive.

The Xbox 360 Arcade is the replacement for Xbox 360 Core.  It includes a wireless controller, 256 MB memory unit, composite AV cable, HDMI 1.2 output, 5 Xbox Live Arcade titles with packaging labeled ‘go play’ and also a ‘welcome video’ and several game trailers/demos.

The Xbox 360 generally called the ‘premium’ or ‘pro’ has all the features of the Xbox 360 core and has a combination of composite cable and component cable.  The Xbox 360 also has a detachable 20 GB Hard Disc Drive which stores downloaded content, compatible with original Xbox games and store game data.

The Xbox 360 Elite is the fourth and most expensive variation of the console.  It includes a 120 GB Hard Drive and a Matte black finish.  The Elite was released in August 2007.

On the day of Xbox 360’s release, Microsoft added a basic non-subscription service – Silver – to its already established premium subscription based service called Gold.  The Xbox Live Marketplace designed to download purchased or promotional content offers movie game trailer and game demos.

The Xbox Video Marketplace is an exclusive Video Store to download high definition and standard definition television store and movie on to Xbox 360 console.

The Xbox Live Arcade is an on-line service used to distribute downloadable video games to Xbox and Xbox 360 owners operated by Microsoft.

The Xbox 360’s graphical user interface “GUI” is the Xbox 360 dashboard which features five blades and can be launched automatically when the console boots up without a disc.

A new feature called Xbox Original was launched to download original Xbox games directly to Xbox 360

Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 11

While one's preference for a certain video game system over another is just that a preference the debate between the PS3 and the Wii ended in the past few months with the introduction of the WiiFit Balance Board. Allow me to explain as one who has only played the Wii, never played the PS3 (although I was an average player on its grandfather, the original PS), and recently received both aforementioned Wii accessories.

Over the past several years debate has raged in the United States as to what can be blamed as the root cause for childhood obesity. In many opinions and studies, video games were cited as at least partially guilty. Just think how many hours some of us spent finding the secret warp zones on Super Mario Bros., or pretending to be Link as he sought Zelda. The games were fun and challenging, but not so engrossing or involved as today's which seem to be just a step away from reality.

And reality is what seemed to bite Nintendo in the posterior when it created the Wii, and subsequently the WiiFit Balance Board. By nature, video game players are competitive not only with other players, but with themselves. Try to recall how many times you played the same course on any NES racing game just to beat your previous best or beat the computer's time, and you may get an idea of how addictive the WiiFit can be. Plus, since it forces you out of your gaming chair and gives results based almost entirely on your physical activity, Nintendo took an enormous step in helping to solve a real problem.

Now, since the key word in this debate is "game," I will only briefly touch on how WiiFit works. Also, a quick Internet search will likely return hundreds of reviews of the WiiFit, so why be repetitive? Put simply, a player stands on the Balance Board and has the choice of activities from four categories: strength training, aerobics, yoga, and balance games. Each grouping has "locked" activities that make themselves available once certain benchmarks in the opening activities are achieved. WiiFit also tracks an individual's progress through a graph that marks weight and body mass index. What it also records is a person's "WiiFit Age." This is determined after a quick test taken while standing on the Balance Board. Sometimes, it can be higher than the participant's actual age. In fact, there have been bad days when WiiFit has accused me of being more than a decade older than my actual age. However, the competitor in me has brought me back to the Balance Board again, and again, and again. Most recently, I had improved enough on the board to be told I was as good as a player five years my junior.

And that is precisely the reason WiiFit should be viewed as the feather in the cap for Wii as a game console. Once again focusing on "game" and not the features or the cost or the game's accessories and their costs, Wii stands head and shoulders above PS3. The gaming nature of its players will brings them back over and over again to beat a previous best in the balance games and earn a champion ranking. Or improve their form in strength training to be called a bodybuilder. Or maintain a solid enough center of balance to be called a yoga master. Or burn enough calories aerobically to earn the title calorie incinerator.

Wii vs. PS3. The debate will rage on. But going on games and accessories alone, Wii is the fitter of the two.

A look at the most popular video game console systems – Part 4

Video game consoles. How do you pick from the bewildering array of current products and games?

Game console manufacturers are now in what they describe as the seventh generation of game systems. This is characterized by wireless controllers, high resolution graphics, and internet connectivity. Current offerings in the video game console market are from three companies:

Microsoft currently offers the XBOX 360. This game console is based on a PC platform and many of the games available for XBOX are also available for PC. The XBOX 360 starts at a suggested retail of $279 for a bare bones system but a well equipped can easily run $100 more. Older XBOXes, games, and accessories are still widely available. Many original XBOX titles are backwards compatible with the XBOX 360.

Sony's current products include the Playstation 3 console and the PSP (Playstation Portable), which is a hand-held portable console with a screen. The Playstation 3 retails for around $400 and the PSP starts around $170. As its name implies, the PS3 is the third in the Playstation line of game consoles. The Playstation and Playstation 2 were popular systems and units, games, and accessories are still available. Different models of the PS3 have different levels of backward compatibility with PS2 games, so if this is important to you, do your research and make sure you can play the games you want.

Nintendo offers the wildly popular Wii with it's revolutionary wireless motion sensing controllers. The Wii is the successor to the company's original Nintendo 64 and Nintendo Gamecube. The Wii has found a niche with customers who might not be considered typical game console players but are drawn to the increased level of interaction provided by the Wii's unique motion sensing controllers which can mimic actions like pointing, throwing, and steering

Each company offers a host of features, like high definition DVD players, interenet connections, or on-line communities. Some of these features are common to all three and some are unique. Do some research to determine the best fit for what you plan to do with your console.

The most important consideration will always be the available games. If you enjoy first person shooter or role playing games, look at the PS3 or XBOX 360. All three have racing titles. The Wii tends towards sports or simulation games that take advantage of the motion sensing controllers. Each console offers parental locks to prevent children from playing inappropriate games, but the Wii offers more parent friendly features and kid oriented titles.

Determine what types of games appeal to you or your children and which titles available for each product. There are many on-line gaming communities that discuss console games and provide forums where you can get questions answered by experienced users. Do a Google search for gaming console discussion to find these communities.

Finding some of the more popular units may take some research. Scarcity drives up prices, so determine in advance what you can afford. If you purchase on-line, make sure it's from a reputable company with a good track record. Don't forget to factor the cost of shipping and insurance into your price comparisons.

Finally, be aware what the games cost. Many manufacturers lose money on the console with the intent that they will make it up in game sales. Popular titles can cost $60 or more. That can be a shock if it's not included in your original budget.

I am thinking about getting this game, but I need to know what wii remotes and other accessories. So if you own the game, or you know, that would be awesome! Thanks!

How to get a Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Wii im Kofferraum

When being released back in 2006, no one knew if Nintendo Wii would be able to stand up against Playstation 3 and the already successful Xbox 360. Perhaps it wasn't the best idea to put bets on either Sony or Microsoft during this generation of the console race, because consumers would come to find out the fury of Nintendo's wrath.

Shortly after release, the Nintendo Wii started dominating the market just like Nintendo DS. Surely fans of Nintendo were jumping for joy when they discovered that the company was outselling both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, which had been released much earlier.

However many of those wanting a Nintendo Wii had many problems purchasing them due to the high demand for them. Stores weren't even able to keep the Nintendo Wii in stock for more then a day, and the games were selling out as well. In 2009 it is much easier to purchase a Nintendo Wii, but if you are still having problems here's a few tips.

Purchasing Online

This option is probably the easiest of them all, since all consumers need to do is get on the Internet and find a website selling Nintendo Wii. One such website to check out would be Walmart.com, the official site of the super retail store. They tend to sell Nintendo Wii in bundles that can be customized to get the most for your money.

Another website to check out would be Target, which pretty much has the same deals as Walmart, but don't be afraid to check them both out to get the best deals. In extreme cases consumers can find Nintendo Wii's on Ebay.com, an auction site with millions of user sold items to choose from.

Store

Probably the most obvious choice out of the bunch, consumers should check out the nearest GameStop if at all possible. Buying a system used is not always a bad thing, just make sure that it worked properly before leaving the store. The great thing about buying used from GameStop is that you can also purchase a warranty incase the system breaks down.

In addition to GameStop, the retail locations of Wal-Marts or Target are sure to have the best selling system. In the event that you don't see the Nintendo Wii behind the glass cases don't worry, ask an employee if they have any systems in the stock room. Alternatively consumers could just call one of these stores before even leaving home to make sure they have the system.

News Paper

Last but not least this is most likely the worst place to purchase the system. In the classified section of newspapers perhaps you will find Nintendo Wii's for sale. The only catch is that all of the items posted are being sold by normal people, so you can't rule out the fact it may be broken until you get it.

Overall the Nintendo Wii should be easier to find compared to how it was when first released. If you have trouble finding one be sure to check pretty much every electronics store and never be afraid to ask if a system is being stored in the stock room. Hopefully these tips have helped out, be sure to use them during the holidays too.

The Nintendo Wii is amazing for people who need to get off of the couch. Yes, I am talking to the video game couch potatoes to get up and play the Wii. Trust me, that system is wicked awesome. Take example the Wii Sports that come with the Wii game system. My uncle got it and I played against him. Even though the graphics look nothing like real people, I felt as if I were in the game and almost ran around the room to get the tennis ball. I forgot the Wii avatar runs for me already. How embarrassing. Wii baseball is also great for exercising. Using the controller to throw a fast ball, curve ball, or whatever is great. Once again I played against my uncle. He couldn't swing past my fast ball. I hope the video game couch potatoes are still reading. I used to be one of them. When I discovered Nintendo Wii and DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) my couch potato video games were over. Even though I still get exercise outside, I still love to play Nintendo Wii and DDR whenever possible. Especially on rainy days. Come to think about it. I think I want to play right now.

Is a wii really worth the price you pay? What are the cons of the wii besed on your expirience? Are there any new wii systems that are coming out that I should maybe wait for? Thanks in advance!

Nintendo Wii Play – Part 1

If you were asked what the best selling game on Wii is, you might think of Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit or Super Smash Bros. Brawl. You may be surprised to learn that it's actually a collection of 9 mediocre mini-games. The game is Nintendo Wii Play.

If you don't already know, the reason for Wii Play's success is its value for money. It is such good value for money because the game come bundled with a Wii Remote.

Of course the Wii comes with one controller but most owners will at some stage want to play multiplayer games. The multiplayer aspect of the Wii is one of the main ways the system is promoted. Just look at any of the adverts for Wii games. They always show a family or group of friends having a fun time together on the Wii. They never depict the man playing Zelda until the early hours who looks drained as he’s been playing the game for 8 hours straight, yet feels determined to finish "just one more dungeon" before bed. That is another side of the Wii, but Nintendo focus their marketing on having fun together.

Since a second controller is required to get the most out of the console, most Wii owners will want to purchase one. Wii Remotes typically cost between £26.99 and £29.99. Wii Play with Wii Remote costs around £28. So in some cases you can actually buy it for less than the Wii remote alone. At most you will not pay more than a few extra pounds for Wii Play than you would for the controller alone.

The downside of Nintendo Wii Play is that the mini-games themselves are very shallow and likely to become boring and repetitive quickly. After each game has been unlocked, which can usually been done within two attempts at the previous game, there are no rewards for continued play other than a high score. If some of the games were a little more difficult to unlock, it could add further value to the title.

The following is a brief rundown of each mini-game.

Shooting Range – This is first game available in Wii Play. Players aim their remote at the screen and fire using the trigger at clay pigeons, ducks and flying saucers.

Laser Hockey - Like Air Hockey, two players use a mallet to hit a puck into their opponent's goal. The motion of the remote is tied to the motion of the mallet.

Tanks – This 2D overhead shooting game is the only one in Nintendo Wii Play for which the Nunchuck can be used alongside the Remote. The Wii Remote is used to aim your tank's gun at enemies while the Nunchuck is used to move the tank around the play area.

Find Mii – The remote is used to select a Mii from a crowd which matches criteria given before each round.

Charge – This is the only game where the remote is held in the style of bicycle handle bars. The remote can be used like a steering wheel to race a cow to the end of a track before the time runs out. Bashing into scarecrows is rewarded with time extensions.

Billiards – As you would expect this is a Wii Play version of Billiard. The remote is used to select where the cue ball is hit, then the remote is pulled back and pushed forth to simulate the motion of the cue in order to hit the ball.

Table Tennis – The remote is used to control the position of a bat in a table tennis match.

Fishing – The play must cast their rod by swinging the remote and then move the rod around to catch a fish and pull it up.

Pose Mii – This Nintendo Wii Play game uses Mii characters. Pressing the button on the controller changes the pose of the Mii. The Mii must then be manoeuvre into a matching shape inside a moving bubble.

Nintendo Wii Play is almost a free title given away with a Wii Remote so you needn't think too hard about whether or not to purchase it. Just don't expect the game itself to keep you entertained for more than a few hours.

Which video game console is better: PlayStation 3 or Wii? – Part 3

I have played both systems. I own the Nintendo Wii. Before I purchased the Nintendo Wii, I made a pros and cons chart. On this chart I had the Xbox 360, the Playstation #, and the Nintendo Wii. For the purpose of the article I will not include my thoughts about the Xbox 360. The Playstation 3 is a great system. It offers a Blue ray player, great graphics, and in depth game-play desired by most games. The Blue ray player alone is a bargain, but if you're not into the games that are produce for the Playstation 3 then it's not for you. The initial price tag for this system was too much. With everything that is inside it does seem worth it. The Blue ray player alone is at least $400.00. The rest of the system is about $200. In my opinion the Playstation 3 is a $400 system. Despite it's $250 price tag, the Nintendo Wii is a better system for any type of gamer. I was able to get my father to play the Wii sports game disc. We played boxing, tennis, baseball, bowling, and golf. This was another plus that the system came with a game. We had a good time with the boxing. My father knocked me out in the second round. He isn't much of a gamer but he was impressed with the games. The Nintendo Will was made for all types of gamers. The Playstation 3 really just reached out to two types of gamers. With the sales of the Nintendo Wii continuing to rise, we will have a lot to expect from the Nintendo Wii. With Nintendo's recent release of Wii Fit and the Wii balance board, the Playstation 3 may find it difficult to catch up in sales and fans.I purchased Wii Fit and found myself in a pool of sweat. I look forward to getting home to work out. It's a modest price tag for what you're getting. With the two video game rivals striving for video game immortality, we will be very astonished with Nintendo's advancements. With all the hype behind the Nintendo Wii prior to it's release, it has certainly lived up to it's hype. The Playstation 3 is not far behind but fails with it's grossly high price tag. It will come down, but the games offered leave too many to be desired. Save your money and buy the Nintendo Wii. With the extra cash you can afford to buy a few games. If you're happy with the Wii Sports disc you will be fine. Don't forget to go wi-fi with your Nintendo Wii. Download your favorite Nintendo games, Super Nintendo games, Sega Master System games, Sega Genesis games, Neogeo games, or the Nintendo 64 games. Different channels are also available to view from the news, the weather, or the internet. The Nintendo Wii acts as its own entertainment package rolled into one. even though it doesn't have a Blue Ray player, gamers are not going to miss it. What happens when the Playstation 4 comes out? Another $700 out of your pocket that's what. Stick with Nintendo. They're not going anywhere anytime soon.

I just got super mario galaxy for wii. I put in the disc and the console recognizes it in the disc channel, but when I press start, the wii makes strange clicking noises and after 30 secs, it gives me an error message. It has done this with other games, but I cant seem to fix this one. How do I fix it?
