How Nintendo Revolutionized Gaming
Consoles and games have been around for almost two decades now; they are probably one of the fastest growing industries in the world. But saying this, who has really given us the innovative ideas to the gaming world? I can honestly say that it has to be Nintendo.
Nintendo have been on a downfall for years now, with outdated consoles, that just could not meet there superior competition. This being said, when Nintendo unveiled the Wii, it was not only loved by the critics but also adored by the audience who could not get enough of it.
Nintendo's slump began after the major success of there Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Just as the next generation of consoles began releasing CDs instead of cartridges, Nintendo decided to stick to the cartridges, ignoring warnings of a major market loss. As Sony's success grew, Nintendo's faded and it looked as though it was the last nail in the coffin, when they released the Nintendo GameCube, this console just could not compete with the Playstation 2 and the Xbox.
Nintendo have somehow found a way to bring them selves back to life and begin conquering again. One of the most unique aspects of there new generation console, the Nintendo Wii is the way in which games are actually played. Instead of the usual boomerang shaped controllers, the Nintendo Wii uses a motion sensor controller, which can manipulate movements in games. As well as a games console, the Wii can also be used as a fitness base. Games such as Wii Tennis will give you a great workout, as you will be running around the room trying to hit the ball.
As Nintendo's presence is now at an all time high, it looks as if its major competitors are falling behind such as the PS3 and the Xbox 360. But they are slowly recognizing this new gaming revolution and introducing wireless controllers to there players. PS3 who also discontinued the rumble control have re released this, as they now genuinely believe that users want to be part of the experience.
So what does this hold for the future of gaming? Well as the user generated bubble grows online, so does ability to create user specific game consoles. People want to be in the action, they don't just want to stare into a screen for hours on end. The gaming world is changing at a tremendous speed and Nintendo are there right from the beginning.
Video game reviews: Guitar Hero World Tour Review (Xbox 360)
Guitar Hero: World Tour. The name just doesn't sound right now, considering the series has ventured along the path of Rockband's
band style game-play. Granted, Guitar Hero is a big brand and a change to the name could lose recognition amongst the casual gamer fan-base. However, I do feel that they need to change their name to fit the product they are selling.
I am no expert at these types of games. I can barely manage hard on most songs on all of the games, failing terribly within the first 10 seconds of body-part aching mode known as expert. So now you know that I'm not an elite hard-core video-game rocker, let's get on with the review!
INTERFACE AND PRESENTATION
I know most game reviews don't have a section dedicated to the interface of the game. Although, I feel that it's an important factor within a game of this genre. By the term interface, I mean the menus, and the "fret board" within the game. By the term presentation, I mean how the game is presented and advertised.
I find the menu system somewhat lacking the sleek design that Rockband has to offer. It feels too over the top and everything is cluttered together. It doesn't majorly detract anything from the usability of the game but it sure could use some work! My biggest gripe with the interface in this game is the fret-board. I don't see any improvements in the fret-board from the 3rd
game. The 3rd made some slight alterations to the fret-board from the 1st & 2nd games and the 3rd seemed good for a while until Rockband hit.
Some of you may know, and some of you may not but Guitar Hero 1&2 was made by a company called Harmonix. Harmonix are now the developers of the big hit Rockband as they felt they need to branch out from guitar hero series. Neversoft took over the series with the 3rd one and made it a big hit. However Harmonix's Rockband made the perfect in-game fret-board in my opinion. They realised what was wrong with 1, 2 & 3 and fixed it and created a creative functional interface for the fret-board. I'm not saying that Guitar Hero: World Tour's in-game fret-board is terrible, but compared to other products in the market it doesn't do itself any justice.
I have no major complaints on how to the game is presented except from the product name. They got the world tour part spot on, because that is what you do: go on a world tour. In case you are not much of a gamer, this is an introduction to all things Halo. A new movie based on the video game is due to be released in the next few years and many people are talking about the beta version of Halo 3 that was released in May. Halo is a sci-fi video game that was first introduced in 2001 by Bungie Studios.

Halo: Combat Evolved can be played on the Xbox, Xbox-360, PC, and now Mac. There is also a custom edition for the PC.
In the original Halo game you play the Master Chief who is a soldier with some really cool body armor and a nice selection of weapons. Humans have multiple enemies in this game. The Covenant is a group of aliens who are committed to destroying earth and they chase your ship to a giant ring (Halo) that orbits a faraway planet. During the story line you find out that there are multiple Halos in the galaxy that were built by an ancient, extinct race. Halos' purpose is to eliminate all life in the galaxy as a last resort for controlling the Flood. The Covenant believes that if all the Halo rings are activated then they will be sent on the "Great Journey" that given salvation. The Master Chief ends up battling the Covenant, the Flood, and Halo's own defensive weapons in order to destroy Halo and save the universe from total destruction.
This is a first person shooting game and if you are not used to playing video games the controls take a little time to get used to, but eventually using the controller becomes second nature. There are various levels of play so you can go through the whole game several times and be challenged. You can play cooperatively with another player or play against four other players in various battlegrounds. The backgrounds and landscapes are very impressive and game will keep you completely entertained.
Halo 2
Halo 2 can be played on the Xbox, or Xbox-360, but you must have the Xbox-360 if you want to play Halo 2 on Xbox Live. Halo 2 was released in 2004 with a standard edition and a collector's edition available. The Windows Vista version with the custom edition available for the PC was released on 5/31/07. There is also a Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack available though some of these can be downloaded from Xbox Live.
The Master Chief is back again and there is a new Halo to deal with. In this version the Flood are still a problem, the Halo defense systems are more aggressive, and the Covenant is trying to activate

Every since I heard about this game i wanted to get it. When I picked up the game I immediately came home and put it in my console. I was very amazed by the intro video. the graphics in the game are very good,compared to some of the other games I've played on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give the graphics a 9. Now lets move on the the game play, when yo get into playing the game you will notice the you will find yourself in the same spot all the time,for example you go to you hideout get you mission complete it and the you just wind up back at you hideout again and again. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give the game play a 6 for its lack to keep the game play exciting. Moving on to the story line,I'm not going to spoil it for you gamers out there just let me say that the story line is kinda interesting, it's just getting to the good part thats the problem. So on a 1 to 10 scale I would have to give this section of the game a 8. Now on to the basics of the game you are a hired assassin and you have to go around killing all of your hit targets to stop them from getting their hands on this magical relic. The game play takes in the middle east. The best thing that I liked about the game is that after you complete the game you can still ride around to the different cities and mess around and finish up anything you left unattended. Some things that i did not like about the game was that you would get interrupted in the middle of the story line by cut scenes and it was really annoying. There is not very many bad things i can say about this game,who assassinating like going around assinateing people (on video games of course). I would not recomend this game for anyone under the age of 13 due to the large amouont of killing and blood. So for the price of the game and if i knew what the game was gonna be like before i bought it i would not buy it for the price they want for it i would go to a local game shop and try to pick up a used one. Over all if you can find this game used and you like good old fashion killing then this is your game but I would not recomend buying this game brand new.

The Xbox 360 Woody faceplate is a panel that attaches to your Xbox 360, much like a mobile phone snap on cover, The faceplate is modelled perfectly to fit on to your Xbox 360 console, there are flaps that reveal the front USB ports, memory unit covers and specifically moulded bits for the Xbox 360 Ring of Light power button, device synchronization button and Infra red receiver.
The design of this plate is a mock wood effect; obviously the plate itself isn't made of wood as it is plastic and a wooden plate would cost a lot more! The effect of the wood is really nice and if you have wooden furniture around, it will look much nicer, down the centre of the faceplate is a reddish brown stripe which is bordered by an Xbox 360 green. This stripe is a really nice touch and looks really stylish.
Faceplate
To install the faceplate to your Xbox 360 simply hold the top of your existing faceplate and gently pull it away from your console, it should then pop off and should come away easily. Align your new faceplate to your console and press it down, once your hear it click into place, it is installed and ready to use. If you don't like the faceplate and want to install another one simply pop it off and press the new one into place, customizing your consoles appearance has never been so easy! In the past you would have to have expensive console modifications professionally done if you want to change the look of your machine.
You can now operate your Xbox 360 as you did with your default faceplate, all the buttons remain the same, as do all the slots. The only slight annoyance I have with this faceplate is that the USB flap on the front is still of poor quality, I only use it to plug in my Xbox 360 wired controller and the small spring which automatically closes the flap when it is not in use has broken. Other than that the faceplate is great and easy to use, as I have a wooden desk I think it looks really nice although the shade of wood is slightly different, but I suppose making a faceplate for every shade of wood would be too much for Microsoft!
Price & Conclusion
The Xbox 360 Woody faceplate is an official Microsoft plate so the price is slightly higher than other third party plates, it will run you around 15 but in my opinion it is worth the cost. It will modify the look of your console really nicely and there is no easier way to do it. If you are not fond of the wooden look keep your eye out for other Microsoft faceplates as there are many different designs so you will be sure to find one you like. The only annoying thing is the front USB flap has broken; this does slightly spoil the overall look and means I cannot award this faceplate the full five stars. 4/5

As a serious gamer myself, I love to see games before they hit our shores here in North America. But more than that, I am always looking for the hottest and most unique games I can get my hands on. Unfortunately, many of those games just don't come to our side of the ocean from Japan. So I searched and researched and found exactly what I needed to be able to just put those Japanese games into game console and really start playing again. What I found was a Mod Chip, for my Playstation console. And I've been using mod chips ever since then. Having most recently purchased and installed my Xbox 360 Mod Chip into my system – and I've got games from Japan on the way.
So Just what IS a mod chip? Let me explain. A modification chip or mod chip is a device used to play import, backup, or home brew games. Mod Chips first came into "fame" when die hard, hard core gamers who were tired of the slim offerings that were made available for them in the USA, wanted to get their hands on the often better and more unique Japanese games that were coming out for their game console. This is nothing new, even the Nintendo NES has a device that allowed gamers to plug Japanese Famicom cartridges into their USA NES system so that they could play those really unique Japanese games, or the latest Mario offering that was only available (or came out much sooner) in Japan.
Mod chips are available for all the major video game consoles, including the Xbox 360, Xbox, Sony PSP, PlayStation, Playstation 2 and GameCube. Almost all modern console gaming systems have hardware-based schemes which ensure that only officially sanctioned games may be used with the system and implement regional lockout similar to the scheme used in DVD movies. Naturally, it is common sense to assume that customers would be much more likely to buy a mod chip for their Xbox 360 is they could do away with the "version" checking, and buy a chip that they KNOW will work in their Xbox 360 console… Of course, when they take it apart after receiving their chip, they WILL have to find out which model they have so they can use the right installation directions – but they don't have to fret or worry that the chip they have purchased may NOT be compatible with their XBox 360.
Much like any product, customers want the peace of mind of knowing that what they are buying will simply just WORK, and in the case of mod chips, will work in their Xbox 360 console regardless of the version of the Xbox 360 that they purchased.

There are truly very unique (and playable) Japanese games that we'll simply never see otherwise. And if home brew or cool utilities, applications or add-ons are your thing, then having a mod chip is an absolute must.

The good thing about the xbox 360 is its High Definition and the graphics.
The xbox 360 is clear winner in graphics. When you buy the Xbox 360 Premium it contains loads of accessories like:headset, internet cable, 1 wireless controller,1 game, 20Gb hard drive and other accessories that you have to buy for a small amount of money.
The xbox Live service (online) is absolutely fantastic. On xbox live you can download demos of new games and trailers, also you have media center so that you can transfer files from your Pc to your xbox 360.
Another notable thing is that the 360 is very cheap (except Elite)compared to the Ps3 and because of that most people buy the 360 instead of the Ps3. The other reason why people buy the 360 instead of the ps3 is because the 360 has much more games, and better games then the ps3.
Also the long awaited release of Halo 3 on the 26 of september wil make people buy the xbox 360 .
Ps3:the good thing about the ps3 is that its got blue ray. the graphics arent bad on the ps3 but xbox 360 is still much much better. The Ps3 has 60 Gb hard drive and has rechargeble game controllers.
The Ps3 is at the moment the most expensive console on the market, also the ps3 has got a nice design and loads of media features, and full internet connectivity.
As you can notice the ps3 is more like a computer instead of a game console.
also the online service is crap because it keeps crashing or is very slow.
So far sony are dissapointing because they havent sold as many consoles for the ps3 as they expected coz of the expensive price and because of the low number of ps3 games released.

It has consistently outsold both of the new systems and is more economical as a purchase, more interactive for the player, has more of a futuristic feel, and has many of the popular games of the other two systems, but with the Wii remote, they become something entirely new.
In addition to this, the games that are unique to the Wii, the Super Paper Mario, and the Super Mario Galaxy, the graphics are good, and the game play is really fun and interactive.
The Wii has stunned everyone, even themselves, they were not prepared for the rush, and are making a million units a month to make up for the unexpected demand.
Why unexpected? Because everyone is simply locked into the idea that dvd playing, big graphics, big marketability, these are the things gamers want.
You want to know why people still play Q-bert, Pac-man, Donkey Kong, and Super Mario Bros., its because a great game is a great game. And the games on the Wii are great, and the way you use the Wii remote is so cool, it feels really really like you are more a part of the game play, and this personalizes the game and makes it more fascinating.
The Wii will continue to be better than the Playstation 3 until the Playstation 3 can put out the thing that made it such a desired console initially, good video games.

Beware! The red ring of death! Anyone who has owned an Xbox 360 knows all about the infamous "red ring of death". This refers to when the Xbox 360's light indicator, which is typically green, flashes red due to a system error. Since it's release, Xbox 360 has caught a bad wrap for having many technical problems. Two of the main problems people have encountered are scratched discs and their console overheating.
The most common problem people have encountered with the Xbox 360 is the scratched disc mystery. Of course, scratched discs don't work well on any system, but the Xbox 360 can actually cause these scratches. I have had more than one occasion where a disc didn't read. When I went to clean the disc, I noticed perfect circular scratches on the disc. The problem here is in the faulty construction in the system. When you pop a disc in, there is nothing that holds it firmly in the system, such as a tray. This, in result, can cause the discs to be scratched if the console is moved or shaken while in operation. Xbox 360 is well aware of this problem, and will even replace certain games that have been scratched. But nobody should have to deal with this process when the problem is solely the manufacturer's.
Overheating has been a very prevalent problem for Xbox 360 owners. The bad part is, most people have no idea the console has overheated. The red error light that starts flashing isn't exactly a clear indicator of how serious your problem is. To avoid getting too technical, all the chips and boards inside the Xbox 360 are soldered together. The problem with the solder that Microsoft used is that is much more fragile than solder used in the past. This solder, when heated enough, can become extremely brittle and crack. And when solder breaks, things come apart. And behold, the flashing ring.
It is estimated that around 30% of Xbox 360 systems fail. Mind-blowing. I, for one, stand on the fringes of the other 70 or so percent that haven't had any fatal errors to my console. But I know several people who have owned two or more Xbox 360s due to these problems. I have experienced, however, the scratched disc problems along with a few other minor problems. Other Xbox 360 owners can also attest to the fact that the console makes some strange sounds. Aside from the system fan which rivals the decibel output of a small helicopter, the system seems to moan and groan. My theory? Maybe it is longing to be with the rest of it's family in the Microsoft repair department. Let's hope not.
